Very comprehensive video. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd like to add some further tidbits: -The First War and Second War are essentially the campaigns of Warcraft 1 & 2(Orcs and Humans / Tides of Darkness) -Turalyon and Alleria are playable units in Warcraft 2's expansion, Beyond the Dark Portal. If they die at any point in the campaign, the mission is failed -Paladins and elven archers(and a few others, such as gryphon riders) for alliance are counterparts of Death Knights, Trolls, and Dragons for Horde, all new units in Warcraft 2; story elements were created to explain this. Alextrasza might not have existed if the Horde didn't need an aerial unit in Warcraft 2! (Luckily they did, as Blizzard wanted to make a strategy game that broke ground by featuring land, sea, and air units) -The baby you see in Lothar's arms is Varian Wrynn.
When I read the title of the video, it brought back memories of my little brother, dad and I playing Tides of Darkness campaign when I was 6 years old. Epic stuff.
I love these videos, the story of the Warcraft universe(if put onto film) could go on for decades. But back to the videos. These are so in-depth and insightful, that even someone who just is involved in the game(myself), can instantly be grasped by it's wonder. I am looking forward to WoD so much, to be able to stand and fight against or alongside these main character's like Uther or Gul'dan excites me beyond belief. Nobbel, you better never quit making these videos.
Thanks very much dude! I'ts actually DotA 2 that got me even more interested in warcraft lore, and I'm very glad I found you on TH-cam! Keep them coming :)
great video as ever! being someone who didnt play the early Warcraft games (or WoW until Wrath) it's great to see the full Lore stories presented in such a concise way, I catch brief snatches in-game but in an environment where most players just want to speed through instances you miss all the story and lore dialogue, so to hear it laid out in a nice way is awesome!
In my 12 years of being a lore fan for the warcraft games ive never saw one of your videos until today. I am so happy i checked you out, absolutely fantastic work and i look forward to looking through a lot more of your content! You have earned yourself a subscriber right here my friend :D
A must to complete Orcs and Humans, Tides of Darkness and Beyond the Dark Portal :) Just went through those game manuals after watching this video lol nice work :) Great childhood memories
Another great video Nobbel! Glad to see someone decided to connect all the dots and show us pretty much the whole picture about those two incredible lore characters. Keep up the good work buddy, cheers!
I think they should go in order of how old each race is in the lore, going from oldest race to youngest.1. Draenei. 2. Dwarves. 3. Trolls. 4. Tauren. 5. Pandaren. 6. Night Elves. 7. High Elves/Blood Elves. 8. Gnomes. 9. Orcs 10. Humans. 11. Goblins(As we know them.) 12. Worgen. 13. Forsaken. Maybe some nonplayable races at some point too. The Ogres have always been my favorite npc race. I want to play one!
Man your lore videos keep getting better and better. I joined your channel some time ago for the "how to solo..." videos but I'm liking the lore ones a lot more. Keep the good work.
Aside from great lore videos I just wanted to say huge thanks for that magnificent Alextrasza wallpaper! :D Link is outdated but it's first image when googling "Alextrasza art".
Saltedtorsk ehhh I think it was bad story writers that fucked up the world, considering he wasn't that bad of a guy in cata, then was all bad and racist in MoP
Raul Tejada If you think about it, Garrosh didn't really give a damn about stopping the Lich King during the campaign in Northrend, all he was doing was pick a fight with the Alliance. I think that is when he truely showed he was just plain evil
nobbel i just wanna say thank you and god bless you for your interest in warcraft lore, everytime i have to fall asleep i click on one of your videos as a nightstory (dunno what its called) but a story before sleep :) ps. keep being awesome!
"The story of Alleria and Turalyon. Let's make it short!" *tells the story of Warcraft 1, Warcraft 2 : Tides of Darkness and Warcraft 2 : Beyond the Dark portal* I giggled when I saw how much you were telling for a 'short version'. ^^ But still, it's very well done! As a fellow lore-fan, I'm happy to see your videos! :D
I don't know if you know much about it Nobbel, but I'd like to see a video about the high elves, and queen azhara, and their transformation into nagas and satyrs.. You think you can do that? Also gotta say that I LOVE your videos, as you can really see that you've put effort in collecting footage, artwork, and soundfiles. Just amazingly well done, keep up the good work! :D
To know all the lore by memory takes a special kind of person, like red shirt guy. Just all the names in this small part of the story can make your head spin, but it's fun to know bits and pieces and fill in the dots with the game. They are all connected and the funny thing is, trace back a story far enough and you end up with either Old Gods - Titans or The Burning Legion.
Warcraft 2 = Beyond the Dark Portal which I cover in part 2 of this video. After the defeat of Doomhammer they destroyed the portal and Turalyon took command. The portal would re-open and that's WC2.
thanks for the lore man, really makes wow more fun, knowing the story of the game makes it 10X better in my opinion :) keep doing what your doing dude. oh, and if i can request something, could you do a series of lore for all the faction leaders, perhaps after the new leader of the horde is announced
