I just got one, luckily at 1/2 price yet brand new. Curiousity has gotten the best of me.
I have a two Remington under $50, the Braun S3 and now the S7. I had a quick shave tonight with the S7 and noticed the same as you about leaving stubble on the neck and chin. Same with the S3. So far the Brauns have not performed as well as two under $50 Remington's. We'll ... I've only used the S7 once. The package is impressive!

Thinking of buying this for fathers day. Looks like a solid product.

I had that same problem and I now us lectric shave and I can now say I have a 100% better shave now. I even us it as a lubricant on the blades.

I once did have that exact same razor. I have to say that Panasonic though is so much faster and quieter. I have now, the Panasonic arc 4 and 5 top of the line shavers from Panasonic. The Braun series 7 was super loud when I shaved with it in the day time. The Panasonic though is super quiet, and you can wet shave with it and also, you can use shaving cream. The other thing about the Braun series 7 too, is after a while you will notice that it is pulling hairs and it actually is uncomfortable. I actually shaved my head with it too, and the cutter bar in the middle went terribly crooked. I ended up throwing the razor away when I got my 2 new quiet Panasonics. The Panasonic arc 5 and 4 are the world’s fastest electric shavers actually.

It pulls because you dont lubricate the foil. ;) I lubricate mine every shave and it makes a HUGE difference in terms of heat , comfort

Thank you for the reply and advice. Let me see if it needs more fluid.

Well, I got rid of that one a while again and I have the Panasonic arc 4 and 5 and I have no problem with hair pulling with these razors but the braun was o.K. When I first got it but it started getting loud and putting tugging in my face. I actually had the cleaning string with it and it was super loud compared to the Panasonnic I have. The Panasonic I can grow my hair out long and it just speeds up and mows through it. It has an automatic power up on the motor where as the braun was struggling. The Panasonic’s are quite a bit quieter as well. The braun sounded like a belt sander lol!!!! Plus with the braun series 7 I couldn’t use it wet or dry. The Panasonic’s i could. Not to mention the razors are much quieter than that braun was.

What's the difference from dry and wet when there all fully waterproof and washable ? Which one do you recommend for acne and sensitive skin ?

Tim, I have tried everything imaginable. I even put a little saline solution in the new cartridge bc someone told me that They had same issue and it worked for them. Where is the sensor located? My series 7 is a 799-6c. But my base is the exact one you have except I have a quick clean button. I think I will call customer service tomorrow. If I find out the solution I will let u know. If you think of anything I could try let me know.
    Thanks

I just bought one to shave my mentally handicapped brother. The shave went great but the cleaning as me stumped. It went through the first few cycles with the green 3 drops flashing, but after 10-15 minutes it’s still the same 3 drops flashing and no further cycles? The handbook hasn’t helped me. Please someone help me you can. Kathryn

Tim, you said that the cleaning would not work if "it thinks it is empty".... I have replaced my cartridge, but the red light is on which indicates it's empty. Can't seem to figure out how to remedy. Please help

+Taylor Hughes That's odd. A new cartridge should reset the indicator light. I wonder if something is blocking a sensor. Have you tried unplugging the unit to see if it will reset itself?

I have the 5764 razor with the 5434 cleaning unit. I have the exact same issue today on a 2 month old unit. Filled the cleaning reservoir up , unplugged it, plugged it back in, it runs for 2 seconds, flashes an orange light, then a red, and it stops. No idea what the issue is. Spent 90 minutes trying to get it to work. Cleaned everything including the small drainage holes, and reset the actual razor by holding the start button in for 8 seconds. Still wouldn't work, and it worked fine 2 days ago, but today no go. Shame, good razor, but i'll try and return it to Walmart. Paid 150 USD for this thing, not cheap.

When you place the shaver in the cleaning machine do any lights come on? Has it worked before?

Is this better than the Wahl 5 star shaver & Andis shaver?

    • @JohnDoe-gm5qr

I never had either of those but i am never in the beauty supply stores that are likely to stock those brands.

Yes as far as the Wahl because I owned on. Much closer. You might not thonk so at first, but the heads are much stronger than the Wahl foil. I almost bought the Andis but got this on eBay. The foil was good so I cleaned it with water and my andis clipper spray. For 30 bucks, pretty good. I
Gonna get another one. You should try that route if you don't want to spend that I. The store but of you don't mind that. It's still worth the bread. The foil has to replace frequent on the Wahl Shaver. 25 bucks for these foils amd is supposed to last 18 months. Good luck. I think you like it

No. It does not turn on. Am I doing something wrong?

When you unplug the power cord from the back of the cleaning machine and plug it directly into the shaver does the charge light on the shaver turn on?
When you placed the container with the cleaning fluid into the cleaning machine did you remove the plug/lid? The machine will not turn on and clean the shaver if there is not enough cleaning fluid in the container or it thinks it is empty.

The Series 7 is terrible!. After a short time the LOCK switch first stopped working, then broke off while gently trying to move the switch. The underlying plastic of this switch is so terribly flimsy, it cannot possibly last more than a few uses. I have been a satisfied Braun customer, in the past having owned the Series 3 and 5. However, after paying such a high price for the Series 7 and having fall apart after such a short use. Shame on Braun for making such an inferior quality product and trying to pass it off as something of quality!
