How cool! In the early 1970's the dental instrument manufacturer I worked as an engineering technician had purchased a German made wire straightener using the same principles. I would straighten both high carbon and 402 stainless steel wire of 0.060" diameter that came from the mill. The straightening machine had a guillotine at the exit of the rolls that chopped the straighten wire into 6-inch lengths. Then I would grab a hand full of these blanks and feed them into an air operated centerless grinder to make perfectly round blanks for the many cam operated screw machines to fashion blanks for dental drills (burrs). Precision was essential and thermal lobbing the problem. I was working with typically five-thousandths inch tolerances for straightness and twice that for diameter (roundness). We used an optical comparator for quality control. You video caused this splash of memories of my past work life, I appreciated its motif. Thumbs up.

As a dentist, I appreciate the lengths manufacturers go to provide accurately diam and straightness of dental burrs... firing one up to 80k RPM and finding a wonky shaft is a bit unnerving... and rough on the turbines/bearing surfaces. And even a minute wobble can cause unneeded discomfort for the patient.
As a former QA engineer, I'd think five-thousandths would be excessive... aiming for 2-3 gives me more comfort.
Our latest problem has been a very thin film of material showing up on the burrs, like a heat-varnished oil, on gamma-sterilized burrs. I have to wonder whether there's a heat process being used instead (we are seeing lots of 'difficult-to-explain' characteristics in post-2020 overseas-produced materials.

Cool! In the late 80’s I worked as a toolmaker and we made flat steel and round wire parts, springs and stampings, and every single one of our round wire machines, had one of these on there called a wire straightener. Basically took the cast of the wire out making it easier to form with consistency. We also had a couple of machines that the mechanism you made actually rotates, while heated wire is being pulled through it, and those things go perfectly straight. Great work!!

I instantly recognized this as either a pipe straightener/bender or a wire straightener/bender.
I used to work at a place that had a smaller version of this feeding wire into nail machine.
I had to make sure the wire ran through it true & straight!
The wire came out the other side straight. Then the wire fed into some dies. The dies would close to grip the Wire then a punch would come in and slam the head onto it. The finished product was a nail for a nail gun.
There is a lot more to it but, that's the just of it & that's how they straighten the wire out to be made into a nail!
    Great job on the build!👍

Pick up your cross and follow Jesus! The world is quickly headed for destruction, and sooner or later you will have to sit at the judgement seat and give an account for your actions. Belief in messiah alone is not enough to grant you salvation - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36 (ESV is the best translation for John 3:36). Call on the name of Jesus and pray for Him to intervene in your life! - Revelation 3:20.
Contemplate how the Roman Empire fulfilled the role of the beast from the sea in Revelation 13. Revelation 17 confirms that it is in fact Rome. From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years going back to Babylon and before, C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate once you start a relationship with God tho.
Can't get a response from God? Fasting can help increase your perception and prayer can help initiate events. God will ignore you if your prayer does not align with His purpose (James 4:3) or if you are approaching Him when "unclean" (Isaiah 1:15, Isaiah 59:2, Micah 3:4). Stop eating food sacrificed to idols (McDonald's, Wendy's etc) stop glorifying yourself on social media or making other images of yourself (Second Commandment), stop gossiping about other people, stop watching obscene content etc and you should get a response. Have a blessed day!

    Very Nice Work!
And very good video of the process!
You could also change the thickness of the wire you are working with,
by making bigger roller guides, and changing them as needed
but you have probably already realised that
I am envious of your workshop and skills!

For this straightening die, carbon steel bearings can be used, because the bearings do not need to rotate very fast during the straightening process. And can reduce a lot of production costs. In terms of service life, it is similar to that of bearing steel.

      @SW-ii5gg 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Many of the bearings from the scrap pile at the electric motor shop would probably be ok as well as long as they were getting change outs for preventive maintenance before going bad.
