Finally watched the 1969 filmfare awards episode. Very well narrated and greatly presented as always Rakesh Bhai. Lot of awards were deserving but one biggest disappointment is not including Padosan in any category. This was not acceptable. Awards are never trustworthy now a days but I can't believe that awards were rigged even in those days. Kishore da truly deserved for Best singer for Padosan with all due respect to Rafi Sahab. Mehmood ji deserved the best comedian award for Padosan and other categories for padosan also deserved at least the nominations. This was a major disappointment. Johnny walker for shikar was not as good as mehmood for padosan. This is Strange. shammi kapoor gave his best performance of his career in Brahmachari but still for Best Actor Dilip Kumar was more deserving for Aadmi. Overall great research and presentation. 👍
First watch Shikar and Brahmachari films. Johny Walker's comedy was brilliant in Shikar so does the acting of Shammi Kapoor saheb in Brahmachari film. Both were well deserved ❤

Aside from Dharmender, it’s easy to see the movies were still very old fashioned and the actors were starting to look stale. Times were changing and within the same year a storm took over and changed Hindi cinema with more realistic and natural acting. That storm was Rajesh Khanna. He single handedly modernized Indian cinema.
@@rakeshsadeo I am. My family didn’t watch Hindi movies at all. They only watched movies made in the west, Hollywood movies. I believe Safar, Anand, Khamushi and Sacha Jotha were the beginning, and I was maybe six years old around 1975 or 76 when I was allowed to watch Hathi Meri Saati. I loved that movie and basically became a super Rajesh Khanna fan. Oddly enough, a couple of years ago I made my niece and nephew, the same age watch HMS and they loved it. My niece who is American also loves Rajesh and her favorite is Aradhana. The first five years of Rajesh Khanna, I believe are unlike any other star anywhere in the world. He gave masterpieces like Avishkar, Safar, Anand, Dushman, and yet very entertaining movies like Sacha Jotha, Apna Desh, Chahilla Babu. His range was amazing. Can you imagine SRK or Amitabh do a Avishkar at the height of their popularity? Plus not to mention his charm and good looks. His peacoat and yellow turtle neck from Acha tu hum chalti hain is my own favorite outfit. Whenever I fell down I listen to his songs. His legacy goes on.

SRK did exceptional roles in the beginning and after reaching top he continued playing different daring roles..rabb ne banadee....my name is khan..veer zara and many...yes Amitabh did average films when he was on top

Two major disappointments for me in Filmfare awards 1969 : 1. Non-nomination of 'Padosan' which is considered a CULT film with illuminating star cast of hugely talented actors, outstanding performances,roller-coaster situations, lovely songs. A true laugh-riot n a rare movie, which taught people how to laugh heartily. Till date, its magic resonates. 2.Dilip Kumar not getting the best actor award for 'Aadmi'. In 'Sanghursh', it was Sanjeev Kumar who stole the show.
