Excellent video, thanks. I get pain under the ball of my right foot, I have had this for years, far worse in hot conditions, and coming back now we finally have a bit of warm weather in the UK! I have seen various people, specialists etc. & have heat-molded insoles, wedges under the cleats. After seeing this vid I'll be experimenting with moving my cleats back a few mm - nothing to loose by trying!
I tried moving the cleats back on mine (just for an experiment, I do not feel pain or discomfort otherwise) and apparently I am sentenced to always having the cleats as far forward as possible - any other position actively hurts…
Any recommendations as to where I could get my feet measured correctly for my shoes. The guy in this video looks amazing but I cannot find any information.
I have been getting that feeling with my left foot and Shimano XC-7 (right is perfectly fine) which I think comes from my left being at least a centimetre shorter, so the size being somewhat off. After switching to Lake MX238 Gravel and experiencing the same issue I decided to loosen the lacing and that immediately helped… though I am really not convinced this is the right way.
There is this huge issue with cycling shoes: you cannot even try them on most of the time, you have to order online blindly. This is especially true for anything with half-size steps like what Lake have on offer (even online shops often do not sell the .5 sizes). Going to a different country for a bike fit is not an option available to many…
Not enough good competition in the shoe market ufortunately. Lake and to a certain extent Bont are the only shoe brands catering for the whole spectrum of foot types and width.
I have a tailors bunion on my right foot built up from years of riding with tight toe clips and straps, yes I'm that old. My fix was to cut a small slot in the shoe to prevent the rubbing and pressure where the bunion protrudes. I also buy wide shoes, Shimano ones with custom moulding. Finally when not using a shoe for a while I insert a shoe last with a drilled thread for a rugby stud to keep the shape and a small amount of clearance. Hope it helps others with this problem to prevent painful corns .
Yes! More bike fitting! This was very nice. Thanks

Great info - the suggestions here might fix my right foot/shoe issues!
Can you do a video like this for flat pedals & gravel riders please?

No Pain but left foot numbness . Starts feeling as though my sock is falling down then gets worse. Where do I get a real answer and solution ?
