Memo, your points are very valid on this review. I agree it does need a step up from the previous mold despite it being one of my favorites for Soundwave. It's pelvis flap is very MFT like, and the ultra obvious kibble in Alt mode is almost as bad as a spot of ketchup on your favorite t-shirt. Color scheme is my preferred especially being that it mimics the cartoon look the best. To be honest, I'm not a big fan of the lighter blue 1st issue. I think now that they've released the most current tape team with similar tape minions it's value I believe should drop on the secondary market. Since you mentioned the figure having both hands with the slight bend in the finger. I've used the other hand to simulate a trigger finger while holding the gun as he presses Eject. Memo Thanks Again for a thoroughly great review, and your time.
I do wish Magic Square would take the RP-01 mold and just downsize it to Legend's class. That one is easily the best MP G1 Soundwave figure to have ever been made.
Name: Soundwave. Faction: Decepticon. Function: Communications officer. Alt-mode: Walkman micro cassette player. Body colors: navy dark blue and silver. Voice actor: Frank Welker (English). Motto:” Cries and screams are music to my ears.”
I have the Newage's and is quite happy with it. I was late to the Legends scale game as I only started collecting last year. So when MS announced the re-release of their Soundwave, I knew I wanted him for his robot mode due to his cartoon accuracy. I couldn't pass him up since he's only $35.
Totally agree. I just started collecting Legends scale last year so I missed out on a lot of figures and had to pay late collector's fee for out of print figures. I got him for his robot mode and will turn my Newage's into his alt mode. I am also happy that MS re-released their tapes bc I think think MS cassettes are better than Newage's. Hopefully they will release another tape pack for the rest of them.
@@peace4myheart lol I actually started to collect magic square last year as well. And I'm a completionist. So I started to become deterred not being able to get ahold of every legends figure magic square has made. It's nice to see that they may re-release every figure they have made.
Im disappointed cause of the very limited ab crunch and very limited to feet pivot so it can't do the super hero pose, it does look good though and it's anime accurate
Thanks for the review. Bot mode looks fantastic, as does the alt-mode from the front (dat back tho). As far as transformation be straight forward? It looks a little less complex than what Magic Square I've seen, but nowhere near as easy as Hot Soldiers' version. I was able to use my muscle memory from the G1 to get thay transformed.😂
They need this version with the first version’s leg color. The first version’s blue doesn’t look like the show’s blue. Its way too bright. What does the S stand for? Is C stand for cartoon? I saw some new C versions and those were animation accurate colors compared to older versions of the Bruticus team.
I'll tell you what's cash grab scumbag activities outta these clowns with Soundwave: they reissued the Tape Minions, but the box set no longer has Ratbat, Frenzy, & Buzzsawin it; the box image even has their portraits grayed out!! And *NATURALLY*, they no longer have the _ORIGINAL PROPER BOX SET THAT INCLUDES ERRYBODY!!_ Too bad Hasbruh couldn't figure out transforming Tape Minions for Kingdom Core class Soundwave because the robot mode is quite lovely. Guess I'll have to hunt down the NewAge "Scaramanga". (TOTALLY dropped ball in not having a figure sized gun mode Megatron done up in gold for the full reference to "The Man with the Golden Gun"...yesss.)
The color breakup is a big disappointment, similar to their Prime... Still looks great though. I wish MS was playing fair with their reissues stating the differences or just reissuing under the same name instead of this fake marketing (did you see the 'new' Megs, Mirage and Prime?)
MS really has a horrible problem with just stating that reissues are the same thing. Mirage is literally the A version, Megatron seems to be a complete reissue, and Optimus is just the original painted windows without the stripes and rear lights. Honestly I'm all for it since I missed out on many of the older release but its not worth tracking down MS figures on ebay when their just gonna magically come back with a new name

One of my all time favorite transformers. Always wanted him as a kid.
Looks pretty awesome and easy to transform.
Awesome figure!

I would buy it!

Well at least they released the character again for people who missed out on him. Same with the cassettes

I can’t believe MS never reissued the original Version in 4 years .
I think they feel this color is more toon accurate

Wow, the alt-mode back is terrible, that's pretty ugly. But overall great figure, but I do prefer the original's color. Great review!
When I got mine he was missing the tapes he's supposed to come with & I couldn't get the problem fixed he's still good though
The first light blue release and the black version are the only ones that came with Tapes. None since
@@Memo224 sounds about right kinda sucks though cause yeah I got the darker one without the tapes, ordered it from Amazon

I really don't think the S means anything, but I might be wrong.

It is disappointing that the full Tapes set is so hard to get..
