Taylor Swift fans try to survive record-breaking heatwave in Brazil.
Huge crowds of people were waiting all day in the sun to get into her concert. Firefighters sprayed fans down with water to try and help with the heat. Yesterday had record-breaking temperatures of 104° outside with the heat index of 140° inside the stadium.
I definitely agree with postponing the concert, but the decision should not have taken so long. Fans waited out in the hot sun all day. The show was finally canceled one hour before it was set to start.
The frustrating part is that the show was canceled at 6 PM. Right when the sun was going down and the temperatures were cooling off.
The horrible part is that over 60,000 heat exhausted, disappointed fans were displaced in the city without transportation. Uber was charging over R$200 per ride. Show transportation buses announced they would take three hours to reposition. Buses couldn't start taking people home until after 9 PM.
This left thousands of vulnerable people in the streets at night. Mass robberies with guns started happening around the stadium. Check my stories for news articles.
My husband came to pick us up and made it through the crowds to find us. We were lucky, but many weren't. I am so saddened this.
A 23 year old young woman died at Taylor Swift's concert here in Rio de Janeiro and thousands received medical treatment due to the record breaking heatwave sweeping the region. Outside water was not allowed in the stadium and people were waiting for hours in the sun. Outside temperatures were 104°F but inside the stadium, the heat index was around 140°F. Maycee and I were exhausted from standing for hours in the heat and drenched in sweat. However, we were OK because we had lots of water.
I was sad to see so many heartbroken Swifties but the heat was unbearable. Our condolences to the family of Ana Clara Benevides who lost their loved one this weekend due to extreme temperatures.
Tonight's show has been postponed to Monday, November 20.

As it was on a very short notice, it can be very frustrating, considering how expensive flight tickets and hotel rooms are, specially this time of the year. The whole event looks like it was poorly managed

@@jesser.2885 i don't know many events that aren't mismanaged these days, just had another shit festival here in Australia, Incubus came over, i missed Live playing first just trying to find the venue entrance, only to get in, find we were not crowding around the stage, but in a weird long corridor of people in front of the stage, so the layout was bad, and then i get to stand and watch a bunch of RADIO SINGLES being played because its a festival and all bands phone it in at those..
Poor girl. It’s inhumane to not allow the fans to bring water to the stadium with such a heat. RIP Ana. You didn’t deserve this. Shame on that organization!

I believe that the concert should have been postponed at the beginning of the day, as high temperatures were forecast, not only for the city of Rio, but for the whole state and region(including the temperatures expected inside the stadium, with such a large number of fans). This would have avoided or at least minimized all the difficulties reported in the video. We hope that event producers will be more sensitive to climate change in future events.

Subscriber here! I was about to leave the hostel in Méier when I heard about it... I think everybody knew 2 weeks before the concert about the high temperatures or at least I knew it and I wanted to get in the stadium after 5-6pm. So I spend a lot of money to stay longer and reschedule my bus way back home(SP) but I was very happy in the 20th. I was at the floor too, not vip, but sad that I was not able to see you guys there