Varian his weapon is called Shalamayne so it's not the weapon Lothar used. It's uncertain what happened to the Blade of the Lion. It's possible that Neferian found it outside of Blackrock Mountain and reforged it into Ashkandi Greatsword of the Brotherhood, but that's only speculation.
Not destroyed as we know it today, but it was pretty dead. Using the demonic powers given by KJ corrupted the land. Draenor used to look like Nagrand but it turned into the dry land that we see today. It even spread through the dark portal and turned the land in Kalimdor from a swamp to the Blasted Lands.
Great video, but it kind of cuts off at the most important part if you're talking about Alleria and Turalyon. I hope you have more about their adventures beyond the Dark Portal in the second part!
From WoWiki: Northern Lordaeron is a name used to refer the unnamed closed zone wedged between the northwestern border of the Eastern Plaguelands, the northeastern border of the Western Plaguelands, and the southwestern border of the Ghostlands. Currently it is an inaccessible zone in-game that may be part of the fallen Kingdom of Lordaeron or of the Kingdom of Quel'Thalas. Also this is the place where the Thondroril River is born geographically.
I enjoy these videos keep em up, I like the lore of Warcraft especially the 1st and 2nd War along with the war of the ancients. I am also wondering if you could do lore on Kael'thas Sunstrider (or Sunstrider Family in a whole), Troll Empires, Nagas or Dwarves(Iron,Earthen, Ect) as a few that come into mind for you next videos.
Thanks alot i have been really curious on this for a long time. Im wondering if they would use it for something in the future which would be cool. btw i watch like every lore vid 5 times i love them! you are the most interesting person to listen to on the topic of lore :]
Lothar was ambushed according to warcraft 2, which came out before the book. I like the original warcraft 2 version more as it is my childhood seeing poor Lothar getting killed.
Proud to be Alliance. Such rich lore full of mythical heroes who won impossible victories or fought and lost to become stronger,or died a legendary death. For the Alliance!
If I'm not mistaken, the dark portal was created before Draenors destruction. Then, the warlocks attempted to create more and more portals to other worlds, thus causing the shattering of the world.
With Stormwind they send scouting parties and took it over a longer period of time. In this part of the story they had Zul'jin on their side, he was familiar with the land.
I love your videos and have been watching a lot of them for the past few -hours-, but could you possibly do one on the entirety of the Sunwell? All things tied to it, I mean.
Nobbel, Dude i love your vids. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, and all the research you do.If someday you write a wow encyclopedia i will buy it :)
Excellent work as usual, do great job with explaining the lore which was big reason why i got into Warcraft 'n WoW in the first place (well that and thought the Orcs where awesome:P in old warcraft games) even though don't play it anymore and don't plan to any time soon but will keep an eye on your channel and also with the upcoming patch since seems some big changes are coming Horde wise, I didn't know Gul'Dan was in Medivh's head when he was killed though, interesting.
Nobbel I love your videos. Not just the videos themselves I enjoy the fact I will watch one of ur vids and ill have a new question but. Hey, Nobbel has a video for (at question) Love it, Keep up the good work,
Wish I could, but I'm not great at making gold + engineering is not the best profession to do it with. I have an old guide on farming primal air with Zapthrottle Mote Extractor, but no idea if that still works.
The annotation was to correct myself for what the Alliance did. I said that they entered the high elves their ships, but they actually marched across the land. ^_^
Can you do a video on Chromie if she's relevant and has enough interest to do so? And you should consider doing full videos on each of the races if you haven't already, preferably starting with Blood Elves and High Elves? :)
The next part would be their expedition to Draenor, right? Gorfiend would join forces with Ner'zhul I believe and the orc horde will act up again, and Alleria and Turalyon and Khadgar stop them... oh man I'm excited for that next part:D
Nobbel can you do a solo guide to Grull's Lair because I am having the worse time with it because I cant stand all the stuns, polymorphs and such. love your videos and I envy your accent, have a good day/week.
HEY NOBBEL! AWESOME IDEA! Alleria as new Warchief :3. I know its not realistic but with the potential for a patch 5.5 anything could happen right? :D *fingers crossed*
When Medivh helped the Horde he was possessed by Sargeras. After he died Sargeras's spirit left his body, so when he came back to life in WC3 he was a good guy.
Medivh is the Guardian of Tirisfal, a special super-powerful mage who was chosen to fight the Burning Legion in secret. His mother Aegwynn was the Guardian before him and killed the Avatar of Sargeras. But when Aegwynn did that, Sargeras's spirit entered her womb and when Medivh was born possessed him. Medivh grew up with Sargeras in his body and ended up creating the Dark Portal for the orcs to attack Azeroth. His apprentice Khadgar and best friend Lothar killed him and freed him from Sargeras.
Excellent video. Well I know for both of them entered dreanor(outlands), with the others heroes(Khadgar, Kurdran, etc.) to chase down the orcs, but when the gates were reopened only the two of them were missing somewhere in outlands. Mb this will be in part two?(did I spoil) :D
"But Turalyon had turned the blade at the last second, and struck the orc with the flat instead of the edge."From Tides of Darkness.
"they called this Alliance....the Alliance.."
They called this allinace pigs 🐽

