You know this scene says a lot about both Eclipsa and the Magic High Comission. The Magic High Comission are revealed to be utter hypocrites and who go out of their way to do away or ruin anyone who goes against their status quo. They refuse to admit to any wrongdoing. Eclipsa though not perfect is the bigger person here. Any other person would be furious about what has been done and vow revenge and they would be completely justified, yet Eclipsa remains fairly calm and composed and she never tries to take revenge on those who wronged her and her family. Truly a great character.

Very true, but Eclipsa didn't adopt Festivia. Mewni royalty passes through the female line, so Shastacan was not truly a king of Mewni; he was a king-consort. If we look at IRL royalty, consorts to the monarch have very little power after their spouse is no longer able to rule, and them trying to take it is considered usurping. So him "adopting" a peasant girl in place of Meteora still doesn't make Festivia or her descendants heirs to the throne of Mewni. Shastacan being royalty from the Forest of Unlikely Spider Bites would make Festivia a royal heir from there, but not of Mewni. So, Star and Moon are absolutely still descended from royalty, just not rightful rulers of Mewi, and technically not Spiderbites either since that title fell to Shastacan's older brother. They'd be a noble house, but not a royal one.

She would have had to basically abdicate her throne in order to completely elope with globgore and since meteora was born after she had eloped; meteora wouldn’t have even been born a princess, at least not a mewmen one. We also have to note that while Eclipsa’s husband may have been a king-Consort he would still be the highest ranking member of the court with Eclipsa having now abdicated to be with globgore. One other part to note is the magic high commission. They seem to be the second highest ranking governing body after the royal family. With no queen it would seem all governing decisions fall to the M.H.C and the king, so if they decided on an heir in case of an abdication or death of a queen, that seems to be lawful.

So, yes, Moon and Star are legitimate royals, but since both Eclipsa and Meteora are still alive, that would make them the rightful ruler and heir of Mewni respectively, as well as the true owners of the magic wand.

When she eloped with Globgore she abandoned her crown and place in the royal court. This would mean that any child sired by her would be a commoner and not royalty. She also abdicated without warning so it would be impossible to grant her any title, land, or authority within mewni, this make Eclipsa a commoner of royal decent. In truth because of Eclipsa’s actions she has no claim to the throne, so neither does meteora. Festivia and the rest of her line are, by adoption, the rightful rulers of Mewni.

The show in general had a well structured concept but wasn’t executed right especially towards the end. I feel like with more seasons there would have been better character development, world building, and a more satisfying ending (which, not only was it rushed but ended in a cliffhanger).
What bothers me the most about this is that Star is actually wrong about being "nothing" or "not royalty", her and Moon are still very much royalty in that their fathers and ancestors are royalty. So regardless of Festivia's origins, Star and Moon are princesses through their fathers' lineages, not only that, but they're also still legit rulers of Mewny monarchy since their lineage has held the throne for longer than even Eclipsa's family. Like one commenter said, in real life, rulers aren't just magically born into rulership, they have to create their kingdom, then their descendants inherit the throne. In real life, the modern monarchy is descended from ancestors who have taken over someone else's throne. That's why you have different dynasties and royal houses throughout history. While it's true that Star and Moon are technically not real Butterflies by blood, their ancestor adopted the name and they are now part of that dynasty. They could also just change their house name to any one of their ancestors who married into Festivia's descendents, like Rivers or one of Moon's parents. That would fix the "Butterfly" problem. In the end, Eclipsa's throne was abdicated, and she is nolonger an eligible candidate. The people and the council also decide in real life who gets to wear the crown, and in this story, they chose Moon. So Moon is actually entitled to her queendom

im sorry but no way they hold power more than Eclipsa's family, the true Butterfly lineage existed throughout 27 queens until Eclipsa first reign and most likely existed for more than a thousand years with so many queens, while from Festivia to Moon there were just 7 queens, a lineage that existed for 300 years So from the first Butterfly, to Lyric, to Skywynne to Eclipsa there are way more queens and time than there are in Festivia family

Because in the end like in reality, the future/current ruler who takes the throne and establishes their descendants is the one who holds more power than the rulers of the past, regardless of how many queens ruled before. Eclipsa's family hasn't ruled Mewny for over 300 years and Moon's heir is still heir to the throne. So Star's family in the present time holds more power than Eclipsa's family
EXACTLY. They may not be the original butterflies, but they were still made the new rulers of Mewni after Eclipsa. So the throne is now theirs until it is given back to them. Which is what Star did.

I feel sorry for Festivia as well. She was accidentally abandoned at a Pie Carnival before being taken in by King Shastacan, who was used to replace Meteora as the next Queen of Mewni after he wanted nothing to do with Meteora. After Shastacan was killed by Globgor, Festivia was raised by the Magical High Commission and lived somewhat of a sheltered life within the Butterfly Kingdom. She was raised to believe that Eclipsa and Shastacan were her birth parents and that they were devoured by monsters. Festivia held some affection for them as a result, referring to them as "mama" and "papa" in her entries in the Book of Spells and saying she misses them. Despite this, she grew up very cheerful and starry-eyed, frequently throwing parties at Butterfly Castle with fellow Mewni royals. Her closest relationship was with Hekapoo, seeing her as an aunt. This was demonstrated when she was more perceptive to Hekapoo's idea of continuing the Mewman-Monster War instead of Omnitraxus Prime's idea of a peaceful solution. If only Festivia learned the truth when she was still alive.

