JC, the biggest testimony to your integrity is how well you've trained Frankie. Well trained dogs are happier, and less stressed, as they know exactly what you want from them. Keep on making vids, you give me hope that someday I can have a cabin in the woods- Until then, I'll just have to hang out with you, here on TH-cam... Scratch Frankie for me....
Franky is such an awesome dog! It’s obvious he has a tremendous amount of love for you and that you take great care of him. I love to watch him help you gather and collect the kindling. After seeing him get you a beer 🍺 I was just amazed. I wish I had a helper like that. When I landscaped my backyard, my dog would come out at the end of every day and check my progress and inspect my work. Too bad he never helped though lol 😝
Another great video, I like the project videos where we can see the overall cabin and grounds improving but then again all your videos are interesting. And Frankie is a credit to you, a proper bond with his master. I have a lab and just when you think there is a human brain in his head he grabs his toy and goes to play with it and you realise they are a fun companion for you to share your troubles with and also get into trouble with😀

I just love your videos. There is a peace and tranquility that sets your videos apart from a lot of the typical homestead you tube channels. I can really tell you love your life and it makes me want to get out of the rat race and own my own slice of paradise. And I Love Frankie! The mountains, the seaside...are both wonderful, inspiring places...but there nothing like the "woods" or the forest, with hidden fields of wild flowers...oh well, I could go on and on...Needless to say, I do enjoy your "working and living in the woods" videos! Thanks for sharing.

That More Power Puller by the Wyeth Scott Company is the absolute last come along you will ever buy. I bought one a little under a year ago. So far I've pulled my pontoon or of the lake, pulled two 400+lb boulders out of their home in the ground, helped fall a couple of tricky trees, one near a hydro line, down safely, and used it to square up a small wood shed before I sheathed it. Indispensable tool. And one that will last, if cared for properly, for generations. Well past a hundred years. Probably well past two hundred years. Old design. Works perfectly. I can't say enough about it...as you can probably see haha. Cheers Boss. Happy Homesteading!

Another great informative video JC, thanks! Always look forward to seeing Frankie in action as well, excellent job on training him. Dogs are easy and natural learners as they always want to please, all you have to do is take the time and pay attention to them, which you clearly do. :-) And you have plenty of time! My dog goes almost everywhere with me, and people always ask how I got such a good dog, and how did you get her to walk with you without a leash? Easy, pay attention to them and interact, they will naturally learn what you want them to do.

Good video, JC. I like the tip about using florescent tape. I should use that on all my stuff. I use a short, wide strap when anchoring around a tree, whether when doing stuff like you're doing in the video or winching out a vehicle. Call it a "tree saver". Much nicer on the tree. Also, if your cable starts getting really taught, throw a blanket or jacket over it. If it breaks, the blanket will stop it (or slow it) from snapping back in your face. Place the blanket 2/3 along the line away from you.
I use to teach recovery operations in the Army. what you had was a 2 to 1 ratio. if you had an other pulley, you could run it back to what you want to pull and it more than triples your pulling power.
I love your videos. You seem like an easy-goin guy, just enjoying life. I understood your love of working in the woods. My dad was a logger here in Northern Arizona for 25 years. He passed that love of the woods on to me. Have a great day. Don't dream about work : )

Good video, JC. I like the tip about using florescent tape. I should use that on all my stuff.
I use a short, wide strap when anchoring around a tree, whether when doing stuff like you're doing in the video or winching out a vehicle. Call it a "tree saver". Much nicer on the tree. Also, if your cable starts getting really taught, throw a blanket or jacket over it. If it breaks, the blanket will stop it (or slow it) from snapping back in your face. Place the blanket 2/3 along the line away from you.

what you had was a 2 to 1 ratio. if you had an other pulley, you could run it back to what you want to pull and it more than triples your pulling power.

Being in the woods as the snow melts is one of my favourite times of the year to be in the woods. I agree with you, working in the woods is really enjoyable. Liked your comments about work haunting you. It haunts us all!