3:02 Dat WCII Tides of Darkness cinematic still sends chills up my spine

The loading screen tip has been updated to say "Nobody has seen Alleria or Turalyon in years. Still" for 6.0.2/WoD
and now it says 'Until Now!'......haha!
They're back now!
great video as ever! being someone who didnt play the early Warcraft games (or WoW until Wrath) it's great to see the full Lore stories presented in such a concise way, I catch brief snatches in-game but in an environment where most players just want to speed through instances you miss all the story and lore dialogue, so to hear it laid out in a nice way is awesome!

Been hoping for this video for a long time, the lore surrounding Turalyon and Alleria is amongst my favourite in the game. Awesome!
A must to complete Orcs and Humans, Tides of Darkness and Beyond the Dark Portal :) Just went through those game manuals after watching this video lol nice work :) Great childhood memories
Excellent work buddy, sometimes while reading lore you can get lost into so many details but this is easy to follow. I can't wait for part two.
Another great video Nobbel! Glad to see someone decided to connect all the dots and show us pretty much the whole picture about those two incredible lore characters. Keep up the good work buddy, cheers!

Agree, Turalyon is big on lore. I'm glad you made a video out of him.
Aside from great lore videos I just wanted to say huge thanks for that magnificent Alextrasza wallpaper! :D
Link is outdated but it's first image when googling "Alextrasza art".
Kill an Alliance leader, and the Alliance fights harder. Kill a Horde leader, and their ranks crumble.
So much for the horde being badass xD
Not really, You have to remember that Garrosh pretty much fucked the world up. And he really fucked the Horde up
Saltedtorsk garrosh has nothing to do with the alliance beating the horde as doomhammer killed lothar the alliance fought harder
Saltedtorsk ehhh I think it was bad story writers that fucked up the world, considering he wasn't that bad of a guy in cata, then was all bad and racist in MoP
Jeremy Bolt he has been bad since cata, hell going back to burning crusade there were some gaint red flags
Raul Tejada If you think about it, Garrosh didn't really give a damn about stopping the Lich King during the campaign in Northrend, all he was doing was pick a fight with the Alliance.
I think that is when he truely showed he was just plain evil
ahh... thank you very much!! I really love your lore videos! I like understanding a bit why happens what... Gives the game a lil edge ^^
nobbel i just wanna say thank you and god bless you for your interest in warcraft lore, everytime i have to fall asleep i click on one of your videos as a nightstory (dunno what its called) but a story before sleep :)
ps. keep being awesome!
These videos are well put together and you do a great job of explaining the story lines. Good job
Glad you talked about this, a part of the lore that i really enjoy :)
THEY ARE FINALLY HERE
I can't wait until i get to see the ending cinematic! I'm so excited!
finaly I wanted you to do that so much time ,since I saw that tip,and you finaly did it.
oh and gread video .
"The story of Alleria and Turalyon. Let's make it short!"

