Scotland, as I am sure you will know, is the home of golf but, with two golf courses within a 10 minute drive of my house, I know nothing about golf and don't own any golf sticks. All that said, I plan to use the techniques you describe in your excellent tutorial to 'track' the movement of cars, people, aircraft and so on. I can see lots of different uses for these techniques. So, as ever, an excellent tutorial and the people of Scotland (golfers and otherwise) salute, appreciate and admire you. Thank you for all your hard work. And, as we say in Scotland: 'Tis fin tae dae th' impossible and that you certainly do weekly.

Just discoverd your channel, your explanation are so clear, I'm learning a lot !!! Very beginner here with motion so long read ahead to learn. I have a question. How to I create the shot tracer (first method) on a moving footage ? What I want is after a golf shot, I would like to show a drone footage with a shot tracer leaving from the place I hit the ball to the place the ball end ! So drone is moving and I fail to understand how I can trace this shot tracer !!!!
Just finished the video I’m disappointed there isn’t an automatic way to do this! I feel like it must be so easy and fast in After Effects since @goodgood uses shot tracers non stop but I don’t actually know how they do it
So technically you could use a tracker for this. But golf balls are just too small and fast for the trackers to hold at all. I do know there is software made specifically for golf that can add tracers as well, and those have specifically designed algorithms around tracking the ball. Might be worth looking into!
Hey man great vid! I tried the particle emitter method but it wasn’t quite working since I can’t see the ball land. I’d sort of need to mix the two methods together. I was wondering if you could do a tutorial where you use multiple bezier points to make the arc and then use key frames to animate the tracer movement?

With golf balls being so tiny and fast, the tracker just doesn’t work at all. That said, if you had a larger and slower object the tracker would 100% work with that second method!
Hey man, I’ve recent come across your channel and it’s very helpful. I’m just wondering though if you would know a way to create a dynamic light border around a Picture in Picture? Both MrWhoseTheBoss and Ali Abdaal achieve this sort of effect. Alternatively, where would you recommend to go in order to learn motion from scratch so I can build the knowledge to figure this out for myself?
Hey! I'm having issues with moving the emitter places, it seems like it's making every frame a key frame and there's no no points happening. Is there a setting I'm missing that can help this?
Nala! She’s a rescue, and has a large scar across her paw. We started thinking about the name Scar, but that felt too much like a boy name. And then we noticed the way she plays with our other doggo is very much like Nala in the Lion King. She pins him and flips him over haha! So we decided Nala was a perfect name for her.

All the videos are only teach how to make the effect with no rotation. Would you like to be the first one to make a video about it? I'll share the method. It's the same but with a few unobvious extra steps.

It's unfortunately still not good enough to track a golfball! They are just way too fast and small for the tracker to pick it up. Hopefully someday!

Unfortunately not with the base tools. It might be possible with a plugin, but I don't know which plugin that would be.
