    I'm always amazed that no matter how proficient a person is in their craft, no matter how energized they are in articulating strategy in something that can be so complexed; someone always thumbs down (23). It is ultimately up to you, Anthony - both types of lenses gives you creative control over the shots you want to take. It also depends on the subjects themselves - some kids might be shy and you will need to be further from them for them to open up and still others love the camera. Experiment and see what you come up with. Cheers.

    It's not about the camera, but the lens. A 35mm f/2.0 or 50mm f/1.8 or f/1.4 would be perfect. Just shoot wide open, or close to wide open (f/1.4-f/2.8), and you'll get the same result. Make sure you're quite close to the subject.

    Graham definitely knows his tools of the trade! This is the type of information even a beginner (such as myself) can learn from - Not some camera shop sales person trying to push a lens (that is having difficulty selling) on his audience. Thanks for all you teach! ....Just wondering though... do you use protective filters on all or any of your lenses?

    @alldayeveryday808 How about the EF 50mm f/1.4 lens (canon.com.au/For-You/Camera-Lenses/EF50mm-f14-USM-Lens)?
    It depends on the lighting system used. Some systems require a master flash.

    Also when you use the reflectors, do you use a master flash aswell?

    the picture of the baby that you show as an example of the 85mm f1.2, is a nice shot, but to me it doesn't look like it was shot at f1.2, so I am curious if it is f1.2 or what f stop it was shot at ? I am curious because I am considering buying this lens, thanks, enjoyed the video

  • @saulf757
    @saulf757 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @CanonAustralia Would you recommend the canon 7D or the 60D? I recently had my entire set up stolen from my car when me and some friends were getting a bite to eat in Spokane, Washington. and I'm curious to see which is better. I usually shoot more sports and action photos but I'm really interested in going into macro and portrait photography. If you could recommend other things such as lenses and other equipment that would be amazing too!

    Hi there, what camera do you own?
    50mm and 85 mm lenses are popular for portrait photography although some photographers prefer telephoto lens as well so it does depend on what you want to achieve and your style of photography.
    Let us know how you go. Cheers.