GREAT WORK once again! :)

Also gotta say that I LOVE your videos, as you can really see that you've put effort in collecting footage, artwork, and soundfiles. Just amazingly well done, keep up the good work! :D
This was one of the best videos that you have done so far. I love the lore, keep it up :D
Aww you guys & girls are so nice, thank you! Glad you all enjoy it ^_^

Proud to be Alliance. Such rich lore full of mythical heroes who won impossible victories or fought and lost to become stronger,or died a legendary death.
For the Alliance!
Hiya neighbour!
I read those novels while on vacation last week. (all 4 of them) And I remember them from when I played W2 as a little 8 year old.
Nah we didn't have loading screen tips back in the day, I think they introduced that with Cata? And this tip appeared during MoP beta.
Dude love your vids. Just subbed the other day and I have watched all the lore vids. You're awesome man
I´ve love your videos, i was not able to conect all the lore of the game on my own , so thanks :D
Grtz from Colombia
If I'm not mistaken, the dark portal was created before Draenors destruction. Then, the warlocks attempted to create more and more portals to other worlds, thus causing the shattering of the world.
i don't care about wow lore that much but these videos of yours are really fascinating to watch!
With Stormwind they send scouting parties and took it over a longer period of time. In this part of the story they had Zul'jin on their side, he was familiar with the land.
Woo, more lore, thanks! : )
It won't be the next video, that will be part 2 to this story! but I'll add it to the list.
love these lore videos
I love your videos and have been watching a lot of them for the past few -hours-, but could you possibly do one on the entirety of the Sunwell? All things tied to it, I mean.
These Lore's are epic!
Nobbel, Dude i love your vids. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, and all the research you do.If someday you write a wow encyclopedia i will buy it :)
THANKS SO MUCH love your vids man love the lore haha
I've touched a little on the background for each Horde leader in my "Who will be the next warchief!? video. I'll add this one to the suggestions!
love these vids mate, keep it up
Excellent work as usual, do great job with explaining the lore which was big reason why i got into Warcraft 'n WoW in the first place (well that and thought the Orcs where awesome:P in old warcraft games) even though don't play it anymore and don't plan to any time soon but will keep an eye on your channel and also with the upcoming patch since seems some big changes are coming Horde wise, I didn't know Gul'Dan was in Medivh's head when he was killed though, interesting.
Definitely!
i love ur vids man seriously like were awesome!
Nobbel I love your videos. Not just the videos themselves I enjoy the fact I will watch one of ur vids and ill have a new question but. Hey, Nobbel has a video for (at question) Love it, Keep up the good work,
That first 3 minute part would do GREAT as a movie.
I would like to see that myself, don't know about the rest of the community.
Wish I could, but I'm not great at making gold + engineering is not the best profession to do it with. I have an old guide on farming primal air with Zapthrottle Mote Extractor, but no idea if that still works.
This story is awesome, i love it! :)
I love your videos, man. Subbed!
I found it on WoWiki, but I think the picture is made in Caverns of Time - Culling of Stratholme.
It was confirmed at BlizzCon that there won't be Turalyon or Alleria in Warlords of Draenor.
But I heard the panel said they would be in the next expansion.
AFTER warlords of drenor
they're finally coming back very soon :)
Kender Hozuki lol Legion Survival guide
Hey man i love the lore vids. For future videos could we get subtitles or something though? I'm finding myself pausing alot to take in all the info
The annotation was to correct myself for what the Alliance did. I said that they entered the high elves their ships, but they actually marched across the land. ^_^
Hey man, +1 for all of your videos :D.
I love the lore, but i'm just to lazy to find it myself XD.
Grtz from Belgium.
Still waiting on my Burning Legion Lore Vid >:D another great video! keep it up!
Really nice video, is part 2 out yet or coming soon?
Can you do a video on Chromie if she's relevant and has enough interest to do so? And you should consider doing full videos on each of the races if you haven't already, preferably starting with Blood Elves and High Elves? :)
Found it on Google, search term "Alexstrasza". Placed a link in the description!
Amazing! Love it! keep it up!
Was like 3 seconds about Alleria, though nice lore video :P
Your intro just got you a sub.
I would say no, because she won't die during the siege. If she would then so would Varian, Jaina & Lor'themar.
It does infront of blackrock mountains
Medivh is the Guardian of Tirisfal, a special super-powerful mage who was chosen to fight the Burning Legion in secret. His mother Aegwynn was the Guardian before him and killed the Avatar of Sargeras. But when Aegwynn did that, Sargeras's spirit entered her womb and when Medivh was born possessed him. Medivh grew up with Sargeras in his body and ended up creating the Dark Portal for the orcs to attack Azeroth. His apprentice Khadgar and best friend Lothar killed him and freed him from Sargeras.

And he came back in legion! i got goosebumps the second is saw him.
Yep, one of the three visions.
It's crazy when you know more about the fictional history of a fictional, virtual world, than your own, real 24/7 world :D
