LD is so free, I mean psychologically free, even in front of the camera. it's rare to see such spontaneity and honesty and ability to laugh at oneself. Makes me envy him

@@DMU386 thats true but Larry has always had that attitude of not really caring and speaking his mind 100%. he says in his early stand up days he struggled bc he would fight with the audience and straight up walk off right after walking on lol and the whole blowing up and quitting SNL then coming back the next day. he is the funniest man alive!
You could make an argument he's enlightened in the Buddhist sense if he didn't spend all day finding fault with everything!
In the 80s, he dated a woman whose father wrote the book Revolutionary Road. The first time he was supposed to meet him, the daughter got held up and he ended up having to spend 2 hours at a restaurant alone with the most intimidating man he'd ever met. This is what inspired the Seinfeld episode where they meet Elaine's father.
Hahaha yes! When talking about episodes of Seinfeld especially early seasons Larry has mentioned he did that or it happened to him haha

The first time I met my future father in law my future wife had decided to step into the shower. Fortunately he was the most marvelous man I had ever met and we got along famously. But when I saw him pull up in the drive I just about s**t myself.
The very first joke of Larry David's standup career, in fact his first words to an audience: "Let me tell you about good-looking people…We're not well liked."

@@Joseph1NJ , Seinfeld was hired by NBC, then Jerry asked David to write the show with him. Seinfeld was already doing pretty well for himself before the show. Without the show, we definitely wouldn’t know who Larry David was. I think they would both say they were both the brains behind the show. It wouldn’t have been great without both of them.

This was one of the funniest interviews I've ever seen, and Larry is so funny when he's just being himself.
You should watch Jerry interview him on Comedians in Cars...

When you see this, it's obvious that Larry David is the reason why Seinfeld is the funniest sitcom ever!
no, bullsh*t. He's responsible for maybe 25% of the show at most. Over the years, they had a lot of talented writers on staff that came up with a lot of those episodes besides LD. The one person most responsible for making it so funny is Jerry Seinfeld, who not only acted, but also wrote and directed many episodes. It was Jerry who was extremely successful at most everything he attempted that threw a lifeline to Larry David, who had failed at everything he attempted in life to help him with the new "Seinfeld" show. Yes, LD was very important in the success of the show, but he paled in comparison the Seinfeld.

The way he turns and addresses the audience just as if they were a person. Speaking in a natural tone. He's pretty much the only talk show guest who would do that, yet it makes perfect sense.

This confused me before I watched the whole thing because they're both named David.
It’s crazy that someone can be so charmingly unlikeable. The way everyone laughed when Dave asked if he was a good date is a walking example of it
But the reality is that Larry David is actually, in many ways, very likeable. That's the reality behind his success.

The genius of Larry David is he fools everyone by being "unlikeable", all the while being extremely considerate and excellent. His performance eternally begs the question to the audience "who else are you holding in judgement that is actually a dear friend?" Bravo!

He is a really funny and pleasant man. Now I understand why his show was so successful because it is really enjoyable to see him talk not to mention seeing his writing abilities at their best in Seinfeld.
I love that whenever I see a Larry David thumbnail, I can't tell if it was from 20 years ago or 2 months ago.

George did that exact same thing! He quit his job, immediately regretted it and showed up the next day to a meeting as if nothing had happened. I love that a majority of the episodes were based off of Larry's actual life! Seinfeld is the greatest sitcom of all time.

I've been binge watching Seinfeld for at least 2 months now and to find out that LD is the voice of Mr. Steinburner thru this interview brings me so much joy! Not to mention, THAT much more respect for his genius behind his writing of the show

Don’t forget he is the newspaper stand guy who tells George he doesn’t accept a 20 with writing on it. On the airplane he yells to Elaine he is eating her meal. Also he is the space guy.

The more you watch Larry on Curb or anywhere else, the more you realize that the creative genius of Seinfeld was Larry David.

I wish someone could find the show where Andrea Martin was on and she absolutely rips Schaffer apart. You could see Paul just boiling. And I'm pretty sure Andrea Martin was never on the show again. It was a classic beat down on how Schaffer was actually nerdy and not the hipster he tried to portray. Martin had known him many years earlier in Canada. Damn, I'd love to see that again.

larry david is the greatest interviewee/guest ive ever seen. if he was at all nervous there is no way of knowing..completely natural.
The funniest people around are always funny, naturally. They don't have to try. LD is one of those. I just have this constant smirk when he talks.

I love this guy! Freakin Larry David is a genius! I just became a fan of Larry’s only a few years ago. Bought all the seasons of Seinfeld and from there i watched all the seasons of Curb. Hilarious and sometimes shocking
