good number and safe (TQ) numbers for the stock GR6 transmission and the VR38DETT motor.... If you start considering making more (specifically torque over 650+), you'll want to look at upgrading the transmission and bottom end of the DETT for reliability. You could also upgrade the turbos to make more hp while keeping the torque number under 650. I've seen some GT-R s with Pure Turbos make 750+ hp and 640ish tq to the wheels. It would be something to consider if you want more hp, but don't want to spend 13k upgrading the transmission and another 12k on the bottom end (not including labor).

hey eric, i appreciate your comment, but I will probably upgrade the stock tranny first in the near future, but what should I upgrade in particular with this setup? Should I do a "staged" kit or just specific components or what you recommend to upgrade first after the FBO?

@@CarCulture2022 I would first determine what you ultimate power goals are, the primary use of the vehicle is going to be and what financial resources are going to be available for the upgrades. GT-R s are amazing and parts are amazingly expensive lol. So I would try do a transmission upgrade once to cover the your desired hp/tq goals rather then continuously upgrading as the power goes up. If you're not able to perform the upgrades yourself, the labor will also add quite a bit. That said, SHEP transmissions and Jack's transmissions both have upgrades that are capable of handling high tq. Any engine mods obviously AMS is a known leader in GT-R performance space, but also look at TR1 racing. I have their GT1R air oil separator on my GT-R and it looks great plus I love the fact that any oil that is caught in the separator is returned to the oil pan so you don't have to empty the can like some other designs. I drive my GT-R often so for me personally im good with the FBO setup and knowing I can cruise around and enjoy it without breaking it. Of course a mid 9 second street GT-R would be awesome to have too, but the price to build, down time and cost of labor (the gr6 transmissions is far to complicated for my level of mechanical ability) is primarily why I have decided to hold what I got. I have considered the pure turbo upgrade because I wouldn't have to upgrade any other parts, just have it re‐tuned and keep the tq below 650w...... if your planning on tracking it and constantly doing 4000 rpm launches the minimum upgrade would be the gear shaft and 1st gear, but again figure out you power goals and the use of the GT-R first. It will save you a lot of money and headaches. Can't tell you how much I have wasted by suddenly changing my mind half way through a build before. Once you have that figured out speak with SHEP or Jack's and they can help you decide what transmissions upgrades to go with based on you power and usage...

@@erickquinones1095thank you for the value information i think 800hp for the street is enough. I was considering doing transmission as stock is certainly not rated for these power levels. Car will be mostly street use but I plan on occasional launching car at track on cruise nights, maybe 3-5 launches / year.

@CarCulture2022 check out this video...I am not affiliated with them, however this guy does a good job explaining in simple terms the torque and hp scenario that are possible with the stock motor and trans th-cam.com/video/pOko3xsokAM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=QTRjWPWjJf7Y9k6-
