Relax it'll get here quicker than u know it. (Give Nintendo time for people to digest this announcement its been like 8 years since first Switch)
Yeah Switch 1 I think was first shown in October 2016, Direct in January 2017, and released about six weeks later. Wouldn't be shocked if it's a similar time overall given when the Direct in April will be, so maybe like mid-May release.
Nintendo had to deal with a bunch of people breaking their TV all the way back in the Wii launch, so I'm sure they're never taking that chance again with any sort of one-handed motion control device that you'll be flinging around
@CanadianChick811 Yep! The big offender was Wii Sports bowling. People would let go of the whole controller, instead of just the B button/trigger when letting the ball go in-game, and since they were already aiming at the TV, the Wiimote flew right into it
I don't think it's fair to call it "underwhelming" when it's not Nintendo's fault that leakers spoiled the surprise reveal. Imagine our reactions if we had gone into the reveal blind and all of the information was brand new.
But it IS Nintendo's fault. They sat on it too long and the people working under them will get bored or clout chase the longer it's just being made while not announced. There seems to be a major misstep with their management and marketing team.
It looks garbage, low res textures, simplistic lighting, terrible color choices, empty environments, it looks worse than Mario Kart 8, you're just a Nintentard that will swallow every crap Nintendo does.
One theory I have is in regards to the rumored mouse functionality, what if Mario Kart 9 has a track creator and they use it to showcase the ease of use with the mouse?
@@bejisan1 that would be awesome, I'm really going to need something to convince me to buy a new Mario Kart and that might be enough - I'm older and have a nearly 1 year old, just don't have time for local multiplayer or really anyone to play with at this point in my life. A single player mode with boss fights etc. like Diddy Kong Racing would be a welcomed addition as well.
Been waiting for the reaction from you guys. I think this was a great reveal trailer. It definitely did what it needed to with differentiating the system from the first Switch and making it clear this is a new console. I'm a bit disappointed we have to wait until April for the Direct, but I'm glad it's finally announced. The mouse functionality hinted at here is awesome and the big leak that I really wanted to be true. Mario Kart looks good. Basically confirms it's a launch title. Definitely not MK8 or anything. Donkey Kong's model looks like from the Mario movie.
I don't see many people talk about that animation over the texture flaking off the console itself, I'm curious to see if that means we're moving from a plastic chassis to maybe an aluminum one?
It feels like when you peaked and poked around for your gifts before Christmas: you are still excited to be able to open them, but the thrill of opening them is gone.
I have seen all of the leaks and tbh I’m still so excited. I love Nintendo. Even couple years ago I said I wanted another console by Nintendo to be a switch but just better power. And well I got it!!!!! I’m excited!!!
I loved the presentation they went for. Seeing the switch transforming like an anime character into the switch 2 was not what I expected, but it was so sexy ngl Definetly excited for more info related to it!!
I absolutely *loved* this Trailer. It was just so clean, silent but symbolic and full of that wonderful Nintendo humour. Loving the new 'Mouse- cons!'! 🥳
Without information on the Switch 2 specs and features, nothing will have changed in the news sphere. Everyone is going to have the exact same discussions and basically the same thumbnails since the renders leaked weeks ago lol.
I think they probably didn’t want to show it off until april, but after all the leaks and rumors, they just decided to show the bare minimum until they were ready to show more.
The original Switch trailer had the task of explaining the concept of its hybrid model to all kinds of consumers. As a direct successor, this trailer evidently doesn't need to explain that all over again. They should have shown more because the leaks really spoiled this first look, but they seem to be completely ignoring them as their strategy onwards.
All I can say is the system looks beautiful and sleek. I like that they went with the colored accents as opposed to the full color joycons. Of course, third-party colors and special editions will be fun, but the default is right where it should be. Missed opportunity to backlight those colored accents though!
Nah, gotta keep the cost of the console low and I am absolutely sure Nintendo would rather have useful technology taking up the space inside rather than useless ones.
I think the leaks had the opposite effect on me. The leaks gave me time to come to terms with the lack of innovation. If I had gone into this trailer blind, it might have disappointed me. However, since I had already processed all that, I was left pretty happy that mouse functionality is real. Positive overall.
Same here. I think the Switch 2 will make the fanboys and those who demanded a more powerful Switch for the last 7 years happy. But I think the lack of innovation will make this unappealing to the general population that is perfectly happy with their current Switch. They won’t care about the mouse control. But I could be wrong.
I think what you guys may have missed is that top USB.. it can be used for peripherals while in table top mode, which was missing in the Switch 1. This would be huge for MMOs that need keyboard input.
