For me, it depends on the person. I'd take used stuff from close family. I'd also reuse stuff from my previous pregnancy (save a whole lof of money). Afterall, they grow so fast
As for the car seat in Maryland you must have a car seat and you must bring it inside before they discharge the baby. They take the car seat and the baby for about and hour and do a “car seat test”. Once your baby passes, the baby is discharged. My daughter was premature and she was too small for the car seat. They wouldn’t allow us to use the newborn comfy insert for the car seat that would let take up some space and allow her to fit a bit better. They tested her for 2 days on and off they’d keep taking her and the car seat to test. They finally rolled up some of those hospital baby blankets and put them around her and said she passed with them. At that point I was so close to walking home with her in the stroller!! We lived a mile front he hospital
Oh yes they don't want the padding in it. They were saying my son was too small and they fixed him until he was able to hold in it. So maybe they would've done the same.
You bring the carseat inside with you on the day you are being released. Depending on babys weight sometimes there is a car seat test. If not, baby goes in seat and off to the car ❤
I had my daughter at Andrews in Jamaica. We had a car seat, but I remember being shocked when a nurse followed us to the car to visually verify we had one. I was very surprised by that.
Buying stuff for me I would do thrift stores but I feel weird buying from them for my baby especially my newborn. I know it’s the smarter and more efficient way as baby grows out of their clothes pretty fast and it will save a lot but I’m just not comfortable with it.

I took use clothes from my family for me and my baby. Not sure if I would be comfortable to take it from other people though
How do you feel about buying it used like once upon a child and other thrift stores?

I feel like that too. I'll thrift things that can be cleaned and sanitized but I'm skeptical about the clothes and fabric type stuff.
