I’m a genX who stumbled upon these old radio shows about 8 years ago and found that I loved them. I find it mind boggling to think that I might be listening to a show that my grandmother might have listened to as a young woman.

Gene Kelly was just getting his start, with 1 movie in 1942 and 4 movies in 1943. www.imdb.com/name/nm0000037/

Air Date:11.16.1943 ( November 16, 1943) Plot:+ "Thieves Fall Out". A confused mystery about black marketeers and double murder. + Gene Kelly plays the part of Art Kramer, a gentleman of most uncertain scruples engaged with other gentlemen of similar disrespectability and distinctly unlawful practices. “Thieves Fall Out” is by Robert L. Richards and in it in support of Kelly you will hear Hans Conried as a racetrack devotee named Kinelli and William John Stone as Sam Gross.

      "gentleman" rather means sans scruples.

This sounded like it could have been an episode of The Whistler.
