I first stumbled upon this rare recording after noticing a copy listed on eBay recently. Interestingly, the flip side is also a cover of a Mae West associated song, "I Wonder Where My Easy Riders Gone." It is interesting to note that Mae's version was recorded February 7, 1933 and Peggy's on April 6, 1933. I like Peggy's version but one has to concede that West's nasal delivery suggested an easy morality that is missing here. No doubt this cleaner version devoid of some of the suggestiveness of West's delivery made this more acceptable to radio programers at the time. This is wonderful none the less. I have owned this version for almost 50 years! Never knew it was rare! I just know I always liked both sides. Sadly during the intervening years I have pretty much worn it out! The first 25 years I didn’t know you were supposed to change the needle at least every other playing, and if I thought it looked okay I used it again. We live and learn!
