Finally, a video that goes beyond speculation and expectation, presenting clearly how exceptional the Z series is.I watched and listened to all of those "experts" that I've watched through the years and YOU Sir, are a breath of technical reviewer fresh air. I really appreciate your presentation here and of course am very happy to find a strong endorsement of the new Z-series. I have high expectations that the Z6 will serve as a fantastic video camera. Thumbs UP, new subscriber... thank YOU.
As someone who has had two 'reliable' memory cards fail on two paid assignments and who has lost two customers because of this (one customer was exploring legal action against me because of the fail) I will NEVER use a single card slot camera for paid work.... NEVER! For me, I wouldn't touch this with a barge pole, I'll stick to dual slots until a profesional version is released. I'm quite happy to wait until the full specs of the new Panasonic full frames come out, looks like they are actually taking full frame serious. At this moment, there isn't a mirrorless out there that I would even consider switching to, they will get it right one day, but both Nikon and Canon are purposefully releasing sub-par cameras so they don't compete with their other line ups. I left Canon 3 years ago for that very reason.
The review was really helpful, and without presenting much "opinions" like other reviewers did when the Z7 first came out. Everybody jumped on the "lack of dual card slots" wagon and ignored the rest of the camera. You sir, did a very good job in showing us what this camera can actually do. Thank you.
From everything I've seen of the Nikon Z so far, it just does what it's supposed to and it does it very well. No surprises, just a well thought out camera and works well on the first attempt. I'd say, well done Nikon.
Thank for much awaited Z7 review, now I am happy having pre-ordered the Z6. Loved your closing comment, and your professional approach to the criticism of the Z7👍
13:20 shooting images at a shutterspeed of 1/4 or 1/8 shows how much steady you are. I can't shoot images even at 1/60 shutterspeed. I need to practice now. Thanks for such a great video sir!
Excellent review and comments. Being a long time Nikon guy like you, I don't see the need to buy this camera but instead would buy the D850. I like your "trendy" comment at the end which really hit the mark!
Being a age old nikon user though it's a bit bias, still I must admit that it's perhaps the best overview of the mirror less beauty so far I gone through. Excellent work.
Very complete.....nearly. Thank you for that. Focus seems very impressive. Follow focus could step up Nikon in the video and film production world. This is more impressive than I get from others.
Very well paced review.. Appreciate the complete photo/video comparisons and features. And absolutely well said, "Developing the craft/discipline". Doesn't matter if it's a 25k or a 2.5L Camera, if one doesn't develop the craft/skill it is useless..
Awesome examples. Additional notes, facedetection can be completely auto when auto area mode is selected. The method you used, which is pressing OK button is basically activating subject tracking, which can be used to track any subject in addition to faces. Thus, if its only faces to be focused, can leave the camera at auto area, then if more then one faces in the frame, use the joystick to move between faces.
Final someone I can respect :) You're a great commentator and I love how your point of view! I really get bored of all those people nitpicking instead of just working on their own craft. I saw the critique from Arthur Johnson and, Yes, I also noticed you did the test in bright daylight which is an ideal situation and the Z7 does sometimes miss focus in real world usage but that doesn't change the fact that you made a very entertaining and good review. I own all the Nikon camera's up to the D5 and there's always something to critique but is that what really matters? In my opinion it's better to just concentrate on being a good photographer and adapt the tools which are available. I am so fed up with people like Tony Northrup who think they have the right answer to everything. Therefor it was so refreshing to watch your video. If everyone made great videos like you I would watch TH-cam all day :)
I don’t normally comment on videos, but I have to say what a brilliant review... I have watched a lot of vids on the Z series, but you have clearly mentioned the important aspects of the camera. 👌
I think ur review is the most level headed review of the Z7 on internet , even the most prominent youtubers have fallen prey to whining about the battery life n other trivial issues which you rightly ignored.
Awesome lighting, nice presentation and of course very informative!!Made me a fan of yours with this single video. Those concluding lines i just added it to my life.
Thanks a lot guys for this review. You guys are real professional, as you presented Nikon Z7 with discussion just on the points the real users are interested in. For a long time I was looking for a good camera for stills and video. Sony A7 was one I was looking at but... my collection of Nikon lenses... I was waiting to hear from Nikon and there were rumours on MLC from Nikon. Finally I have chosen - Nikon Z6 with kit lens of 24-70 and the adapter.
The battery life is actually testing out pretty good. People are shooting two hours worth of videos and separately shooting over 1500 images on one battery.
A pleasure to watch. Quality video with nice flow, narration, story. It doesn't look anything like those showmen type videos design for click counts. And the conclusions - great and realistic. Some comments still show focus towards hair-splitting, to use your term. Like, there is no high iso test... Yes there is - you showed photos in poor lighting at high iso. What do people want? Signal-to-noise measurement? Very few would actually undestand it anyway. Subscribed!
