This was incredibly helpful! I bought this last summer and I had no idea how versatile it really was. I feel so stupid. BUT I love that you took the time to record a video on it! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
THIS is the video that places that sell the Move should have that showcases its ability! One question for you: I am not a DJ. For parties at my house, I want a system like this that I can plug in, turn on, start the music and have it "react" to the music. I think you mentioned that this system has that capability, does it?
Thanks Leo and Alex. I just purchased this light and I’m excited to use it and get the effects of it. I would usually take 2 pars for small events and 2 moving heads got larger or formal events. But as you mentioned it’s going to save a ton of time.
Thanks for watching. Yes you can spot like the entrance as long as the light is connected to a DMX controller. One thing I have noticed is that the moving heads tend to lose their "center" and their positioning starts to get off.
You did a really good job for a TH-cam video and you took the time I have a question I have a gid bar move and I don't no how to use the top lights for the lasers
Thanks for watching. This depends on how you are controlling the fixture. If you are using a DMX controller make sure you are selecting the correct Channel. Also make sure you have the light set up for DMX and the correct number of channels you are going to use. If you are using DMX software make sure you have the correct light selected. Again also make sure the light is set to the correct DMX channel and number of channels. Check your manual for how to do that.
Thank you so much for yet another highly informative video. You guys truly deserve so many more subscribers, as well as a brand partnership with a DJ equipment company. The level of detail you both go into, as well as your DJ knowledge, your Gig Logs, and thorough breakdowns of each piece of equipment you’ve shown, has led me to my final decision to purchase the EV Evolve 50s, selling my traditional PA speakers, and their lift and lower stands, as well as making a decision on which Dj pool makes the most sense to move forward with after dropping Digital DJ Pool, which lost most of their major label support last year. Heavy Hits made the most sense for me, and due to your great review of DJ pools, the features it lacked didn’t cause any disappointment for me, since you already listed its pros and cons very well.
Great Vid. If you were going to use that as your main lights for a gig, where would you position them in relation to your DJ table? Would you have them off to one side, or does the stand have high enough reach to have them behind you, without your body blocking a lot of the lights to the dance floor? can see the potential to have one either side of you, because they link up.
Thanks for watching. Placement is a personal preference. I prefer to be off to the side and set up my speakers and lighting as close to the dance floor as possible. With that I would be ok placing this light in the middle of the two speakers or if you want to swing for two of them then one at by each speaker. I am not a fan of setting up lighting behind the DJ. I always feel that is just lighting the DJ.
Housemixer Leo D thanks, I ended up buying a gig bar 2, love it, think I’m going to buy a second and run one as slave and have them left and right of my booth and speakers
Thank you so much Leo D and Alex, fantastic video! Thank you both for your time and detailed review, this is one of the best reviews I've seen! I'm starting out as an Elvis singer to backing tracks, do you think this light would be too much (overkill) for what I'm doing or would I be better off with The Chauvet Wash fx Hex lights? I will be singing in some clubs with a stage and also bars. Thanks guys, your help would be greatly appreciated! Kind regards,
Very cool. Thanks for watching. In my opinion, if you are going to highlight yourself then I would use wash lights. I feel that moving head lights, lasers, and Derby's are best to be pointed toward a dance floor and not at a performer. Good luck.
Thanks for the video, very informative. One question, the manual has setting for speed (0-99), does this setting control the speed of the moving heads, or all the lights (strobes frequency....etc)?
Yes as long as you are controlling the light with some type of DMX controller (Hardware or Software). The moving heads are not the most accurate. We have noticed that over time they tend to drift off center. Also they don't have a good stepper motor so their movements are very ridged. Thanks for watching.
Appreciate the informative video you got a subscriber. I'm s club DJ and I'm just coming to the wedding side and was looking for some light recommendation for a newbie. Do you happen to have a wireless mic recommendation mid-range price?
Thanks for watching. I use Shure mics, around the 600 dollar range. You want to make sure you can control what frequency and channel you are going to use. This will help in venues where there is already some PA installed or another DJ is close to you. Plus many of the systems in this range give you the ability to upgrade the antenna's that they use. This helps with range.
I very much like this but I need it for patriotic holidays. Can you get something like this in red white and blue? Or can you make this thing do only red and blue and eliminate the yellow green and purple?
Thanks for watching. The laser cannot do specific color combinations only those that are programmed. You can do Solid Colors or all Colors mixed. What you could do is get creative and as long as your budget works for this. You can get three of these lights and make each on do a specific color. Set one to Red, another to White, and the last one to Blue.
@@lman2677 Sorry, I thought you were commenting on a different video about a different light. Yes, on the Gigbar Move if you connect a DMX controller to it (Hardware or Software) you can control what colors are displayed on the Moving Heads, Derbies, and Pars. So you can do any combination you like. With a DMX controller you can control each section independently.
Are you talking about the 5:37 mark? At that point Alex was just controlling the light with the IRC controller. I think you have to set the light to accept the remote and then just choose the color on the remote. Thanks for Watching.
Thanks for watching. I use an American DJ Fog Fury 2000 and I use the ADJ Premium Fog Juice. The fog is water based and should be safe for most smoke alarms. But you should always check with the venues first. They should know if it won't be a problem. Just mention that the smoke is water based.
When we recorded this video, we did use a fogger. Definitely need something in the atmosphere so you can see the beams. Otherwise, the light is good. Fog is just as good a haze, the difference is the delivery.
Good question. Alex, the owner of the light in the video, has moved on from this light to some larger wash lights and larger moving heads. Like most things I feel everything has a place. This is a good entry level light. But as you progress into bigger and better things it just makes sense to get the "best of breed" in wash and moving head lights. If I were just starting from scratch without any light effects I might consider getting into this unit. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for watching. I feel the beams are bright enough to handle a small to medium sized party. For me that would be anywhere between 0 and 100 people. Not sure what you mean by "does it also angle?"

What type of DMX Software is this? Do you suggest show x press? And what type of interface do you need to hook the gig bar move to the computer?
Idk if you found the profile yet but I did. All you have to do is update the profiles within the mydmx 3.0
Very cool. Thanks for the update.
What the name of that remix you were using for this ?
Would have been great if the light was shown without fog as not all venues permit the use of haze/fog.
Thanks for watching. Not much of a show without showing the body of the light itself.
Did you use a hazer or fog to get the full effect? Or haze spray? If you can’t afford a hazer lol
