Last year when I used formic pro for the first time, I misread the instructions and used 2 strips per deep (I had 2 deeps and 1-2 mediums) per hive- whoops! But, thankfully, the bees and queens survived well and our mite load was eradicated. Good luck and hope you feel better soon!
I’m guessing these two situation are similar. In that with all of the honey suppers on there, the formic pro is being distributed throughout all of the extra boxes. The efficiency of the formic pro is diminished due to the square inches added by honey suppers .had it been just one or two hive bodies, the efficiency would probably be correct because the square inches of mass inside the box equal the appropriate dosage.?
thanks Peter. Not feeling 100% and working that hard makes for a long day. Get well soon. Your logic makes sense but there is so much variability between hives and then a genetic factor thrown in. You would have to setup a test yard and sample at least 50-100 hives of each type, small, medium and large hives. Wish answers were easy to get.
Peter the formic people told me it does not work on so many boxes works the best on 2 boxes I hope u get well soon. I called them and talked with them before I used it last year. good luck with the mites and I hope u feel better soon
I am using for the first time this fall , makes your heart stop after day 1 -24 hours seeing dead bees laying out front. I am running double deep brood & 1 super , went with 2 pad method for 14 days , wish me luck !!
A 12 and a 24! Oh that’s not good, even at a 300 bee sample that’s 4-8%. Did the Formic work or were the other yards low counts ? Except, the treatment should work across the board if it’s going to work. On snd off efficacy isn’t good enough
From the samples, if they are to be believed the treatment worked in all yards but this this one to a satisfactory level. Now to determine what made this yard different.

That is the line I am thinking too
Thanks Peter for this. Watching from New Brunswick.
Still watching with interest, I'd still like to see what results you get 😂 glad you're feeling better 👋👍
Thank you for the video watching from Sulphur Springs Texas
The push in queen cages are great for brood breaks during mite treatments. They really do help.

Need the right number of bees to fan the product throughout in the first 3 days...

In addition I found my bees quit foraging for a few days , after 48 hours things started to become normal hope it works out
Get well soon.
I use screened bottoms. Should the tray stay in or take it out?
Stay in for mite treatments
Your opening title with the date said 2023. I assume you meant 2024? Covid brain? Or it took a year to edit 🙂?
Covid brain!
How about pulling the honey and using apigard?
That’s what I intend to do next week.
For science