This teaser had a lot of the vibe of announcement videos on stage at E3 when it was still a thing. I think the closest comparison was the demo video for the Wii U.
I like how y'all admit that the "fly by" approach is joked on internally at Nintendo, and I'm reminded how some of the PS5 reveal also featured closeup "fly by" animations showing off the texture of the face plates etc
Honestly, I was very relieved for the reveal! I hadn’t been paying attention to the leaks so when it was revealed as “the switch you know but with some twists” I was so happy! No crazy Wii U stuff here. Holding off on further comments until I can see what it does and what games are coming out!
While I’m still excited for it this reveal was awesome. I sent it to multiple people who don’t follow leaks like I did and all I’ve heard back was so it’s bigger?
I'm betting money with my friends, that will have a "Super Nintendo" Switch 2 version that replicates all the colors and buttons, and all that. It would be more weird if they didn't do it
Top USB port allows for charging while in table top mode. Also makes it so that if you're doing handheld gaming you can have it plugged in without the cable and it can be rested against your body without having the USB port getting pressure from the cable pressed against your body. Also assuming both ports can do video out it means if somebody is silly enough to break their lower USB port it might allow you to do TV out from the top at the very least a broken USB port doesn't bork the system completely.
Adding a topside USB-C port was very high on my wish list for a Switch 2. (On the opposite end a Steam Deck 2 adding a bottom side port is very high there.)
Yep. People are crazy thinking that the DS and 3DS games will be playable as if you're doing it Wii U style. The point of the DS and 3DS games was the mobility factor...there's a high probability that a screen accessory attachment will be sold to keep the DS/3DS library fully mobile.
@bk6555 I don't know why you couldn't just make a USBC to HDMI cable and get an effect similar to Wii-U that way. Or go wireless to your dock. 🤷 But at least a screen accessory would be cool.
Given how little was shown and how far away the Direct that goes into detail about it is, I really feel like Nintendo threw this together in response to the leaks and they weren’t originally planning to announce it just yet.
hi kit and krysta, mario kart is 24 players, the starting positions have 24 slots at the starting line. donkey kong's model is based on the mario movie if you look at closely. :)
@@bk6555 if you mean DK looks like Jr, he's missing the t-shirt, but look of the rest of the characters is because they're actually using anti aliasing technology and not letting jagged polygons show through like it's still the n64 era.
WHAT IF!!! What if the top port allows for attachment of a usbc mouse receiver?! Mouse compatibility would be so dope, would give another way to play the games that will support the joycon as a mouse but while docked. Would be so dope!!
7:06 - I'm so glad you mentioned this, because that's the first thing I thought of when I saw that date! It practically guarantees more things will be spoiled before then, and now people know how accurate the previous leaks were (so they won't dismiss them anymore).
They lingered on the USB port on the top because having one on yhe top was a request from fans so they could charge ut while playing in table top mode.
I'm a tad surprised no one took this from the particles coming off the system in the beginning after it enlarged, but thats saying the shiney finish on the switch has come off to be a matte finish! No more shiney top and bottom finish the OLED has! Least that's my observation!
Um, the original was more of an eggshell, slightly shiny finish, and the OLED model is totally matte black. Even the Mario red original version is matte red. I have all three of those.
Good call. I think Nintendo is playing this console both ways nicely though. They want it to feel like half a new generation and half just another option for Switch if you feel like it. It’s less risky in that sense as they can just focus on their overall switch sales numbers across all devices. Probably how PlayStation looks at it these days. The new console is for the diehards but the old one is still great.
Why would they change the color? red is the nintendo brand and the switch brand. the switch 2 is still switch. it would look like its meant to not be part of a switch at all if they change their color.
Definitely disappointed in the wait until April for more information. I love your analysis of the video. Great catch on the number of drivers in Mario Kart. Looking forward to following you guys on this journey of Discovery for the next Nintendo console. It definitely helps with the anticipation.
Everyone is saying the top USB-C port is for charging, while tbat may be true, I personally thing its more than just that! It may also end up being a plug for accessories, like a camera or what not, and maybe even work like a built in dock, for those times of travel. We shall see in April!
The port on top is a big deal because now you can play in handheld/tabletop mode while charging. Before you would have the charging cord pressing into your stomach via the bottom port, and you couldn't really charge at all in tabletop mode.
