It's true that women receive gifts and support from various sources, which can be seen as a form of compensation. However, it's important to remember that these gestures don't address the core issue of wage gaps and unequal pay that women often face in the workforce.
I'd like to respectfully bring up the point that while women do have certain legal protections, such as those in the Indian Penal Code (IPC) concerning rape, it's also essential to acknowledge the issues faced by men. The statistics says that the male-to-female rape victim ratio (1:3) are indeed concerning (this data has been taken from a nvaw survey), and they highlight the need for gender-neutral laws that ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals. In the pursuit of true gender equality, it's crucial that we address these issues on both sides of the spectrum.
Moreover, I would like to mention laws like dowry and domestic violence, which predominantly focus on female victims. These issues should indeed be viewed through a gender-neutral lens, as men can also be victims of such injustices. Promoting gender equality doesn't mean neglecting the problems faced by one gender in favor of another; it's about creating a fair and just society for all, regardless of gender.
