    Small hack for Foilkites. Pack your Foilkite like it was when you got it brand new. Put it in a pillow cover and pretend it to be a pillow. You may have 2,5kg extra on your flight 😉

    I have a video idea for you. What lasts longer, a white kite or a black kite (i.e. like Core, where those are the only choices). You could get two pieces of brand new kite canopy and leave them outside flapping in the sun for a year, and then strength test them to see which breaks first.

    Thanks for the packing tips - I will review again before my trip from Lisbon to Dakhla, Morocco in May. I love my small electronic scale too!

    my friends just use some vaccuum bag with their foil kites (flysurfer 15/19), they put them inside, empty the air and save some volume in their bag.

    Bubble wrap for the wing boards for sure. And 100% - being nice at check in has saved me $ quite a few times.

    Nice job guys as usual. I always wrap my boards with wetsuits especially the ends, instead of in a ball. See ya soon🙏🤙👍

      Would that rip the wetsuit on impact?

    There nothing like the last day dry and de sand. Highly recommend protecting foil gear as much as possible. Had mast and wing chipped.

    If you want to add extra cushion to the edges of your surfboard or foilboard /wingboard, cut a poolnoodle in half and wrap/tape it to the edge around it. It’s drop safe 👍🏽

    Havent dared to fly with my kite gear yet. In summer there is car vacation to southern Europe (Italy or France) and when visited Aruba and Florida i rather rented some gear for a session. But the day will sure come when its going to happen so i check this vid again than :D

      I got my boardbag more often ripped then serious damage to the twintip. Except in Vietnam when they dropped my 30kg gearbag 2m from a small plane 🙈 hopefully the stuff unloading the bag didn’t get hurt or buried 😂😂

    What are your thoughts on getting the Ride Engine electric air pump instead of the bulky, manual air pump? Especially, since you use foil kites as well LEI.

    • @OurKiteLife
      @OurKiteLife  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Definitely saves some space compared to a regular manual pump. I don’t have experience with the Ride Engine one, but as long as it’s not super heavy (it looks to be pretty small in photos), I think it could be great for travel.

      @@OurKiteLife I just returned from Cuba and was the envy of the kiters there because I brought an electric pump. Mine is the Airbank brand and is excellent. Pumped my kites all week, as well as others, without having to recharge it. Of note, because it's a lithium battery, you need to bring it with you on the plane as part of your carry on. Stowing it in your checked bags is not permitted due to the potential fire hazard. I predict these electric pumps will be the new standard very soon.

    If you need to save weight, put your harness or just the spreader bar in your carry-on.

      Talked about protecting the boards to avoid damage in the video (wrapping in a cover, towel, bubble wrap). Haven't experienced damage to kite gear otherwise though - perhaps we've been lucky. If you have any additional tips, let us know!
