    • @dylanroot6401
      @dylanroot6401 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +59

      The reason why players get into scrums after hits, even if clean, is because you don't want the other team thinking they can just run all over you guys with no repercussions.
      The more players get hit, the more they get worn down and can risk injury. Sticking up for your teammate after a hit shows that you aren't going to be pushed around as easily.

Fighting isn't the answer though...you are supposed to just wait and let him forget about it and think he is safe and then line up his numbers later in the game and put him in hard. Mostly, and from what I've understood from compilation since I never read the rulebook, hits are to be upper body to upper body contact only (shoulder to shoulder, shoulder to torso...)
      But any hit to the head, legs can be extremely dangerous and cause concussions or just KO and they're illegal.
      I believe that hockey hits are harder than in football because of the speed players can reach but also the physique necessary is different between the two sports. But I'd have to read about it as well.

    Can't wait to see what happens next year with TO having Reaves if players make those kind of hits still on them.

      Watching Reeves on the Rangers for a season and change - expect him to have no impact whatsoever. He was great in the locker room, but he did absolutely nothing as players were slew footed, goalie ran every night, late hits, etc. He fought 2 or 3 times and it was always like a personal grudge, never because the team needed it or trying to turn the tide. He is not an enforcer by any definition of the word. Just a guy who can fight. That's why he was traded. He was just taking up a roster spot and not helping the cause.

    Most are clean but if you get rid of the instigator penalty, you’ll eventually see these hits taper off. The puck carrier has to do a better job at who’s around him

    The hit on slavin may have been clean but it’s just a dirty thing to do. Slavin is one hell of a defenseman but he’s also one of the most pacifist players in the nhl like that’s hockey’s dad right there he doesn’t play dirty he just plays out of the love for the sport and he’s good at it! Breaks my heart to see him leveled like that and i can’t imagine how his daughter felt watching that.

    5:40 I love seeing players get fucking smoked off good, clean hits. It is such an integral part of hockey that is sorely lacking in today's NHL. (in my opinion). The greatest players don't get pissed off from a good hit, they recognize that they fucked up from not seeing it coming, then they move on.

      @jamesrennie747 Yes, keep your head up. Duh, obviously. That's the golden rule. I've been playing hockey for 26 years. But you know as well as i do that at certain times you gotta look down. Not for very long, but yes, when its in your skates or along the boards, you have that split second that you have to regain control of the puck.
      You know another golden rule though? You dont strike when they're vulnerable. At least in my eyes, it makes you look weak. How is it any different than a hit from behind?
      We all know not to hit a guy with his back turned. We have a penalty for that. And we all know not to turn our back while 2 feet out from the boards. However, it doesn't make it okay. And there is a penalty for that.
      It's called respect man. RESPECT.
      When did you start watching hockey? Last week?

    Remember when you could check someone and not have to fight afterwards? This is what really slows down the NHL and turns people away from it. How about hit one of their players, or score a goal as retaliation. Fighting isn't going to stop the player from checking someone else on the team, it just slows down the game big time.

    • @vl292
      @vl292 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Good point. MVPs though have been protected by goons for a long time now. That first hit on kadri is a prime example. He literally run into the defenseman. It could not possibly have been cleaner hit, but you cant touch our little princess. Lame

    • @ltxero4303
      @ltxero4303 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      weird you say that, because the fighting is a fraction of what it used to be, so im not sure what you mean

    • @ltxero4303
      @ltxero4303 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      and if you think this you don't fully understand the dynamics of the sport. If fights happen less, injuries and nasty plays happen more. Fighting has always been more about keeping everybody in line when the refs cant more than anything else

    • @vl292
      @vl292 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You could make that claim that it keeps it clean. However there are several pro hockey leagues where there are no fights and the game is clean with similar or lower injury rates. So i dont think there’s enough evidense to support that claim. Maybe even the opposite is true, think how many players have prematurely ended their career due to multiple injuries and how many goons have died due to issues related to bare knucke fighting. So if you weight in the pros and cons, I think there’s even less reasons to allow fights. Especially after clean hits, which is just silly and ladyboy-like.
