OMG You are a genius!!!! The dress is so beautiful. I can´t wait to try it myself. Please keep posting, it´s so hard to find good sewing content around here.

Thank you so much ❤️I’ll try my best. Got two little ones that keep me busy but I like making videos so I try to post as much as I can

You came up in my youtube recommendations, and I love what you made! It is beautifully fitted and made:) I love the double zipper idea!

Thank you for reaching out :) I was worried it wasn’t going to work but luckily it works pretty good and I love having clothing serve multiple purposes so a two-for-one is always good in my books 👍

I just found this channel but I love it. I usually watch sewing videos first and later I like to put same videos to background when I sew something myself. I feel like I have someone sewing with me it keeps my inspiration on:)

I feel you, I usually have a sewing video to keep me motivated and on task so I’m thrilled I can help you ❤️

The double zipper trick is genius! I've definitely got to try that out sometime❤. The dress is soooo cute 🥰

Thank you❤️one tip I’ll give you (I think I might have mentioned it at the end) but it will be 100x easier to incorporate the zippers by attaching them to the “good side” of whatever shell you’re going to use before sewing the neck and arm holes together. My process lead me to doing it after the fact but I think that if I were to do it over again I would 1) sew all the bodice pieces with zipper excluding the side that will have the reverse placket 2) add placket 3)sew the neck and arm holes with the method of turning them out for clean finishes on both sides 4)sew open edge by hand to zipper 5) add skirt to one shell 6) hand sew or stitch in ditch other shell to finish
Hope that helps I find that trying to explain my process was a bit hard to understand.

Very clear.... I actually love working with zippers and I'd like to try using invisible zippers to eliminate the need for plackets maybe 🤔

@Afro.hemian I need more practice with them. I find my machine doesn’t like the attachment for them so I end up sewing with my regular foot then going in with hand stitches to get closer to the zipper teeth. I make the mistake of using them in very tight fitting garments and I find it’s harder to keep it fully hidden. Maybe I need to make the lining tighter and the shell a bit looser so that it doesn’t pull the teeth open as much??? Now my brain is in overdrive

@@brookedweller i totally understand what you mean! When using them in really tight fitting garments i tend not to sew as close to the teeth (they tend to catch alot) I'm totally okay with it not being completely "invisible" if it means that the zip works better...

This just came up in my recommended and I'm so happy, I just saw that dress on Pinterest yesterday and added it to my to-make list! Awesome work in the process, and the finished product is so cute! I know the struggle of not being able to decide on fabric haha :')

Thank you so much! I’ve seen it on Pinterest for a bit now and I keep seeing drop waist garments so I thought I’d take a whack at it.
Choosing fabric is always difficult since I end up wanting to make both options then end up with separate pieces. So being able to have it fully reversible is 👍

This is incredible! You're an absolute genius! I wish I knew how to sew like you ❤ Bought my first machine about a month ago and I have no idea how you did all that 😅

Haha thanks 😊 congrats on your first machine! Best thing to start you off is making small things just to test out stitches and how to work with fabric. I started when I was pretty young so I’ve got lots of practice but I would make dog toys or small pillows for my pets to practice before I started making clothes out of my dad’s old tshirts.

@@brookedwellerWoah thank you for the response! And for the tips! I tried making a linen bralette out of ripped sheets - it was difficult! Those are great ideas for more projects no one has to see ❤

@Star-Pilled I think with any craft the first attempts won’t always result in what you want but as long as you push through and keep trying it will get better with practice and time :)

@@brookedweller definitely! I find sewing kind of addictive so I wasn't upset by the results at all lol I just want to keep going!

Great solution and the dress(es?) came out so cute!
Did you consider a reversible zip? That was my first thought after buttons, but I'm not sure if it would be too bulky on a dress

    • @brookedweller
      @brookedweller  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

I didn’t have one on hand but I did also worry about the bulk sitting under my arm. The zippers I used had very small pulls so I knew it wouldn’t bother me as much haha. But yes I did consider ripping up a tent to use its zipper :)
