A lot of people think that Karate is just pure striking but the roots of Karate also have some grappling and the founders trained in judo too
Yes i was just thinking this
Fun Fact Oyama Creator of Kyokushin and Funakoshi Creator of Shotokan trained Judo, The Legendary Gigoro Kano and Kimura diamond of Judo trained Karate too.
Lendas estão sempre prontas para aprender algo novo
Judo in Cobra Kai! - BAD OR GOOD??
Also in original karate there was a bitof grappling. It just got filtered out when sent to japan
good: makes karate more deadly, complete and realistic
bad: kinda makes martial arts styles a moot point if they learn everything anyway
I mean Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai karate are kinda custom fighting styles anyways so maybe the students were taught these moves as part of their syllabus and it’s part of their styles anyways.
@@Epicthomas1000yes but it also takes from many actual real Martial arts, like how miyagi do is close to Goyu Ryu which means soft hands and cobra kai is Tang soo do mixed with shotokan or Kyoukushin.
Also... Karate has takedowns. Soooo it's technically still in the art itself
You do know this means you are admitting that you watched the entire series lol.
Awesome work with this video lots of fun to watch!
@@cvz8849 bad to have seen it?? 😂
I loved Karate Kid so I had to watch it too :)
I think John Hurwitz just needed people to train the cast so they hired a bunch of random martial artists like Judo Taekwondo Kung Fu and Karate practitioners
Great breakdown!
I noticed they did more judo throws throughout the show too- during the soccer game, Sam does an ouchi gari (season 3), Tori does a kata garuma during her introduction spar on Miguel (season 2), Johnny does an ippon seoi nage on Kyler at the liquor store fight (season 1), and Miguel does an osoto guruma on Robby during the final school fight (season 2)
Just how many different throws are there?
You missed out the perfect Seoi nage on one of the school teaches in the school fight that one of the kids gets paralyzed in😔
@@BenPerry-zf6cz ohhhh 😲
@@edu_triple haha it’s alright but that scene always comes to mind when I hear about judo in cobra Kai😁
YES THAT HIP TOSS FROM RICKENBURGER
Wow great throws❤❤❤❤❤
There’s also a deleted scene with Johnny challenging a BJJ teacher to a street fight!
BJJ over karate any day
@@jasonmadun5480 That's not true in the CK/KK verse
@@TheImmortaI BJJ is often considered more difficult because of its emphasis on ground fighting and grappling techniques, which require a wider range of techniques and positions to learn. BJJ also has a steep learning curve, and even experienced athletes may struggle when they first start. It can be challenging due to the intricacies of its techniques and strategies, and it demands a level of physical fitness, flexibility, and strength.
@@jasonmadun5480 I know about BJJ, its just not better than Karate in the show, nothing is better
@@TheImmortaI care to explain why?
it's good they admitted that they started to pick up stuffs from taekwondo, brazilian jiu jitsu and judo before filming for season 4 if I remember correctly
yk in traditional karate these type of throws r practiced as a part of karate
I Love this channel
what move used sam on the cobra of the house fight,i can see a takedown on a cobra during tory seoi otoshi
The Way of Ju 🥋
Someone likes Cobra Kai 😂
?
?
I believe there are also Judo moves in the Karate Kid original trilogy
Karate has throws, grappling as well as strikes.
The OG Okinawan Karate has both the striking and grappling components essentially mixed martial arts and hybrid martial arts
You mean Gōjū Ryū style?
Good. It shows that Karate isn't the only form of defense
Hello Eduard, Hope you get a medaille at the olympics !
Know that there are Nage Waza in karate kata's but they are "hidden"
Greatingq from Belgium
Miguel actually did an Ogoshi in the season 5 dojo fight
I know Karate has throws that are similar to Jūdō throws, some locks and chokes. But I don’t think you can extrapolate a rolling Okuri-Eri-Jime/Jigoku-Jime from Karate Kata. 😂
i love these series id like to see more
@@Horrendous_877 I give my best 🔥
You missed out one from Kyler.
wait wasnt kyler a wrestler before he started karate
Good!
You forgot the one Rickenberger did to the Director in T2 EP10.
not glazing but Robby is the most efficient and has the best throws and takedowns in the show.
I do okinawan karate and japnese jujitsu and muay thai but i use a lot of judo throws in randori
It's all Japanese Martial Arts that's ok and Gigoro Kano the creator of Judo helped Karate become popular in Tokyo it's normal in Japan people Learn Karate and Judo.
In Japan it's normal the Masters train with each other after all are all Japanese Martial Arts.
Good
Chozen did an osoto gari to Daniel
Karate wishes they were judokas!
Bro what💀
Ouch spoiler alert.
And that's supposed to be karate 😂😂😂
Karate also have Grappling skills people Forget Ancient Karate are a complete martial arts and very different of Modern Karate.
It is karate
And also appears in Karate Kid and Cobra Kai Aikido Techniques, but is Aikido Film Techniques, no Real Aikido.
Real Aikido Techniques > Aikido Film Techniques
Real Aikido Techniques are effective and Aikido Film Techniques are not effective but beautiful
Aikido Techniques have been seen use by Sr Miyagi, Daniel Larusso, Samantha Larusso, Robby Keene, Miguel Díaz...
no judo
Again someone who has absolutely no knowledge about Karate. Karate contains throwing, joint-locks and grappling techniques🤦♂️🤷♂️