Feel similar to you guys, but don't feel like the leaks took away from it for me. On the positive side love the dual USB-C like some gaming phones do. Larger Joycons/buttons nice. I still reeaally hope they do haptic analog triggers like the DualSense 5. Little underwhelmed by the Mario Kart trailer they showed but still excited to see, track they picked looks cool but I want to see something really exciting more wacky like a MKWii track

6:57 People thinking 2-3 months away being a long time 😂 February is a short month yall. This month is almost over. And it's at the beginning of April which is like March 33rd. Relax it'll get here quicker than u know it. (Give Nintendo time for people to digest this announcement its been like 8 years since first Switch)
Yeah Switch 1 I think was first shown in October 2016, Direct in January 2017, and released about six weeks later. Wouldn't be shocked if it's a similar time overall given when the Direct in April will be, so maybe like mid-May release.
it's a very long time when i'm gonna be thinking of this literally every single day and slowly descending into madness
I think the C button is for "Cursor."
You might be onto something here
This trailer already feels like the pre promotion to the Direct in April tbh lol
That’s literally what it is lol
@ you right
Was the wrist strap really legally mandated?
MOUSE CONFIRMED! Gimmie Mario Paint!
Nintendo had to deal with a bunch of people breaking their TV all the way back in the Wii launch, so I'm sure they're never taking that chance again with any sort of one-handed motion control device that you'll be flinging around
Its a half joke but u gotta have that
@@kaloncpu57 People what, threw the Wiimote at the TV?
@CanadianChick811 Yep! The big offender was Wii Sports bowling. People would let go of the whole controller, instead of just the B button/trigger when letting the ball go in-game, and since they were already aiming at the TV, the Wiimote flew right into it
@ OMG that's hilarious (kinda).
oh no Kit looks like Inside Out dad- now I can't unsee it
hot
I don't think it's fair to call it "underwhelming" when it's not Nintendo's fault that leakers spoiled the surprise reveal. Imagine our reactions if we had gone into the reveal blind and all of the information was brand new.
But it IS Nintendo's fault. They sat on it too long and the people working under them will get bored or clout chase the longer it's just being made while not announced. There seems to be a major misstep with their management and marketing team.
But Nintendo made the reveal trailer. They chose not to tease new exclusive games, they chose not to explain new features.
@ This was the hardware reveal trailer that we knew was going to be hardware only thanks to the leaks. They gave us a Direct date for games.
@@Jme_hde It literally shows a new Mario Kart in the trailer.
Its so underwhelming we it told us literally nothing, not even a release date
The new button being left blank reminds me of the pre-production Switches without the logo in the back used in the 2016 reveal
I love how the trailer is exactly 2:22 (nod to Switch 2 maybe, lol)
This new Mario Kart art style looks like a combination of 8 and 64 which I will be super happy if that’s true! I love the classic 90’s Mario look
It looks garbage, low res textures, simplistic lighting, terrible color choices, empty environments, it looks worse than Mario Kart 8, you're just a Nintentard that will swallow every crap Nintendo does.
@@JordanPerry-l7f I did. I took their 3DS away for misbehaving.
DK looks like OG DK
Do you guys think that Nintendo revealed the Switch 2 now is because they wanted to let third party devs announce their Switch 2 games?
An official reveal definitely kicks off a lot of other things. Third parties showing/confirming Switch 2 games will for sure be part of it
One theory I have is in regards to the rumored mouse functionality, what if Mario Kart 9 has a track creator and they use it to showcase the ease of use with the mouse?
What if MK9 receives the Smash Bros treatment... Metroid, Starfox, and even other IPs, FF7, KH, MGS...
@ 0:02 - Krysta: "WAKE UP!"
Me: "...grababrushandputalittlemakeup..."
I say a little prayer for you
Been waiting for the reaction from you guys.
I don't see many people talk about that animation over the texture flaking off the console itself, I'm curious to see if that means we're moving from a plastic chassis to maybe an aluminum one?
kudos to Krysta who predicted a more Apple stylish brandification
The character models almost look like 3D versions of the original artwork. Peach doesn’t have that racer uniform anymore, either
Doesn't she wear that only on a bike? Or was she on a bike in the trailer?
It also reminded me of the original Super Mario Kart, but in 3D. Similar style to Mario Bros. Wonder.
It feels like when you peaked and poked around for your gifts before Christmas: you are still excited to be able to open them, but the thrill of opening them is gone.
…dude the first notification i saw waking up was the notification from nintendo and i screamed 😂
It was at 5am our time so we sadly were not awake as it happened!
@@kitandkrysta yea, for me i had woke up about an hour before it was released and then completely forgot about it and fell back asleep 😂
I showed my sister the video and her first question was “so whats different?”
