A convicted hacker is probably more trustworthy than a “mainstream” vpn. Ironically they collect and resell your data lol, and let’s hope they don’t “spy”. Face it, either your isp knows everything or theirs does.
Anyways one important thing I must say @Byf is please don’t include the lie “it makes your connection faster,” that’s not even possible unless your isp was restricting you from torrenting. But in general they actual make your speeds slower, as it’s an extra bridge to cross.

Love this lore. Love Oryx, Savathun and especially Riven - but I also love HOW CLUTCH THAT BOSS FIGHT IN THE BACKGROUND WAS HOLY CRAP
I had so much anxiety when the timer hit 0:00.
You could do something really cool here, with a dramatic re-enactment of the tale of the Awoken. As Riven recounts her story, every time you come to a word in brackets, you switch voice actors. Something along the lines of:
PETRA: I am myself. All my memories. Everything I was. All the
PETRA & ULDREN: Bargains
ULDREN: I have made. That was all me. And yet. I have taken a new shape. I am
ULDREN & MARA: Riven.
MARA: I have new directive. I am
MARA & ORYX: The King of the Taken.

@@rileyholloway9182 It's a bit pie-in-the-sky as concepts go, isn't it? If I was helming such a venture, I think I'd just go with sound-alikes. (Although maybe pinging the relevant VAs on Twitter might bear fruit, depending)

Basically whenever Riven bargains with someone they get the short end of the stick no matter how good the deal. Hell, she even tricked Oryx. Not only did Oryx take her, not only could Oryx not use her or summon her, but he died, and Riven regained control over her body. Only Savathun was able to Uno Reverse Riven's wish against her. What's next, Xivu Arath plunging the Sol System into endless war, but she continuously dies over and over again until her worm kills her?
Everyone is wishing wrong they should wish for something miner lowering the chance of something bad happening for example: people should just wish for a sandwich
@@whisperoftheworm6479 Here's something about Ahamkaras, especially Riven. No matter what, even if you are very specific with the wish, even if that wish was just something super simple yet detailed, an Ahamkara will, by their very nature, twist your wish in a way that will negatively impact you more than positively impact you. When Riven made the Dreaming City, she specifically made it so the city was vulnerable to sieges, and as we all see with the city now, it is in shambles. Those that bargain with Ahamkara, including Riven, never win.
@@whisperoftheworm6479 The adage "aim small miss small" really only works when you have a larger plan at play. If you're aim is to take over a city, Riven will know that and use any wish against you in that plight. Making the wish for a sandwich seems small at first, but most people need food to survive. We don't know entirely how wish magic works. Is Riven simply fulfilling the wish by moving forces around the world? If so, she could be taking that sandwich from the place you're trying to take over. Or is Riven simply creating a force? If so, she could be creating forces that ultimately help her as well.

I love that the ahamkara break the fourth wall to tease us about our gaming habits.
Even the great ahamkara dragon, Riven, doesn't know how to handle Savathun... I feel that this upcoming expansion is gonna tie up a LOT of loose ends.

Happy to see another Riven video she is by far one of the most interesting (and my favourite) character in the game having been taken in a strange way and being an Ahamkara

The Taken condition has always baffled me. We know what it does to the mind and the will of the afflicted but the energy itself and the condition of the body has always been vague.

One of the things I love about Destiny; always being reminded that we're just as destructive as the beings we're fighting. It's all a matter of perspective.
And the concept of history repeating itself, down to tying into the fact that we repeat the same missions over and over.
(Which leads to the theory that this is all just a complex simulation that the "Gods" are running. Also why Riven breaks fourth wall because it's aware of our reality.)
I often give webinars for my job and I just wanted to say that I value you as a resource of how to present info in an engaging way, the knowledge on the Destiny universe is the icing on the cake
I can always rely on Byf for explaining the lore. When I don't want to read.

