    Sevu Reece is quality. Goes looking for work. He's not content to stand out there on the wing and wait for the ball to come to him. With him and Will Jordan, plus George Bridge and Rieko Ioane, we've got no shortage of dynamic wings at the moment.

    If Rieko wants to take his game to the next level, he needs to take whatever advice Akira took and learn to start passing a bit earlier. His line breaks are fantastic and it's great that he backs himself or wants to wait to the last possible moment, but he often holds the ball a little too long when just releasing the man outside him would be better overall.

    • @mikescudder4621
      @mikescudder4621 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The thing is, if you if you pass too early you dont commit the defenders, for example, if its a two on one and you pass the ball early without drawing the defender, you botch opportunities. Happened in this game, cant say if it was Reiko though...

    • @mikedangerdoes
      @mikedangerdoes 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mikescudder4621 Yeah draw and pass is a fundamental and effective skill that even children should be able to do without too much trouble. The thing is Rieko has been guilty of holding the ball more often than not. You can also see that he does commit the defender but has already committed to trying to beat him and so misses a chance to have Reece wide open. Looking at the angle though and the speed he's running it's probably a pretty difficult pass to make anyway. But like I say, it's not the first time he's done it and Akira has shown the value of making the break and then letting someone else finish, even if most of us would back him to beat a defender or two in open space.

    • @johnlee7998
      @johnlee7998 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wouldn't say it was close... the ABs dominated. The Argies defended with heart and were staunch, causing the ABs not able to convert all their territory/possession advantage into points. But in terms of attacking threat, the ABs had the Argies well contained when they held whatever little possession they had.
      If I remember correctly, there are 3 or 4 missed/disallowed tries to the ABs. So, if anything, I believe this score is actually flattering to the Argentines.

    Argentina´s current situation is really sad, but this is Argentina without Jaguares!! Get used to watching this disappointing presentations regularly. As I mentioned a few days ago in a video of TwoCentsRugby, Argentina needs to have a team in a top level competition!!! The current situation in which we have all our players playing in 10 different countries, with different systems, and that they only get to play a bit together for a few days before a tournament results in what we just saw in this game. It was ugly, it was brutal, it was sad. On top of that, add Ledesma and his total inability to plan anything else other than just defense. Argentina needs a team in Super Rugby - or similar - asap, or everything we have achieved in the last 10 years will go to dust.

    The All Blacks won this game convincingly but it's easy to underestimate the Pumas defence. That could have been an 80 pointer. And the Beauden Barrett back of the hand offload must be one of the most skilled executions I have seen in the last 20 years. It was astounding. Can't believe he plays second fiddle to Mounga (although Richie is also an exceptional player). They should be alternating Barrett and Mounga at 10/12 like the English do with Ford/Farrell.

    You’ve got to challenge the ABs to beat them. You can’t just defend, because you can’t keep that up for 80 without conceding. Kick your possession away to create field position and dominate territory and you’ll risk getting counter attacked. Chuck the ball around recklessly like Aus and you get isolated and picked off. I think the only way to win is through phase play and holding on to possession, grind your way up the pitch if you have to and then play some rugby in their half. Easier said than done - the ABs are looking monstrous at the minute.

The Saffer tactic of creeping up the pitch, winning a lineout and scoring off a rolling maul is like watching paint dry. • @chocomonstaar
      @chocomonstaar 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Argentina's players were playing the ball off their feet. If they're standing they can have a go at holding the All Blacks player/ball down making it difficult for him to release the ball. But once they are off their feet just lying there, they have to roll away - and certainly can't be grabbing at the ball. It was not the first time they'd done it either, hence the yellow card. The reason the ref didn't blow the whistle straight away was because he was letting the game run 'under advantage' to keep play going, but nothing came of it, so he blew the whistle and went back for the penalty and yellow card.

    • @chocomonstaar
      @chocomonstaar 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Although... now that I look at it again, I feel like they were pretty hard done by, as they were on their feet for quite a while before being cleaned out. Maybe it should have been a turn-over for Argentina rather than a yellow against them? Ah well. Hopefully someone else will clarify :)
