They wrote this song to a Brazilian singer, but she didn't recorded it because se thought the song didn't suit her. Years later and after Cazuza's death, Frejat gave this song to Cassia Eller. "Malandragem" was her most known work.

She was such an incredible and unic singer, was friends with cazuza, Renato Russo from legião, she also recorded some covers form other rockers in her time, "lanterna dos afogados" from paralamas and "por enquanto" from the first album of Legião Urbana, scuh a beautiful song about "saudade" wich is a very particular word and feeling for us brazilians...

Malandragem is a song composed in 1988 by Cazuza and Roberto Frejat that gained notoriety in the voice of Cássia Eller, becoming the best known song of the singer.
The curious thing, however, is that the authors composed the song specially to be recorded by the singer Angela Ro Ro. Upon hearing the song, Ro Ro refused to record it, saying that the lyrics had nothing to do with it ;-)

Cassia eller is a true hard rock musician. This melodic song had been written to another older female musician, who refused to play it for it sounded a little silly to her. Cassia performed "smells like teen spirit" at a live show and that was amazing.
Cassia was a gay woman and a brilliant mucisian. She died at age 38 of a heart attack on Dec 1999. She was few months younger than me so I was her fan since we both were in our 20's. She have great songs and she was and is very popular. "Malandragem" was written by Cazuza and Frejat when they still were members of the pop-rock band named Barão Vermelho. They wrote this song to a Brazilian singer, but she didn't recorded it because se thought the song didn't suit her. Years later and after Cazuza's death, Frejat gave this song to Cassia Eller. "Malandragem" was her most known work.