You're surprised by this? Given the importance of who Oryx was, and who were related to him, of course he'll still be relevant today.
Just shows how much of a feat it was to defeat him. Even after all these years Oyrx is by far the strongest we have faced. Raw power wise probably more powerful than Savathûn in some ways

Should xivu arath be known as the goddess of war or the general of darkness? Based off her approach to handling the invasion of the dreaming city and my (albeit very little) knowledge of how she gains power. What would be a more appropriate title for her?
She is working as an agent of darkness. But she is the goddess of war, he sword logic is that she gains power by the amount of conflict she generates. Plus, no one said that she was a "general" of the darkness
And Xivu-Arath is hunting down for Savathun because darkness is telling her to of Savathuns betrayal to the darkness, branding her sister as a heretic like their nephew Nokris and the darkness despises heresy

Something tells me, as powerful as Riven is, the will of the winnower will not be stopped. If the darkness says Riven is gone, it will be so.
Even though Darkness is the main enemy here but come on you have to agree with me that Savathun herself is probably the most infamous antagonist that we’ve faced she’s basically like Palpatine but more immortal godly and smarter than him

How many hive gods are in our arsenal along with the last Ahamkara (taken too). Xol, Oryx. The reason the Darkness are keeping their distance, by the sword logic we beat their champions the Osmium Dynasty, I know not using the sword logic but their core philosophy was vanquished for the first time. Savathun and Xivu Arath remain are the pyramids awaiting for the out come of those conflicts.? We know little about the winnowers core design apart from inflicting the "only the strong survive and deserve to survive" philosophy upon the multiverse. With the gardener oddly we know less apart from the assumption that the Traveller is a manifestation of them and therefore we are assumed to be blessed by the gardener.
What if they both see us as vessels that can channel power irrespective of the source and which ever way we follow will see the end of the light /darkness saga leaving us with the responsibilities for the universe.

There has been a question that I have been thinking about, which probably has a simple answer: How come we can bring back Taken Tech Witches? No other being that has been Taken has been able to be saved (minus Riven, but she was still Taken). Is it simply that the Tech Witches are that strong that they can be saved?

you posted this the same week i got a consultation booked for my massive riven tattoo, and i like to think that it was fate. riven is such an incredible character, and this video really highlights exactly why i adore her - but way more eloquently than i could while sherpa-ing my friends through last wish.
I think the Ahamkara are some of the most interesting characters in Destiny. I hope we see more of them later.

Very good question it's just like the flower game it's unending but needs Gardner and winnowner present even if it's self sustaining it doesn't end due to the sheer mass of the board and ever changing state of the flowers involved the only way to break that would be if my guess a rule or few needs to be broken or changed in a way that yields a new result that exhibits a change in game state
Is it just me, or has the audio on these videos gotten a LOT quieter lately? for the last handful of videos, I've had to turn my laptops volume up to 100, and I STILL can barely hear Byf... and then when whatever the next video auto-plays on youtube, having my laptop at max volume blasts me with so much noise I feel like my ears are going to bleed!!

I think he’s using a Subtle Calamity. It’s the only void precision bow that’s legendary that I can think of.

I have like million questions about that egg in the hub, like if its corruped can it be uncorrupted snd other on is that its an egg so is it fertilized and does it need to be our not like in ants to produce life, how can it hatch? I think that riven knows those who come to try will not succeed in some way or another. Riven is a paracausal entity that can most likely see reality and the in between so it doesnt mind the bargain because its a difference. Imagine everyone was everything and also nothing and the inbetween and riven sees it all and is it all but wants to play since its currently in that form so it makes deals with its power for entertainment. Savathun’s ambition definitely surpasses Oryx, idk about power….granted when Crota was killed his power kinda dropped since that whole tithe system between the two were severed I don’t believe the king of the hive was weaker than his two sisters when he straight up took their power in the ascendant plane for his own. Just my thoughts, maybe I’m a die hard oryx fanboy👀
