Part timer tip, make a master list for your rig. There are commercial lists available or you can make your own. Everything you pack in the rv goes on the list. I have a separate list of duplicate things and things that always stay in the rv. That way if they get removed or used up, it's noted.
We do the same. Our list also includes things that need to be done a few days before take off (e.g. hold the mail), 24 hours before and day of. It also includes things we have to do to prepare the house like turn down our water heater, set up the timers on the lights, etc. I’m constantly updating it but it’s worked well for years.
We save time packing by leaving our trailer loaded with things we need on every trip. The RV has its own set of lightweight cookware and basic tools, among other things.
We RV seasonally, upper Midwest. We take everything out during the winters. A shakedown is a good idea before the first big trip. Since we keep the camper loaded for 5 months, we duplicate slippers, bathrobes, jackets, and fast boil kettle. Whew, first load up is a lot!
I have watched your videos for years, but never read your first book. Tonight after Joe mentions the book (it’s worthy of being promoted), I decided to read the Sample of the first book in Kindle. Your writing style is very easy to read and draws a person in to your lives. I would recommend everyone read your book and I’m sure after reading the generous Sample, they will buy the book as I did. Looking forward to your videos from this new road trip, but in the meantime back to reading "Take Risks: One Couple’s Journey to Quit Their Jobs and Hit the Open Road (We're the Russos Book 1)"
👍👍 on the Fumoto valve. I have been using them for probably 30 years without any problems. They are great. Christine said she wasn’t surprised Joe wasn’t help Kait. She said he would have just gotten in the way. 😀😂😀😂. Leaving the van with Joe’s mom. Better keep an eye on the mileage. You never know when she may take it out on an adventure.

Was wondering yesterday when your next trip plan would start. We're all looking forward to the new adventures. In the second book, the pointer to your Dispersed Camping video was helpful and watching it helped bring back the desire to start planning camping trips again for this year.

I usually start a week out, packing a little each day, so I'm not overwhelmed on last day prior to departure. We got out first van last summer and are part-timers. We gradually have been doubling up on items we use in the house. It just takes so much time to pack everything and is easier to have as much dedicated van stuff as possible. We’re also trying to have a packing schedule through the week before so we can maximize weekend time. Good luck on your travels.

I think you did one a while back but I am guessing there are updates. Also which mattress are you trying out?

Thanks for another great video. Quick question, did you punch the wholes on the floor mat matching the locations where the L track bolts/screws used by the GSS? Thanks.
Loved the video! I was intrigued by your Fumoto valve suggestion and after some research, ordered the similar, but longer-threaded, ValvoMax valve for my Storyteller Sprinter. Also was jealous of your Inhabit mat setup for your GSS and wanted to steal your grommet solution for the mounting studs. Where did you find those large grommets? Thanks!
It really depends on where you're going and what kit you have available. If you're in mostly populated areas, then you at least have access to tire shops etc should something happen. When you go off-grid, then a spare if needed. For us, since we don't have a spare, we carry a very robust tire repair kit and an air compressor. A full size spare though is on the wishlist.
Yessss! So excited for this trip! Quick question: why did you get a different mattress if you got the Canyon Adventure GSS? We are picking up the GSS +1 and Lux Mattress later this month. Can't wait!!!
I have been following y'all for a while. And I have also watched many of y'all's older content, so I've seen you transition from the Class A, to the Hymer, the beater van, the truck camper and then to the Mode LT. How do y'all find those different RV's determine how many miles y'all would drive in a day? Is it easier or harder to drive the Class B's more miles per day than the bigger Class C? I know y'all have a schedule to hit, so y'all may end up driving more. Ideally, what do you recommend as a daily driving limit? How many miles per day will y'all drive max on this trip? For reference, I was helping my daughter reposition a car from West coast to East coast and 500 mile days were very tiring.
Hard to answer. We drive as far as we feel comfortable. We’ve done 900 mile days and we done 100 mile days. It really depends on many factors and what you’re comfortable doing.
Looking forward to this next adVANture. Sadly, you’re probably running right into all the freezing down south. The whole packing and unpacking thing is definitely the least liked part of any trip.
Good video 😀 why did you go part time. Are you tired of van life but your not the only rv's other channels are getting off the road also some for good I think fuel prices and food and maybe recession people are slowing down the rv manufacturers are slowing down van Leigh is closed doors prices are high interest rates also just saying safe travels 😁

Fuel stabilizers work well but we still drive the van. Since it's AWD, it's fantastic in the snow and great for taking friends places.
It was chilly but we missed the freeze
What is the make and model of this van?
but
but
wait ... what abut the trip?
OH MAN! 😢
Next couple videos…
Good video 😀 why did you go part time. Are you tired of van life but your not the only rv's other channels are getting off the road also some for good I think fuel prices and food and maybe recession people are slowing down the rv manufacturers are slowing down van Leigh is closed doors prices are high interest rates also just saying safe travels 😁

You know, it just wouldn’t be a proper “We’re the Russo’s” video if Joe didn’t make at least one cup of coffee ☕️ lol!
I realize that you guys are part timers now, but in my small brain, you have been, and always will be, Full Timers…my mental muscle memory won’t allow me to accept anything else about your current status 🤣🤪
Always my best to you two 👏🏼👍🏼🤙🏼🥂
Hilarious and very true - thanks Rob!
Curious at this point video what you forgot?
Birmingham! Represent!
Y'all need to grab lunch at Falafel Cafe. Get the gyro wraps with all the fixins and thank me later
