Great confidence to perform a Queen song at 22 years old in a competition for professionals. And as only foreign performer, youngest ever, little English or Mandarin. Truly incredible. All the contestants support each other. Heartwarming. Egos left to the side. Friendships formed. Tremendous show.
    Great reaction! 😊
I’ve watched this before but still feel the suspense.

I love Dimash's version of this song, and it deserves great respect to choose such a song. Freddie sang it at the end of his unfortunately much too short life, and it left a lasting emotional impression on me and many Queen fans.
Dimash has made his own version of it and I think he has conveyed the essence of the song very well musically. He is still very young here. It doesn't matter to me at all that his English isn't particularly good here. It's not my mother tongue, either. What's more, if you know the original song, you definitely don't need lyrics to understand what it's about. You can feel it with every note. For me, it's a very worthy cover version and I think Freddie would have been very proud of him.
Dimash's vocal range has changed, and his skills have improved. If you listen to more recent stuff, you'll realize that. Although it's hard to believe, because it's already so absolutely blatantly good here.
I like the show (Singer) because of its professionalism, and it's really nice how respectfully people treat each other here. It's about musical ability and not, as is often the case in western shows, about putting people on show.
It certainly demanded a lot from him at the time, the level of the competition is very high, he is in a foreign country without knowing the language and without his family for a long time. But he also took a lot from it, grew from the challenge, and made friends for life. The Chinese have definitely recognized his huge potential and given him a good start to an international career. In his home country, despite his many awards and outstanding abilities, he obviously didn't always have it easy at the beginning and was heavily criticized by a Kazakh jury for his singing style. Which is of course completely absurd from today's perspective.
Dimash has returned to the show this year as a guest singer with 2 performances and these performances are also absolutely great.

As you continue reacting to Dimash, you will soon notice that dropping to his knees is one of his performance move. Some "Dears" once sent him kneepads as a present.

He was presented with knee pads by the competitors on Singer 2017 because they were concerned about him hurting his knees.

It is not just that Dimash is humble.🙄
It appears that way to those from a competive culture but Dimash comes from a "We" culture not an ""I" culture so the only person he competes with is himself. His culture is about supporting each other not stepping on others to get to the top.
Dimash competes constantly with his yesterday self so that his tomorrow self will be better.
I hate these "I" competitions as I see them as demeaning and they acheive little of consequence.
Canada used to be a "We" culture too before the corruption from the outside crushed that.☹️
I cannot imagine how difficult this must have been for young Dimash going through The Singer competition for 14 weeks from a spiritual sense.
And of course, we all know how things went when Dimash went through the Americain "I" competition where nobody even pretends to care about fellow competitors.
I am so proud of Dimash for standing up to them with his Honour and throwing their million dollar prize down.🤩🤩🤩
    🥰🥰Much love from a Canadian Dear🇨🇦

Topnotch Dimash forever. His thrilling resnance when singing is incomparable.Nobody does it like him.Never mind his English or the so-called Dinglish. He was required to sing this song when he hardly knew English with just a short time to practice.Hope Freddie Mercury is happy with this.
    Bravo..!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks a ton for your great reaction.🎉🎉🎉

Dimash speaks two languages fluently: his mother tongue Kazakh, and Russian. Nowadays, he understands English and speaks it fairly well (albeit with a charming accent and with grammar mistakes - Dears affectionately call it ‘Dinglish’); however, he’s not able to freely express himself yet, I feel. Apparently, he sings correctly in Mandarin, but says he finds it very difficult - I think he still mainly communicates with his Chinese team in English.

You said the same thing Brian May said, Freddie would have been proud of Dimash's rendition. If you notice, just before beginning any song, Dimash uses a minute to prepare himself mentally and emotionally for the song he is about to sing. This was Dimash's first attempt to sing a song in English, with only one week to learn the song. Dimash won the first two rounds and should have won this one as well. When he was invited to compete in this show, the executives did not think he would make it past the second round. After winning the first two, I guess they had to save face. He was the youngest singer in the show's history and the only non-professional. The others were 12-39 years his senior, with solid careers. Dimash is his toughest critic. His arranger said that he reviews all of his concerts to see where he could have done better. To this day, he still does vocal training for 3-4 hours every day... more if there is an upcoming concert. Of course, I would love to suggest my favorites; but I think you are doing the right thing by starting at the beginning. This way you can see how he continued to improve with each song.

I love that you watch the whole voting. Many people don't know how he came to sing in China or how he was in a competition and came in second! They don't know that the rules were that you had to be Chinese, the rules were changed and the following year Jesse J won. Thank you. The next year had some great singers on that you might check out. Hua Hua Chenyu, and Zhou Shen. Both are now very famous in China,😊😊

Face it Dimash won this copetition. Because he was Asian not Chinese he didn’t take the title. Because he is the “best” vocalist alive or dead even at age 22 here. Dimash has been in many situations and venue since a toddler and in c9mprtitiins since the age of five winning even then. You put him against any competitor and he always shines. At the singer he had to compete to win. He is competitive we see here in this contest. But as in this song I got tired of him having to show his best vocal skills in this way. I like when he got out of the competitions and went professional. Then he takes his skills writing and arranging pieces alone or collabing with artist and producers (and Igor). Then I feel he shines outside of this arena. He had to win with the show must go on. And, here in 2017 he was 22 with no English or Chinese language skills but when performing pronouncing the word’s phonetically. So with all this he gets better in years to come finessing his craft. Now in 2025 from 2017 When he started taking English and Chinese speaking lessons he’s an 8th grader in the language speaker 4 languages and yet singing in 16. This is just one “inth” of the many things that make Dimash the “best” vocalist. Dimash because of his love of culture honors the countries he tours to sing in that he learns a new song in the language if that country he’s in thereby adding another language to his repitoire. After the singer and the world best again where you see him competing you see his skills at production in the performance arts competing with himself and not others… nothing to prove. This is not a critic but an observance as any singer/competitor has to bring out the guns, their best work. Years later the digital concert show 2021 when he hires 400 people to put that show on we see “his” best work up to that point. Yes we see good productions before this but a lot of it was himself and. Igor. The show must go on was impaired by his English and he was competing. I’d like to see Dimash recognized by the American Grammys and the Oscar’s for his movie soundtracks. They are controlled by money, the American artist and producers. But Dimash is not recognized. English artist are recognized but not Dimash. Though he had won over 160 awards before singer his contributions have not been recognized globally because he’s still independent and not secular or sexual in his end outlput. I hope is successful in giving the world his words his neoclassical style and Kazak culture music.

Dimash speaks English now...he spent several months in Los Angeles last year (composing When I've Got You,
Smoke, and Fire.) This was his first attempt at singing in English (phonetically) and he was said to be disappointed with his English in the performance. He sings in Mandarin easily, but finds speaking it difficult. ❤

Freddy's highest note was around F5.
For Dimash, an F5 is like eating soft pudding.
He loves singing F5's. Nothing to it for him.

Dimash is fluent in Kazakh and Russian. His English improved a lot but it’s not fluent. Mandarin it is said his pronunciation is good but he doesn’t speak it at all and only knows a few phrases. Dears tend to exaggerate his language skills. 😁 He has sung in 16 languages and learned the lyrics phonetically. Some with good and some with not so good pronunciation. In China his team is carefully watching that he has a good pronunciation of Mandarin.
I love how supportive and loving the contestants are with each other.

I don't know if anyone else has said it, but Dimash doesn't speak fluent English or Mandarin. His English is improving rapidly all the time. His speech is better than his singing. He doesn't speak Chinese, but he knows some phrases. But his Chinese pronunciation is apparently very good.