Not necessarily, Butterflies, as far as I've seen, is just a title which can be passed around regardless of direct bloodline. Anyone in direct possession of the wand or it's magic, seems to just be given the power and even the marks, take Marco and Toffee for example (Ludo doesn't count cause technically Toffee was controlling the wand's power and Ludo was just aiming).
Cause Marco is the 1st of his bloodline to use it, who's to assume that the very 1st butterfly wasn't born with the marks? Maybe the wand is open for anyone to use, but after the 1st of one's bloodline uses it for so long, the next generation of their bloodline is naturally born with the mark?
So... since the Royal Archives are claimed to record everything that happens to the Butterfly Family, and it _clearly_ states that Eclipsa had a child with King Shastacan, the best case is that their child (most likely a daughter) either died in infancy or miscarried.

To be fair, real royalty don't have any right to the throne either. Every royal lineage started out as commoners. Governments are a social construct that do more harm than good.

Very true, but Eclipsa didn't adopt Festivia. Mewni royalty passes through the female line, so Shastacan was not truly a king of Mewni; he was a king-consort. If we look at IRL royalty, consorts to the monarch have very little power after their spouse is no longer able to rule, and them trying to take it is considered usurping. So him "adopting" a peasant girl in place of Meteora still doesn't make Festivia or her descendants heirs to the throne of Mewni. Shastacan being royalty from the Forest of Unlikely Spider Bites would make Festivia a royal heir from there, but not of Mewni.
So, Star and Moon are absolutely still descended from royalty, just not rightful rulers of Mewi, and technically not Spiderbites either since that title fell to Shastacan's older brother. They'd be a noble house, but not a royal one.

She would have had to basically abdicate her throne in order to completely elope with globgore and since meteora was born after she had eloped; meteora wouldn’t have even been born a princess, at least not a mewmen one. We also have to note that while Eclipsa’s husband may have been a king-Consort he would still be the highest ranking member of the court with Eclipsa having now abdicated to be with globgore. One other part to note is the magic high commission. They seem to be the second highest ranking governing body after the royal family. With no queen it would seem all governing decisions fall to the M.H.C and the king, so if they decided on an heir in case of an abdication or death of a queen, that seems to be lawful.

So, yes, Moon and Star are legitimate royals, but since both Eclipsa and Meteora are still alive, that would make them the rightful ruler and heir of Mewni respectively, as well as the true owners of the magic wand.

When she eloped with Globgore she abandoned her crown and place in the royal court. This would mean that any child sired by her would be a commoner and not royalty. In truth because of Eclipsa’s actions she has no claim to the throne, so neither does meteora. Festivia and the rest of her line are, by adoption, the rightful rulers of Mewni.

Dude me too! I’m rewatching this and just thinking about how it all ended is just sooooo disappointing. I still hope one day it can come back somehow.
The show in general had a well structured concept but wasn’t executed right especially towards the end. I feel like with more seasons there would have been better character development, world building, and a more satisfying ending (which, not only was it rushed but ended in a cliffhanger).

What bothers me the most about this is that Star is actually wrong about being "nothing" or "not royalty", her and Moon are still very much royalty in that their fathers and ancestors are royalty. So regardless of Festivia's origins, Star and Moon are princesses through their fathers' lineages, not only that, but they're also still legit rulers of Mewny monarchy since their lineage has held the throne for longer than even Eclipsa's family. Like one commenter said, in real life, rulers aren't just magically born into rulership, they have to create their kingdom, then their descendants inherit the throne. In real life, the modern monarchy is descended from ancestors who have taken over someone else's throne. That's why you have different dynasties and royal houses throughout history. While it's true that Star and Moon are technically not real Butterflies by blood, their ancestor adopted the name and they are now part of that dynasty. They could also just change their house name to any one of their ancestors who married into Festivia's descendents, like Rivers or one of Moon's parents. That would fix the "Butterfly" problem. In the end, Eclipsa's throne was abdicated, and she is nolonger an eligible candidate. The people and the council also decide in real life who gets to wear the crown, and in this story, they chose Moon. So Moon is actually entitled to her queendom

I feel sorry for Festivia as well. She was accidentally abandoned at a Pie Carnival before being taken in by King Shastacan, who was used to replace Meteora as the next Queen of Mewni after he wanted nothing to do with Meteora. After Shastacan was killed by Globgor, Festivia was raised by the Magical High Commission and lived somewhat of a sheltered life within the Butterfly Kingdom. She was raised to believe that Eclipsa and Shastacan were her birth parents and that they were devoured by monsters. Festivia held some affection for them as a result, referring to them as "mama" and "papa" in her entries in the Book of Spells and saying she misses them. Despite this, she grew up very cheerful and starry-eyed, frequently throwing parties at Butterfly Castle with fellow Mewni royals. Her closest relationship was with Hekapoo, seeing her as an aunt. This was demonstrated when she was more perceptive to Hekapoo's idea of continuing the Mewman-Monster War instead of Omnitraxus Prime's idea of a peaceful solution. If only Festivia learned the truth when she was still alive.

Anyone in direct possession of the wand or it's magic, seems to just be given the power and even the marks, take Marco and Toffee for example (Ludo doesn't count cause technically Toffee was controlling the wand's power and Ludo was just aiming).

To be fair, real royalty don't have any right to the throne either. Every royal lineage started out as commoners. Governments are a social construct that do more harm than good.
