G'day Julia. Oh, how I would love to experience a winter Christmas where snowman Christmas cards make sense. Still, I can admire your talent as you make Christmas cards, and I enjoyed watching your thought process as you sorted out the layers. I thought it was a great move to make a hat for the snowman. ⛄
AHHHH... decluttering your craft studio! You are speaking my language as I have decluttered my own home including my craft studio.
1 - The first thing to do is stop purchasing new product so you can assess what you already have, and to use up what you have. Julia, I say this in fondness, but you are certainly the Queen of using up all your scraps!
2 - Try and not do everything at once, and tackle one area at a time. If necessary, have a time limit for example 30 minutes, and you will be surprised what you can achieve in 30 minutes. Warning decluttering is addictive, and it is so easy to go past that time limit and continue decluttering. Well for me it is, but others may disagree!
3 - Now this is going to be hard... limit your containers, (by not having 16 containers for Christmas papers... WOW Julia on hearing that I nearly passed out!!!) and do not exceed the container. For example, one container each for Christmas, and other seasonal celebrations, backgrounds etc...
You didn't say how many containers of snowman stamps that you have. Again, using the container method and limit the number of snowman stamps that you want to keep fitting in ONE container. Choose your favourites that you know that you will use over and over again.
4 - Let go of craft supplies that you no longer use by donating them. While you have had these craft items for a season, I am sure you have enjoyed having them in your studio but be brave and bless someone else. You never know they might go to a new cardmaking crafter.
As I mentioned earlier go through each section and concentrate on one section at a time... cardstock & papers, stamps, embossing folders, stencils, dies, tools (how many scissors do we need???!!!)...etc...! BTW the Cutter Bees are a keeper!
I went through each item individually asking myself will I use this stamp set, die etc... if yes, keep it, but if the answer is no... well my friend it is time to pass it on.
There is nothing that I have removed from my craft studio that I have regretted... NOTHING!
Know your style of cards that you want to make and stick to that. I have avoided purchasing for example a hot foil plate and foils, alcohol inks, and all the supplies that come with using the inks etc... as I don't want to venture down those paths in my card making. Also, these items not only cost a lot of money they also take up space in the studio.
That is enough for now as I don't want to overwhelm you, and by now you probably don't want to know me! 😉
I think I have missed my calling as I feel that I would be fantastic in helping people declutter.
God's blessings, love and hugs (you need it after reading this... LOL! 🤣)
    Gloria 🤗☕🍰💐❤

Such a great way to use those scraps and it made a beautiful card, too. 😉 I love how you made the little hat for the snowman. I would never have thought of that. The snowman paper is so cute. Good luck downsizing! I don't think I could ever give anything up. I just keep hoarding it all.🤣

And don't even get me started on wooden stamps!! I am going to have to downsiz and am starting with categories I never use - like "Graduation" and "Golf" LOL!!!

OMG So cute. Love how you made that hat. I’m getting so many new ideas especially about uses for patterned paper/scraps and thinking more about what I can put together to make small tags and such. I don’t make as many cards as you do because I just send to a limited group of friends and family. I don’t know if I want the responsibility of making cards for a whole group. You’re a real hoot. I’m really enjoying your videos.

I have a bag of Christmas paper and scraps and little things I have used over the years for my Christmas cards. My niece signed up to make 250 Christmas cards and then realized she didn't have enough paper. I had so much, not as much as you, but I knew I wouldn't use it. She is going to get a wonderful surprise when we get together Tuesday with her mom for lunch. She is an incredible card maker, and I am maybe average. I am happy to give her some to make them. I still have a bunch and will make some scrappy cards. You inspire me.

Your neice has my total respect - 250 cards is way more than I make and I can only imagine how much time it will take. Let me know if you want me to send you some paper - seriously!!

Hi Julia the card you made today is great I love it. As for you downsizing I wish you all the luck , I find that I have too much in my craft room and I have no one to give it too, as my family are not interested, I have not only my card making things but as my Mum is now in a Nursing I have her craft things too. My Mum still makes card with me once a week, but she has no where to store anything in her room. So I take what we need to màke the cards, we make cards and then I take everything home again. Thank you for your great card idea today. 🐞🇦🇺

Thank you Denise - that is good to know! Can you use alcohol markers with Stazon? I wanted to color this image but the ink kept bleeding. I didn't think the water based ink was supposed to react to alcohol...lesson learned there! It doesn't seem to happen with other colors.

I had to downsize when we moved interstate. The first thing i gave to my arts teacher neighbour was techniques that no longer excited me ( quilling!), Next to go were almost empty bottles of whatever etc, followed by color pencils that my son had used in primary school. Papers that i didn't like/small scraps. Preschools are usually happy to take anything

What a lovely scrappy Christmas card you made and by adding that adorable hat to the snowman, well that just took it to a whole new level, well done Julia! I love watching to see what you will come up with and make from scraps, I never get tired of watching your videos and often I go back through and watch some of them again. I can't imagine having to downsize, I know it will be tuff on you. Be careful with bending and lifting and get lots of help if you can. Hope your new studio will be amazing!

ADORABLE card!!! And from scraps!!! I also have A LOT of Christmas papers, might even have a bit more than you, mostly acquired from 90% off Christmas sales. I have not downsized my studio, but over the last few years I have been more selective about what I keep. For example, within the last year I went thru all my punches, and if they didn't punch easily or I no longer liked the punch I got rid of them. Given that you have a TH-cam channel as you downsize you might want to sell destash lots?!?!?

Now I’m in to card making sublimation, and Lord knows what’s next, so good luck when you find a solution how to downsize. I love snowman they’re so cute and they last all winter.✂️💌☃️

Pretty card, Julia. I love that stamp and stamped in Rich Razzleberry is perfect! I have never downsized and I feel for you and moving to another state is not easy at this stage of life but kudos to you! I think I would start with pulling the wooden stamps as they take up so much room and decide if you want more on just foam. Then decide which ones you can give away. Thinking of which paper to “cull” stresses me out so good luck with that one! I know you are good at organization and you are going to need those skills for the big move! ❤️🇨🇦
