We're about to leave Maine, but before we do we'll be taking on our toughest challenge yet. We're hiking Mt. Katahdin. This is an incredibly difficult hike, with an elevation gain of 4,000 ft in just 4 and a half miles. We need to complete the hike in 8 hours to make sure we make it back down before sunset.

Climbing Katahdin is always an accomplishment and having such great weather is a major bonus. I’ve been on top 6 or 7 times from almost every trail and have experienced beautiful clear skies, completely fogged in, wind like to blow you over, and being hailed on while crossing the Knife Edge. So much fun!
That's incredible!! Knife's Edge is definitely on my list!
Great job! I remembered that when I climbed Katahdin, I lost my phone at mile 1, crying and almost gave up at mile 2, finishing it at around 10 p.m. when everything is dark. But I glad I made it!
Great accomplishment! I did it via Saddle Trail from Roaring Brook in July of 2022. Took me 12 hours and 40 minutes, but made it :)
I climbed it last year taking the same trail as yourselves. You guys had good weather. You may have thought it windy but generally it's going to be windy. It's the rain you have to worry about on the wet rocks.
Great video and can't wait to take on the task.
Well done guys, well done I would have died trying but it was fun watching you all.
When did you hike this?
I definitely never would have made it but good job guys. Absolutely beautiful
Your bus is absolutely beautiful. It has a lot of character. I like the lock you have on the shoe cabinet but couldn't find it on your Amazon store. Could you post a link of where I can buy it.
Screw rhe 8 hours
YOU HIKED TO KATADIN SUMMIT 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
FANTASTIC
I seee I was there this week
Wilderness edge campground was a pretty cool spot
When you leave the parking after 6-7 pm , cars are becoming fewer?
Yeah, most people are already gone for the day
@@BasicallyNomads I guess the best time to arrive to katahdin is at night 7-8pm and get the parking spot for couple of days?! Multiday pass should be enough right or how to pay for the parking (at the gate)?
@@christianblanche1569 I believe the park closes and you’re supposed to leave at a certain point unless you pay for parking. I honestly can’t remember 100% haha
@@christianblanche1569 You cannot stay overnight unless you reserve and pay for a camping site. Gates into the park close and there is no access in or out.
Which trail did you guys actually do and where did you start from?
Abol Trail from Abol campground.
Hi, What trail is this?
Great vid dude!!
Now try hiking from Georgia to the top, it's one hell of an experience.
I did it when i was seven ,Mainer
Hiking stick is a good accessory, to make it easier, and proper nutrition...
Im thinking about hiking this mt for the 24 solar eclipse. It looks epic.
That would be incredible! Definitely recommend it. My favorite hike we've ever done as of now.
That would be a winter ascent. You'd need a guide and to prepare for winter conditions. Definitely not recommended for inexperienced hikers!
If you think about it and have the right maps, there’s a way to do it without needing a parking pass…also don’t need to be dropped off either.
Good job to all of you! :)
Thanks Lewis! Good to see you in the comments again!
@@BasicallyNomads ill always be here! :D I just have to remind myself to leave a comment to help you out haha, Merry Xmas to you all as well 🎅🏽
Crazy journey
Wow awesome. No donkeys or horses to take you up?
Nah, not here lol. I don't think they would make it up those boulders ha
I walked with my I think it’s 49 pound bag is a about 3 to 4 miles
COOL DO KNIFES EDGE
I wanted to desperately! The wind was way too crazy that day.
People climb it every day. Sorry it was so scary.