Really ur amazing mentory..... Spreading such a good knowledge of photography.... So much knowledge.... I like ur videos.. Learnt many things. Biggggggg thumbs upppp
Excellent video .. i love your final thoughts about trendy.. is a big true..i still shooting film ..so here I’m with some 60 years equipment enjoying the hobby..so trendy👍🏼
Dear sir, You are creating awsome and quality videos congrats for that and go ahead, I know that you are a malayali *എന്നെകിലും മലയാളത്തിൽ ഒരു വീഡിയോ പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കാമോ* it is just a suggestion from your fan☺️
@@SripalTAD no sir it's no match for AR7 mark 3.. i have both in my studio it has awesome depth but lost to Sony in low light it's not focusing the subject on dark room but Sony does good on dark room
@@superMan-cn1ir I have Sony a7rii and Nikon d750. I don't like Sony colors straight out of camera and auto WB ways not accurate. By the way make a review on z7 if u have it. I smell Sony fan.
Wonderful demonstration indeed! Were you honestly happy with the high ISO images, from the perspective of being able to make large professional prints out of them? I was watching this in 4K and found the 16000 and 10000 ISO images lacking detail and tad bit grainy. Pls share your views. Thank you very much!
Thanks for your comments. Obviously, there are trade-offs when you work in very high ISO. If your final output is a very large format print, and do not wish to have grains/noise, then you have to work with the lowest native ISO possible in that given situation. And also Shoot RAW. Yes... there are some cameras which very cleverly camouflage the grains in their JPEGs.
Curious as to why? I run a D750 currently and eventually want to change up for larger resolution. A lighter camera is appealing due to my lenses glass weight.
Thank you Sir for this great video. I am up to upgrade my camera (I am having D810) and can't decide between D850 and Z7. I think I should know now which one to grab.
Hello Sir, Very glad to hear about Z7. How is the connectivity? WIFI ? D850 dint have good connectivity so its improved or not ? Is it possible to share N-log footage to color grade and check quality ourself ?
I am not a Nikon guy but I must say a nice review. BTW for the EVF you should be able to set it so it shows dark in dark env. The option to have it brighten up is awesome for some one who shoots in the studio.
Digging that song when you finally go outside to test the camera. Willing to divulge the artist & song name? Found it! It's "Expanding" by Johan Borjesson.
I think a basic video is missing for people who have purchased a camera with kit lens and the complete process. I have at-least not come across a video covering this so it would be a great opportunity for your team to publish. If one needs to take a good portrait with a camera and its popup flash, what should be the actual sequence of setting the aperture, shutter, ISO, histogram, flash exposure compensation. What to do if the exposure is proper but histogram is clipped on either sides. When should the flash be popped up before the exposure triangle settings or after? White balance settings for popup flash indoors and outdoors? How to avoid the oily skin caused by flash, distance from subject. How to get a flattering portrait using 15-45 mm lens.
Very very informative video... almost every point is covered very well... no doubt camera is awesome and i have made my decision to purchase it after watching your video... thanks a lot.
Excellent. Thanks! Now, with the old mount, many lenses make me me suffer from their chromatic aberration (CA). I am really curious to see an "old" lens shot that has easily visible CA next to the same shot with a "new" (S) lens.
Awesome report on the camera...I am a Canon user but I am hopeful Nikon does well in the mirrorless department. I am tired about the new new kid in the block taking so much credit :)
Hi Radhakrishnan and congrats for your work, not just on this video but on all your videos, which I find quite detailed and helpful for both beginners as well as for advanced photographers. Now, I reckon other people have asked you for a comparison between the D850 and the Z7. I also endorse those requests, expecially regarding AF. Some people have reported that the Z7 is worse on auto focusing moving subjects and is on par, or even better than the D850 - on still subjects. I think that this comparison is relevant since some people have the D850 and are asking themselves if they should move to the Z7. And some others are probably scratching their heads, not knowing if they should buy one or the other. The image quality can be perceived on those camera testing websites. But something like AF is not perceived by anyone except the guy who shoots with the camera. So, that insight from you, who already have experience with both cameras, would certainly be most helpful for a lot of people. Thanks, and keep up this awesome work!
Very good and balanced review on the Z7!!! I saw that many TH-cam reviewers were cribbing about the new lenses which were not up to the mark and were of cheap kit lens quality. Do you really think so?
nice review, I did notice that no stills or video were anywhere near as sharp and crisp as you sitting at the desk with the computer. any thoughts as to why?
Very informative video 😊 I can't believe how good these new cameras perform at higher ISO. At 3200 ISO the noise is already very noticeable on my Nikon D3 🤣🤣

I can only see that the "good images" are not really in focus in the face, but in the hair. So no idea why you are so excited about.

Could you do one with Z6, I think its a good camera for weddings etc. Z7 and the file size attracts a killer workflow.
