Ray Mase is a all around class act! Ray was the trumpet teacher at the North Carolina School of the Arts when I was a Tuba student there. Had many quintet coachings with him, and a few private lessons. He was very giving of his time to all of us outside his studio, approachable, and an all around inspiration. For 2 years I was responsible for picking & dropping him at airport. Those times alone with him were gold nuggets of information and insight...some of the best lesson without pulling your horn out😁 One of my all time musical heroes.
It wasn't just the sound we were all in love with... 30 years ago, all the female gigging musicians had crushes on Ray Mase. 😁 Heck, maybe they still do.
