      @@ItsGregKon So, fun fact, Oviraptor translates to "egg thief" based on the fossil discovered with a clutch of eggs. At the time people assumed the chicken lizard was stealing the eggs thus the name. New research found that the dino was falsely accused and was actually the parent. I thought you might appreciate knowing its complicated history.

But I think that's what they were going for in the final film after various director's attached and story rewrites. But it still doesn't stop me from loving this movie. Besides, the facial expressions on the characters are 100% better than the facial expressions in The Lion King remake.

    Okok hear me out , i just saw another review on this saying this films story actually was brilliant and for the reason she did ,(Rollo Descendants video, Check them out!) i think i know why it may be forgotten.
    The story really is full of survival predetor prey action scenes, but i dont think this is something modern humans relate to personally. This was portrayed in a movie where you follow characters that are speaking english but essentially express dinosaur feelings and goals, and rather than a fully nonhuman Nature documentary with a fictional first person story plot. A usual nature documentary is a movie made of a nonhumans life is from human eyes, this set out to be a nonhumans life through nonhuman eyes, without refrences that refer to human culture that essentially break the fourth wall, which i feel was the films goal. this format may feel bland to humans because humans really see the world like this much anymore. Jurrassic park is still more popular i believe because it still interacts with ascpects of human culture, and isnt isolated in a almost national geographic documentary like state, as well as it ISNT from the dinosaurs perspective.
    i have huge bias towards the Dinosaur movie as a transspecies individual and related to this far more than any more complex plot that centered around human societal issues that seemed boring to me. Its a common sentiment my transspecies friend group shares , especially when not really being phased by the english speaking and then immediate roaring of the dinosaurs, some say its jarring, but this "english but still nonhuman" feeling is something that we relate to particularly but see how this wouldnt work for humans

    • @ItsGregKon
      @ItsGregKon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's an interesting take, I'm glad this movie resonates with you! I suppose that blend of nature documentary and anthropomorphized animals you've described just isn't for me 😊

    • @stardolphin783
      @stardolphin783 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ItsGregKon thanks for replying! In the way Dinosaur took it, i wouldnt even see it as anthropomorphization , but really a direct translation of nonhuman motives into english and facial expression only for the sole reason to understand ceartain parts of the film without a disembodied narrator which really a huge like new thing, even the disney nature docs didnt try this approach, i literally cant think of any other movie that has done this blend of genres keeping the characters essentially engrossed in their fully nonhuman world
      Land before time is probably the closest( which is also a faveorite, especially the very first movie), though i think there are a few human pop culture refs throught the movie series.

    Count _me_ as part of the fandom for this film (😊). With that said, I _respectfully_ disagree with you that its story is ‘bland.’ From the number of times I’ve watched this, the story *never* came across to me as bland or boring. Even though it’s a story we’ve all seen been told before (like in the first “Land Before Time”), I for one feel it’s at least _written, presented,_ and _paced_ well and competently. IDK if many people take _presentation_ into account when it comes to stories in films that are familiar.
    Yes, there’s exposition in “Dinosaur,” but I don’t think it’s ‘spoon-fed’ or ‘forced’ down audiences throats at all. I feel it’s _just enough_ to where audiences are able to keep pace with what’s going on.
    CGI continuously advances year after year, no two ways about it. But even if “Dinosaur’s” CGI *is* a _little_ dated, I for one feel it’s _still_ impressive and competently executed, and the way the CGI character models are animated does a decent job of having each character convey emotion.
    But these are just my two cents (😊).

But I would use the entire family from Encanto and make them cave people and make a new movie called “Disney Pixar cave people and dinosaurs.”
      I would combine the animations of the Disney dinosaur, the Croods, and Encanto. It would have the locations from Disney Dinosaurs in it and it would be 2 hours and 50 minutes long and make it a musical. It would even have action and adventure in it too. It would have the actors who did the voices of the Encanto family and it would have other actors who can sing amazingly.
      It would have the dinosaurs from Disney Dinosaur (only bigger) and more dinosaurs that we didn’t see in Disney dinosaur that can talk in this movie. Also In this movie, cave people can talk to the plant-eating dinosaurs and they jump high, swing on vines, and climb trees like the lemurs in Disney dinosaur. The meat-eater dinosaurs wouldn’t talk in this movie like they did in the Disney dinosaur movie. There would be more locations in this movie than there were in the Disney dinosaur and the croods movie.
      The character Aladar would still exist but he wouldn’t be the main character in the movie. The main characters are a family of cave people who live on an island with other cave families. The island looks similar to Lemur island from Disney dinosaur only bigger. There is a mother and a father who have four daughters, the cavewoman who strongly resembles Mirabel is the oldest, the cavewoman who strongly resembles Isabella is the middle daughter, the other two are the youngest and they are twins and both strongly resemble Luisa except both them have very long hair.
      The cavewoman who strongly resembles Mirabel is 22 years old, the cavewoman who strongly resembles Isabella is 19 and the twin cavewomen who strongly resemble Luisa are both 15. Also, the cavewoman who looks exactly like Mirabel has a husband who looks exactly like Mariano Guzmán from Encanto and has a daughter of her own named Suri who is 5 years old and looks like a female version of Disney's Tarzan when he was a child and she loves to swing on vines and slide on trees. She also likes to do a female Tarzan yell.
      The twin cavewomen who strongly resemble Luisa are very strong and taller than their sisters just like Luisa is in Encanto but not as tall and strong as her father and they have a close relationship with their niece Suri and always tries to be there for their niece. The cave sisters would have a grandmother who strongly resembles the grandmother from Encanto, a grandfather and three aunts, and three uncles.
      Ugga from the Croods would be the mother of those four cave girls. The movie would be about a family of cave people who are trying to find a new home after their island home is destroyed by massive deadly meteor showers. The cave family along with dinosaur companion Aladar are the only survivors. The rest of the cave families were killed by the deadly meteor showers. They will have to travel far and face many dangers that lie ahead of them. For example, Carnotaurs, T-rexes, pterodactyls water meat-eater dinosaurs, raptors, and spinosaurus. Even Earthquakes.
      There would be a scene where the twin cavewomen who look exactly like Luisa sings a prehistoric version of the song the lion sleeps tonight with their niece Suri while riding on Aladar just to be funny. It would be called the T-Rex sleeps tonight. I would use my reality-warping powers to have this movie released in 2025. This movie would be for adults too because it would have adult jokes in it and other adult things. It would have a different opening, it would show more of the island before it gets destroyed. The meteor shower scene would be longer and more deadly and massive. Aladar would be voiced by Ted Leo.

