Its Years after you made this video, and i just had to send you a big THANK YOU! Just did this on my sisters 2001 Buick. The buckle would not even go into the receiving end at all. I was able to see the mechanism stuck. After liberally applying silicone and jamming an eye glass flat head screw driver in there i had great success!! Thanks buddy

Saving 250 thou- stopped himself. Haha! Good joke. I appreciate the very quick video. It had no long intro with intentions on future colleges to give him a degree on seat buckling systems. The guy just showed his method, and, with enthusiasm. Shortest car maintenance video I've ever seen.

I have to admit I was still skeptical that WD40 would solve my problem but it worked lol. Sometimes the buckle wouldn’t work so I’d have to use the passenger side buckle which cuts my neck lol. Don’t know why I waited 1.5 years to TH-cam this issue. I sprayed for 5 sec and it worked. Thank you so much!!!

I owe you one for this! I had been wondering f either WD-40 or Silicone spray were acceptable or a terrible idea. I skipped the solvent spray and gave it a good shot with silicone using the straw from the 40 and a rag.
And I was so sure a dime coin was lodged in it, nope it just looks that way; the sideways-pushing mechanism gets seized from years of random car gunk. It has to be able to slide or you it won't let you press the clasp all the way into the mechanism, that was the thing stumping me. And because it has a positive engagement the silicone doesn't cause it to slip out, it's only lubricating the sprung internal slider which means the thing either totally works or it doesn't.

I will give it a try. Beats taking the seat out and trying to find a part. Mechanics all want me to buy a whole seat assembly for a 20 year old car. I used a six inch padlock to connect the latch and buckle and it was rated for 6000 lbs. It works better than factory standard, but the inspector was a turd muncher about my creativity..It appears factory standard or bust for the yearly stae inspection. Thanks for the inspiration. Twenty year old cars are hard to find parts for!

I used wd40 on my seatbelt buckle on my acura mdx, now the airbag light is on a few days after i sprayed it. Any ideas? Did i short something in the buckle using the spray?

My seat belt receiver is stuck down. Will this fix the problem and help it pop out again? I don't know if make or model count but it's a '93 Ford Laser GL. Old, I know. But I love my little bomb. :)

Hey, Fish. Thanks for ALL the great vid's on your '02 CRV! I've been looking for a fix for a sticky/stuck shifter on my '02 crv automatic. What's strange is that the shifter works smoothly during the warm months, but as soon as it gets cold, I can't shift it and have to use a key in the manual release button hole to be able to shift. Any ideas?? Thanks!!

If this doesn't solve my issue, should I just replace it? Can it be fixed without replacing it? Do you have any other tricks that go beyond this spray?
