I prefer winter camping, but I prefer eating beef over fish. I'm not good at cooking fish, and beef is easy. It is easier to catch and cook fish than large mammals, so fish is a better survival food if you have the means to catch them.

People all over the world who practice bushcraft share something in common they bring sleeping systems, tarps ropes pegs etc etc, axe, knife, wood saw, fire starting equipment & foods pots and pans but they never ever bring a simple spoon & fork. Why not??? they bring everything else what does it make the packout too heavy?
They want to show that they can makeshift utensils. Also fire starting with a bow and stick sometimes just to show how to do it in case you don't have matches or lighter.
or like the one i saw where the dude kayaked to a remote island with one box then all of a sudden he had three boxes of supplies when he did his itinerary , these are fun to watch and sometimes informative but ?
Some people survive better than others. I was fising in northern scotland aged 15, fell through the ice of the loch, struggled for about two minutes to get out. Got to the bank. Wrung the water from my clothes, got a dry scarf from my fishing bag, wrapped it on my neck and chest, put my wet shit back on, ate a packet of nuts and then walked back to camp, fifteen minutes away. Just another day. Someone else not used to the freezing wind, water and snow, could have easilydied. Practice. Practice. When it happens, you wont die😮
Bro im all for what ya do but since i have had my two boys me myself i cant kill anything anymore i used to be just as avid of a hunter i went deer hunting fished and all but now they have made me mush i still love meat i just cant dispatch it anymore