moro no rio e ontem e hoje até que refrescou e está chovendo, mas as últimas semanas foram as mais quentes da minha vida até então (porque sei que daqui pra frente vão ser as mais frias, na verdade)
Acho que tem vários pontos a serem pensados. Vou comentar de forma geral, mas não é um comentário voltado para a família do canal, e sim como eu interpreto a situação como um todo, e o que estão falando por aí.
A T4fun (empresa responsável pela organização do show) é a maior errada em não pensar em toda logística. Por ser uma empresa nacional, deveria saber quais as necessidades de um show desse porte, em um clima extremo (mesmo que não habitual, ainda sim foi noticiado antes. Deveriam ter se preparado).
Concordo sobre o que falaram na internet, que é um absurdo não deixarem entrar com água no primeiro dia, só comprando no local. Foi errado. Mas, vi comentários de outras pessoas dizendo que essa prática infeliz também é comum em certos shows lá fora. Isso quer dizer que só por ter lá fora é o correto a se fazer aqui? Não. Até pq está um clima extremo no Rio. A empresa deveria ser mais preparada para saber sobre esses nuances.
Também vi que esse protocolo de barrar a entrada de água seria não só para lucrar com a venda no estádio, mas também para impedir que pessoas ficassem bêbadas (já que existem os espertinhos que colocam coisas que são diferentes de água na garrafa). De qualquer forma, não justifica o erro. A empresa pensou apenas nos números, e se colocar na ponta do lápis, provavelmente a empresa não vai ter uma receita positiva com a venda dos ingressos, se considerar que conseguir pagar uma artista desse porte em dólares para 6 dias de shows tendo cada um cerca de 50 mil pessoas, não gera lucro. (mesmo com ingressos super caros, estamos falando em reais, e um pagamento de milhões de dólares).
Volto a dizer, concordo que a maior responsável é a empresa, masss não acho que deva tirar totalmente a responsabilidade da cantora no sentido ético, e não jurídico. Pela lei, a cantora não tem culpa nenhuma. Ela não foi responsável pela morte da Ana, mas se tratando de ética, ela não foi respeitosa.
Primeiro que a equipe da artista está usando a estratégia de distanciamento:
-Mentiram nos jornais estrangeiros que a Ana morreu antes do show, quando na verdade morreu na segunda música que a Taylor cantou. A própria amiga da Ana que estava com ela disse em entrevista (no "Fantástico" de domingo) e todos os jornais nacionais divulgaram isso desde o primeiro dia.
-Taylor soltou um story lamentando a morte da fã, mas não citou o nome, e nem mais nada. Nem mesmo no show de domingo falou sobre. Fez uma "homenagem" através de uma música, mas sem falar nada.
-Os pais da Ana são de outro Estado, não tem condição de pagar para transportar o corpo da filha para casa, para fazer um enterro digno. Já faziam 3 dias do acontecido a t4fun não resolveu a questão, e muito menos a Taylor. Sim, Taylor não tem culpa, mas volto a dizer: artista bilionária, que construiu uma carreira com base na empatia, já ajudou fãs pelo mundo, pq não poderia se compadecer e ajudar os pais dessa menina? Não faria diferença para o bolso dela, e não afetaria a imagem dela, na verdade seria até vista como uma artista humilde que apesar de não ser a responsável pela morte, se compadece pela tristeza dos pais da Ana que estava lá justamente para ver o show dela. Não entra na minha cabeça uma cantora ultra rica, não buscar saber com sua equipe como está a situação e como pode ajudar. Preferiu ficar calada e ainda soltar um story dizendo que está abalada, como se o que importasse fosse o próprio sentimento, e não da família que perdeu sua ÚNICA filha. Não duvido que a Taylor realmente esteja abalada. Mas poxa, mostre isso em atos, não só em poucas palavras.
Não acho que a Taylor mereça ser boicotada, ou sofrer ódio da internet, ou coisas do tipo. Mas, acho justo todos separarem o que é certo e o que é errado. E ela e sua equipe não foram bem. E achar que ela não sabe de nada também é ingenuidade. Ela tem toda assistência, tem toda condição de saber sobre a situação toda e exigir saber. Ela bateu o pé sobre o spotify, sobre gerir a carreira como quer, é uma mulher adulta, disse em seu documentário que iria despertar para os assuntos e não ficar mais calada. Mas, age como se vivesse em uma bolha eterna. Diversos artistas internacionais já se viram em situações menores que essas e ajudaram seus fãs.
Isso tudo são só reflexões. Não acho que ela deva ser odiada, mas acho que cabe um bom senso. Ela também deveria ter avisado no máximo pela manhã que não faria o show de sábado. Deixou por última hora por causa dos "sentimentos" dela? E os fãs que gastaram uma fortuna de passagem de avião, hospedagem, transporte público e ainda ficaram no sol escaldante? Temos que pensar no público também. Poderia ser evitado, uma parte do público sabendo pela manhã que não haveria show, não iria gastar seu tempo e dinheiro indo até lá. Além de colocar em risco mais pessoas (que ficaram horas no sol).
Dizem que foi a t4fun que resolveu de última hora não ter show: DUVIDO. Empresa nacional nenhuma tem esse poder em uma artista internacional bilionária. Se tiver multa, ela paga de boas. Ela não se arriscaria a fazer algo forçada tendo anos de carreira e nome no mercado. Além disso, a empresa estando errada não tem poder jurídico para forçá-la, seria causa perdida. A empresa já é mal vista, e será investigada. O que estaria contra a Taylor?
De qualquer forma, acho que se a Taylor se mexer agora para ajudar os pais da menina, será em vão. Pq o tempo já passou, a menina foi enterrada hoje (depois de três dias seu corpo esperando ser levado) graças a ajuda dos fãs (sim, dos fãs), que arrecadaram dinheiro para família pagar os custos do transporte do corpo e enterro.
Bem, eu espero no fundo do meu coração que todos os shows agora sejam divertidos, tranquilos e que deem tudo certo! Meu comentário não tem objetivo de ofender ninguém, e nem atacar ninguém, nem a Taylor. É apenas necessário rever todos esses pontos e repensar em como seria melhor pra própria Taylor e sua equipe reverem o modo que agem. Realmente não entendo esse método silencioso de relações públicas... Isso só mancha a reputação e a imagem da artista perante o público.

She wasn’t drinking alcohol and she died during the show on the second music and it was. hotter in the stadium cuz the close the ventilations for no one see the show from outside…. And she didn’t contact the family of the victim or said anything during the following shows only a note on her stories …. The fans had to crowdfund to help the family transport the body back to Mina’s gerais …. A lot of deadly mistakes occurred even the floor was made of tin and a lot of people got skin burned by it
Yes, her reaction to it was unbelievable. Even I who likes her for a loooong time (over a 17 years) was super disappointed at her. I even wrote her a message but of course she didn’t read it. How could she have only have written a note for such a sad thing? She didn’t mention her name nor helped her family. It seems to me that she just want this case to go unnoticed to the rest of world, so it wouldn’t “ruin” her “reputation”. If she had the voice to postpone the next day concert, why didn’t she use her voice to cancel the one the day Ana passed, due to the extreme heat? I feel she doesn’t really care about her fans, and just continued the other concerts like nothing happened. I really never thought I would ever dislike her, but her response to it, or lack of it, really made me see the real Taylor. It was not her fault but she could have done something to prevent it for sure!

People should be shedding tears for what is worth crying! At this very moment innocents are dying in wars worldwide, and hundreds of thousands are also dying due to "natural" disasters every day! If anything, these young people should once and for all understand the seriousness of what climate change is causing to us all and the planet. I've been that age before and I never had an idol to the point of making me blind to what really matters in life. Taylor Swift is just a person, a human being like everybody else! Ok, she's talented bla bla bla and so what? She is not a goddess! Watching what's been happening in the world is what makes me heartbroken not the fact that a stupid gig was postponed! This generation is utterly lost and the future of the world is gloomy. If it was not for God's Grace we would be all dead by now.