    Most marvel movies especially endgame spoonfeed their audience way more than this; no further look in the pointless moment of Hawkeye Receiving a call from his wife right before thanos attacks the compound at the end which completely takes away the suspense of if the blip worked or not. Also Waymore worth existing Then a lot of other “technically advanced” movies that are popular and Have done way better, Especially teaching and getting people not even just kids ready for survival and portrayed in a very serious but natural and still relatable way. Seriously I owe a lot of my life from what I learned from this movie, which is a main reason why is my favourite Disney let alone one of my top favourite movie of all time:-)

    I also watched this so many times and also totally forgot this movie! I can't remember anything about the plot at all. Except that some of the visuals you used made me remember that there is both a sort of bully character and an enemy dinosaur. I totally didn't remember that ocean scene at all.
    It's so wild that a movie that probably cost so much to make (and took so much time/computer power) is so forgettable.
    I wonder if there's a bit of a pattern to that. The other highly visual movie I remember that kinda flopped was Avatar. It didn't flop in the same way. But, it definitely relied on its' visuals to look cool and didn't focus on the writing very much.
    If there's a ratio of investment to impact, these both score quite low.

    Do not reply to this comment with swear words I mean it I hate swear words and don’t reply with a rude reply either if someone doesn’t like this comment then don’t reply at all. I thought of an idea and I know this is weird since reality-warping powers are not real but I’ll say it anyway because I wouldn’t be able to do it with time travel. If I had reality-warping powers, I would erase the Croods characters except for Ugga, the Disney dinosaur movie but I would use the deadly meteor shower scene it for my movie, and erase the movie Encanto from existence because it’s terrible but I would use the three sisters from Encanto and make them cave girls and make a new movie called Disney Pixar cave people and dinosaurs. I would combine the animations of the Disney dinosaur, the Croods, and Encanto. It would have the locations from Disney Dinosaur and the Croods in it and it would be 2 hours and 50 minutes long and make it a musical. It would even have action and adventure in it too. Im sorry but your criticisms of the movie make no sense.
    1. Sure the hair stuff doesn't look good but the facial animation does look good as they show emotions and stay consistent with their character models.
    2. Using still photos,? I dont know what you mean but in the examples you showed it is literally a background landscape, if your gonna use still photos to conserve budgets those seem appropriate seeing as though landscape tend not to move as much when no living element is interacting with it.
    3. This is the one that is the most confusing, the movie spells out to you? Like the main ideas that you talked about being present in the movie were not spelled out to us in the way that you described it, sure they talk with another and those ideas are present and being conveyed through that dialogue but this is something all movies that have a message do: how else are the main themes present in the story and how the characters related to those themes supposed to be conveyed.
    Network does this.
    Apocalypse now
    Fight club.
    Dialogue and monologue helps to inform us about their characters I don't see anything wrong with that.
    How can you call it a tech demo when the characters all have arcs to them?

    • @ItsGregKon
      @ItsGregKon  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The biggest problem for me is exactly what you described: the story is told directly to the audience, rather than shown. I found the story weak, and the visuals decent. It just didn't work for me. Different strokes for different folks!

  • @Hadrosaur838
    @Hadrosaur838 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So, do I recommend this movie as an underrated masterpiece or some bs like that?
    Oh hell to the mf no!!
    If anything, it more than well deserves some negativity, and should be long forgotten.
    After blindly worshipping this movie like a complete idiot, I finally see it for the bland, emotionless dumpster fire it really is.
    First off, choosing to do anything with these monsters at all will only go downhill from that point on.
    Second, does the audience even learn anything? The answer; hell no. If the overall message of the movie is that "we're stronger together," They have a real shitty way of telling it. Why? The damn protagonist is just your dull "hero" character that can do no wrong, a Gary Stu if you will. And if the protagonist has nothing to learn from this, then the audience has nothing to learn.
    Another thing, their attempt at emotional scenes just falls flat on its face. James Newton Howard is a hell of an artist, don't get me wrong, but music isn't everything, and if that's all we have to rely on for an ounce of whatever emotion they're trying to convey, we still get practically nothing.
    Lastly, the movie's just so damn boring. Outside of the cgi, which is meh when compared to today's standards, there's really nothing much going for the movie other than what I've mentioned earlier. Hell, I even fell asleep throughout half of the film.
    And given several of the deleted scenes, and the amount of times people actually left the project, I can see how the film's potential dropped, like it had much to begin with, since giant lizard monsters were the focus.
    But, that's just me.
