These were the times that Hollywood produced real movies with real big stars…. Nothing to compare to the rubbish of nowadays!❤🇮🇹🇺🇸🇬🇧 Wonderful Joan Crawford!❤
Thanks for that - these sorts of comments do help enormously!! From England - we have a lot of great B & W Dramas and am of an age to have seen the best so it helps.
As a 44yr old Aussie have to admit that at almost 50 yrs of age, joanie babe still had it, although maybe not playing a much younger woman in her early 20s however?! ...but she was something else when she first started off in Hollywood way back in the 20s😍
I don’t know how much truth has been said in Joan Crawford’ life but she’s was very good actress. For many years I didn’t want to watch her movies. It wasn’t due to the story or the movie. It was due to Joan’s portrayal in acting the part so well that she was almost frightening to me. She was an amazing actress.
Strother Martin made his film debut as one of the divers. He went on to win our hearts as a phenomenal character actor. So much a part of my childhood entertainment. They used Frank Sinatra's Palm Springs home as Nick's house. Thank you, IMDb trivia.
This movie is my favorite favorite noir movie they never really show this movie all the time like they do the others especially on TCM and on Amazon u have to rent it r buy I been wanting to see this for the longest and found it on TH-cam thank u so much
found deceased in 1966 on a yacht he was enjoying his time with, along with a group of underaged mexic gals, if i recall correctly. question is, did they 'off' him or their pimp when it came to payment time?
Nahhhh she smokes too much and puts waaaayyy too many "ideas" in the heads of the lady population on how to treat us men... No no no. Candidacy definetely rejected by the male half of the world. I vote for Gloria Grahame or Veronica Lake (in Gun for hire for example)
Wonderful Joan Crawford…❤ These were the times when Hollywood produced real movies and big stars ✨ Nowadays it’s only rubbish….plus dirty political endorsements! ❤🇮🇹🇺🇸🇬🇧
One aspect of this movie I love is the transformation of Joan from a drab frump of a housewife early in the film to a sleek, sophisticated society dame later on. Her profile at 1:14.35 and face at 1:15.22 are, to me, the very definition of the word "glamour". I've seen most of Crawford's films, and these are my favorite images of her face. What an incredible look she had!
Typical Warner Brothers Crawford vehicle. She looked stunning with her high cheekbones & long hair in the beginning & then the "lady" change made her look mannish & matronly. I was paying more attention to Steve Cochran (Nick), who was a naughty real-life bad boy.
Ordinarily I don't watch Joan Crawford movies because the scripts she was always given were awful. She always had to resort to some "bad acting" habits in a vain attempt to save the terrible scripts she had to work with. The script for this film however, was substantially better and had more emotional substance for her to work with. Unfortunately, she still allowed some "bad acting" habits to surface, yet the film was quite watchable.
Crawford was a good actress. But great beauty never was she any. In 1950, she was 44, and it shows. The hair. The worn face. Her looks spoil the otherwise entertaining show. Why the heck didn' they hire an actress both younger and prettier? 🤔
You don't see this movie on TH-cam often. One of Joan Crawford's best Thanks for posting it
Watching here in Pennsylvania USA 🇺🇸 This November 14th 2024 eating popcorn 🍿. I have seen every Crawford movie made ❤ this movie is a gem 💎

Wonderful Joan Crawford!❤
Same here except for the popcorn.🍻
Thanks! I love the black and whites and Joan Crawford too. ♥️♥️♥️
I'm 3/4 into the movie and stunned they don't make movies like it today. Progress in Hollywood isn't always better.
I got this on DVD and saw it last week on TCM. I love her work with David Brian.
My favourite actress, Joan Crawford ! Great Movie 👍
What an actress Joan Crawford i s ! I never miss her movies
Excellent A-List drama. Very Fine 1950s production values. Fabulous actors doing professional personas.

Thank you for a favorite noir of mine -- but don't expect it to be around long.

I like the way, the ease, the abandon with which Mrs Forbes leaves her character behind, to engage with a criminal group. Fascinating plot. 🎉

If Joan's in it... I'm watching!
Same here!👍🏾
The house with the pool in Las Vegas is Frank Sinatra's home Twin Palms
JC was a Superb Actress. Her legacy goes on &on & on..😅
Steve Cochran ❤

Great movie!!!
As I have to say , GOOD film .
It did come on TCM last week but I don’t know why they don’t show it all the time like the other noirs movies
CLASSIC. There’s also a TV movie based on this true story of the bugsy siegel & virginia hill case called Virginia Hill 1974

35::49 Whenever I see those modest millionaires homes ahhh I feel so nostalgic about those years before I was a billionaire ahhhh....

Hello 👋 😃

Trump for world peace❤
Kent Smith "Underrated Actor"
You couldn't possibly know that.He had a long career.
"Underrated" Means "Unappreciated" He was a fine Actor !
Love Jackie de Wit!! ❤
Tied for first with the greatest movies I have ever seen. Human nature exposed in its most raw vicious, vulnerable, nakedness.
Typical Warner Brothers Crawford vehicle. She looked stunning with her high cheekbones & long hair in the beginning & then the "lady" change made her look mannish & matronly. I was paying more attention to Steve Cochran (Nick), who was a naughty real-life bad boy.
She looked even better without the makeup at bike shop with boy
He keeps calling her, Ethel!
❤
Video stopped cold by commercials. Lame.
Their diction back then was much better
What's that annoying screen background, and why they just don't leave it plain black... This is a movie, not a tiktok video
29 mins Whats the name of the actor leaning over Kent Smith?
Hugh Sanders (1911--1966)
What happened to her first husband?

Vincent Sherman, good Director, had a 3 year affair with Crawford
Those side columns sure are distracting.

She looked a lot better with the longer hairdo she started out with in the movie
@@davidpar2 You may be right. 👍
She was 46 years old in this movie, she was born in 1904.
@@shirleyallen9108 Her IMDb bio gives her birthyear as 1906. But yes, she looks older than 44. Perhaps even older than 46.
I think she’s beautiful . At least in those days it was not all Botox and trout lips . Even as she aged she was stunning looking .