"Yes, Nintendo, it is you"
I love you guys' sass so much lol
I have seen all of the leaks and tbh I’m still so excited. I love Nintendo. Even couple years ago I said I wanted another console by Nintendo to be a switch but just better power. And well I got it!!!!! I’m excited!!!
Also, someone teach them the pause or slow down playback speed functions, haha
I loved the presentation they went for. Seeing the switch transforming like an anime character into the switch 2 was not what I expected, but it was so sexy ngl
Definetly excited for more info related to it!!
Sexy? 🤨
As soon as it dropped, Kit and Krysta's takes were all I cared about!
Wow! We're honored
And was the most disappointing reactions
Charging port on top is great for tabletop
Is it April 2nd? Or February 4th? This is why I hate how we do things in the US lol
April it was written somewhere in writing too
It’s April 2nd
This isn't Europe. It's April.
Even in Europe, in the french translated reveal, they inversed the numbers to say April, 2nd.
Lmao Ps5 😂😂
Honestly, I was very relieved for the reveal! I hadn’t been paying attention to the leaks so when it was revealed as “the switch you know but with some twists” I was so happy! No crazy Wii U stuff here. Holding off on further comments until I can see what it does and what games are coming out!
There is a wonder flower under toads restaurant
Good eye!
Oh DAMN! I can't even imagine how much potential this has as an it!
The last black Nintendo console was the Nintendo 64. Let's hope this one does better 😂
They re showing that upper part because now you can charge it while using the standing
I dunno, I think if you look at that distance shot in Mario Kart, you can appreciate the higher resolution.
Kit, the wrist strap thing is still there. You see it snap on and off when they are done sliding around.
It was kinda funny watching him harp on about the cord being a wrist strap and not getting that lol.
Imma try to buy one day one! Excited!
Mario Paint 2 is a real possibility now
Sim City too.
Missed opportunity to call the video former Nintendo employees reacting to the switch 2 first look
While I’m still excited for it this reveal was awesome. I sent it to multiple people who don’t follow leaks like I did and all I’ve heard back was so it’s bigger?
Absolutely loved it. No stupid people laughing and playing on a submarine, just the system evolution with smooth music playing.
I'm betting money with my friends, that will have a "Super Nintendo" Switch 2 version that replicates all the colors and buttons, and all that. It would be more weird if they didn't do it
it's honestly refreshing for me to see other people who are also underwhelmed
doesn't mean i'm not happy for those excited tho ofc
Top USB port allows for charging while in table top mode. Also makes it so that if you're doing handheld gaming you can have it plugged in without the cable and it can be rested against your body without having the USB port getting pressure from the cable pressed against your body. Also assuming both ports can do video out it means if somebody is silly enough to break their lower USB port it might allow you to do TV out from the top at the very least a broken USB port doesn't bork the system completely.
Yeah, they must have never played their Switch in handheld enough, haha
Adding a topside USB-C port was very high on my wish list for a Switch 2. (On the opposite end a Steam Deck 2 adding a bottom side port is very high there.)
Could also be used for accessories, if they ever want to do another camera thing again for example.
They clipped into a separate plastic piece during the mouse mode!
Can't wait for the hands-on video in Kazakhstan
"yep still goes driftin' away" 😂😂😂
Wondering how hard it will be to get this Console. I hope they don’t do a winter 2025 release.
It'll likely be a Summer Release
The texture work in the road in ML looks very detailed
I'm really hoping the extra USBC port is for more than just charging. Imagine attaching another screen to this thing. 😩
But at least a screen accessory would be cool.
It might not do AV out, but I bet it does more than charging.
DK also looks like his earlier versions from the earlier MK game. The other characters kinda have that look too
@@bk6555 if you mean DK looks like Jr, he's missing the t-shirt, but look of the rest of the characters is because they're actually using anti aliasing technology and not letting jagged polygons show through like it's still the n64 era.
"It's a WRIST STRAP, Krysta!" 😂
so excited to see your guys’ coverage of this thing!!!
Donkey Kong looks like a grown up DK jr.
I am surprised they kept the red background for the marketing.
Eh... Mario's clothing is mostly red, and blue is already taken by PlayStation, so I'd be surprised if they did _stop_ using red.
I'm afraid I didn't see the memory card slot......hoping it still have it.
Reaction starts at 1:50
Looking like they are bringing back DK Jr. from the first SNES Mario Kart. Pretty fun.
0:31 🎶.... in forever 🎶
Hahahahaha
The port on top is a big deal because now you can play in handheld/tabletop mode while charging. Before you would have the charging cord pressing into your stomach via the bottom port, and you couldn't really charge at all in tabletop mode.
1:22 if only a leaker like NateTheHate wasn't there..
