You have to catch them deep sea and keep them alive
Where and how are you catching the live bait ?
They catch them by boat and keep them alive in tanks - quite involved
I'd do the same with the Cob that died, fantastic eating. But remember, it's not a total waste if it goes back dead as this becomes food for another creature and it goes back into the system.
No Fish is ever a waste. Human, bird or fish will eat it.
