This is so bittersweet. I love Mordred more than any character ever, and this amv captured my feelings for her perfectly. My baby girl needs love, and she indeed found her dad in Kairi.
I wonder what Mordred and Artoria would do if they were to meet again during a Grail War, what their reactions would be, and especially how Artoria would react, if she feels guilty about what happened, after all I don't think she refused Mordred out of cruelty (that would really be out of character). I also wonder what Mordred would think of Shirou, she would probably be happy considering that he has succeeded in what she wanted to do, which is to free Artoria from the burden of kingship, at least in the fate route.
She didn't artoria denied Mordred Kingship since she knew how cruel and demanding it could be especially in her time so to spare her the torment she rejected Mordred to keep her safe not knowing the reason Mordred wanted to be recognized as her heir was so that she could finally have someone that cared for her as family

I sometimes think that maybe the true reason Artoria didn't make Mordred her heir is because the sacrifices she had to make as a king caused her alot of suffering, maybe she thought Mordred would not have been able to endure the burden, or didn't want her to go through the same things she did.

This is everything I wanted. That song matches perfectly. I wish their relationship could have been touched on more in Fate, I would have watched a whole series just about Camelot tbh. Whether a good father or not, the point is that Artoria herself accepted she never really had a "father-child" relationship with Mordred, in Artoria's eyes their relationship was purely of "King-Knight" and nothing more, Mordred never was more than just one of Artoria's fellow knights. In that sense she never was a father and never pretended to be one. At the very least she was mature enough to clear that up, at least before killing Mordred in Camlann. In the subject of Mordred being fit or not to be King the "canon" answer is no, she wasn't fit to be a King, regardless of how much Fate disorders the concept of what a King/Leader is, Mordred canonically never cared about leading people, a nation nor even Humans, she canonically hates humans and see them as livestock and all her goals are purely self-centered, she didn't felt anything for the knights that joined her in her rebellion, she just thought all of them were fools that rebelled against a selfless King (Artoria) and supported a cruel individual that never cared about them (Mordred) and those are not my words, those are Mordred's. She did had charisma in the sense that people could see her and go "woah she just like me" and follow her but the lore points that even the knights that joined her didn't thought she was a good leader, they just joined her cuz she became the face of the rebellion cuz she had a personal revenge against Artoria. Canon Mordred has never showed any desire of leading people and she herself came to understand her lack of leadership. While some other knights are highly described as people with a lot of charisma (Gawain, Galahad) or good tacticians and economists (Lancelot, Agravain, Kay) Mordred's main traits are her crude attitude and savagery in fights or basically nothing that could lead us to the conclusion of her being known for any leader trait. My point is, that while this fandom usually put on hesitation whether Artoria was a good king or not, Mordred definitely wasn't fit to be a King, her whole character arc revolves around how her own understanding of her desires went from wanting to be a king to wanting to relieve Artoria from the burden of Kingship. I think there is more arguments about how mordred was definitely not fit to be a king that actual arguments telling us she was.
I once saw a hadcanon about Saber Lion from Tiger Colosseum actually being reincarnated Mordred with pajamas and that makes the fanarts about Shirou and Saber taking care of Saber Lion as if she was their daughter even more cute.
