I can’t tell you how many times TCG Player stuff just doesn’t show up through USPS. I would say around 1 in 20 orders never arrives. What sucks is that you try to do the right thing and communicate with seller and you can just feel it in the conversation that they assume I’m trying to scam.

I order TONS of mtg cards. Probably 5 Percent of cards shipped with tracking that show delivered through usps doesnt show up in my mailbox. I suppose since after covid its probably more like 3 percent. I get neighbors junk mail constantly. USPS is pretty terrible.
Most common problem is USPS mis-delivering mail to neighbors, it gets returned by them, then you mail it again and hope it gets there the 2nd time (or just refund and move on). Second most common is buyers don't know their own address🤦♂️
I had a buyer that complained that it took to long for USPS to deliver their cards on a $6 order even though it only took like 6 days get from MI to CA and there was a weekend in-between. Of course sellers can control the speed of the US mail system, of course its our fault. On top of this type of ridiculousness, you then get held hostage by the buyer leaving an undeserved bad rating. My solution, refund the money and block the buyer. At the end of the day there are still more honest buyers than bad ones, and as long as you figure in 5% of lost revenue due to scammers or lost packages, you can still do alright.

I'm on the opposite camp side. I've been playing again for over 2 years and refuse to buy a card online. I wait till I can find it local or deal with life without the card. Sometimes it sucks, like I've been able to buy a playset of orcish bowmasters, lake of the dead, plenty of good stuff. But some stuff like solitude has eluded me. Only cracked one. But I'll buy a box of mh2 local before I pay for a solitude single online. But I also think it creates thrill. Cards feel accessible to me but not promised. So when I see a card I've been scouting for 7+ months show up it is a huge thrill.

You aren't wrong by blocking. I've noticed over the past 2 months the amount of issues with people sending cards has gone way up. I've got the O this came up and I never sent it and then I get a refund. It's been happening a lot. Don't go full in on just buyers being the scammers because I feel like sellers have been scamming as well.

In EU if you buy a card without tracking, if it's lost it's the buyers problem. If you add tracked the postservice will pay for the lost card if they can't find it after 6weeks. But 500€ is the maximum the insurance covers. Insurance for a letter within Germany is 1€ extra, I always use that if I buy over 10€.
If it’s our fault (obvious condition issue, etc)- and they reach out to us before leaving negative feedback then we do not block. But if you don’t let us have a chance to make things right we block. If usps loses package, there’s no way for me to tell the difference between that, and someone scamming. So we usually block as well. Just something we have to do. Too many people take advantage of sellers.
Dear buyers: if you are thinking of intentionally scamming a seller like this, please find some way to stop making the world worse with your presence. And the fact that he has to plan for it does not make it any less reprehensible.
Been selling my old magic on eBay for about a year or two, sold about 2,000 cards so far. Only been ripped of 4 or 5 times for less then 10$ each time. So not bad. Magic people are good people.
If I get fake cards I put the seller on reddit and such warning people. If I get scammed selling I do same thing. Make it as hard as possible for them.
Blocking for a 50 cent card is a bit harsh. I assume that for small orders under $1, the buyer is likely telling the truth cause it can't be worth their time either to try to scam you for that. I've both bought and sold and the amount of times usps has lost the package is many folds higher than anyone outright scamming me.
had a guy buy a dual land, claim it was fake, TCG made him send the card in to verify and HE sent a fake one to them as if it was the one i sent to them.
I had a package dropped off at neighbors house and tcg was great sent me a replacement then the lady brought it to me a couple days later I just sent the replacement back to tcg player im not about ripping people off I love the company and there support team. Its sad but most would have kept the cards but for me its not the sellers fault so I feel bad even asking for replacements on card orders.
Hi Louie - I watch your content and am an active member of the Sorcery community. It seems you blocked me from buying from you on TCG player. I bought an Alpha Quarrelsome Kobolds foil last month and I was sent a non foil. We had a friendly message exchange and I even left 5 star feedback. I assure you I’m not scamming you. In fact I’d give you the money back had I known I’d be blocked. Community is more important to me than the money. I guess that’s how it goes but I’m disappointed.
I dunno, seems like assuming that anyone who has an issue is a scammer versus assuming that I have made a mistake somewhere is not the way. I have almost zero experience with actual scammers, far far less than 1% or orders or order value
Tcg player needs the standard envelope like ebay does for cheap cards. Have all my cards i received from tcg player i dont buy a ton, only problem i had was a ding right in the middle of a card i was going to get graded said it was mint, i just let it go not worth it on my need to write and ask for a refund byit i would have been in the right for that issue alone.

Buylist them online with a reputed seller for store credit bro, seriously. I've been doing exactly what you are wanting to do for about a year now. Feels so good shipping off a pile of unused goodstuff, and mixed bulk chaff, to then use that store credit to get yourself some hectic +$400 cards you never thought you would own.

You can block buyers. But, buyers cant block sellers. Sellers also do not have a hard time getting negative feedback removed. Do you not see the problems on both sides? For every seller there are many bad ones. Just as it is for buyers.

Item not arriving is not HIGHLY unlikely. I've placed nearly 800 orders on tcg player, and it's happened a good amount of times. Tcg player isnt going to do crap, because I'm the money. This is the risk YOU take. You're going to end up blocking everyone, or getting garbage reviews.

I am nice about it and issue a refund with an apology, my block list is not the entire TCG community I can assure you, and the customer is more likely to blame me then USPS, ask me how I know lol

If you sell me a card that says it's near mint or even light play, and you send me a card with chunks taken out of it, I don't care if that card is 25 cents. You're refunding me. Absolutely zero to gain by a seller not sending you something because we have zero protection and will be forced to refund you even if we choose not to, but I will usually drop condition lower on purpose if I have any question about it and don’t get me started on foils, I won’t even list a foil above LP, tracking costs minimum of $4 and eBay PWE is fake tracking, just ask the post office….anytime I order eBay PWE it gets “delivered” a state away and I get it a day or two later, never going to win as a store and that’s why a lot of stores close, for most of us it’s a hobby, we’re not swimming in towers of money like Uncle Scrooge lol😂
it's not ok that it is always the seller's fault. that is a sh*t system. if anything, if there is an issue, it should be a digital coin toss to where sometimes favor is granted to the seller and sometimes favor is granted to the buyer. otherwise, people are going to game the system.

20 eBay standard envelope helps substantially. The 20-39 dollar orders always scare me because I don’t want to use ups ground adv on those lol

Was supposed to receive 2 legends cards worth $170 through USPS. Tracking says they arrived. Never got them. Did not file a claim. 😢
