I used to like this song. I would walk along the streets of Manhattan,NY. Singing this song. I thought it was nice. I didn't really get it was a sad love song.😅 I was a kid at the time. I ain't know nothing about what she is singing about.😂 I liked it though, it spoke to my spirit.💜
I want to thank you Debbie. My daughter was born in 19/77. yeah, you made this song Yeah you made this song I was pregnant and I knew he was on his way out and I would sing this song to her by the window in my yellow kitchen. I was pregnant with her and even after I had her, she is my life she kept me going. I want more than anything in the world. She was my Celeste. She is 47 now I still feel the same way. She was more worth it than her father way more worth it. I hope one day she finds this comment and realizes what she meant to me. And you realize how much this helped me through life thank you so much, Debbie.
I grew up on the east side in Baltimore Maryland and this is one of the songs the music teacher had us singing in elementary school in the 60's. She would roll the piano inside our classroom and start teaching us this song and other songs like Senor Don Gato and Downtown. I believe in my heart that is where my love for music started. As years went by I wanted to play clarinet but ended up on the trumpet. Then I wanted to play drums but ended up playing piano. I still remember those songs she taught us in elementary school and I appreciate them. Her name was Ms. Detheridge.
We want to thank you Debbie Boone for this powerful songs. It reminds me of a time when my father passed away. I was so depressed and I needed a lift me up song. This is the song that helped me get out of my depression. ❤❤❤❤❤

It does that when things seem hopeless. It reminds us that love gives us strength to get through anything.

It’s actually a gospel song
No it is not really. Debby Boone was asked if it was a song about God and she said NO it was not.
When I sing it to The Giver of Life, Jesus Christ it is. God bless you@@janetoconnor3636
