Hi Marjory...I made a 3 liter bottle of Fire Cider 14 months ago before I strained it...As needed..I would pour off a small amount and then add honey to the small bottle...
I put the solids through my juicer and was surprised at how much liquid I got..1 and 1/4 cups extra liquid.
I then took the pulp that came out the side of the juicer and dried it out in the sun for two days...
I then put the dried pulp into my food processor and made it into a spice...I added Pink Himalayan Salt into the mix as a preservative. I need to invest in a coffee grinder to make it into a finer powder. This seasoning can be used on frying meat...cauliflower...soups..stews.......barbeque.....very tasty.
I also put the apples from my home made Apple Cider Vinegar through my juicer.....
    Regards from Sunny South Africa🌞y

Just came across someone who dehydrated the filtered ingredients for 8 hrs and made a fire cider powdered spice . Nice --- no waste.

Curl your fingers when cutting so you don't cut a finger. Never cut with the free hand flat. GREAT VIDEO...will use this recipe. I LOVE GARLIC!!

Place garlic heads in a paper bag and shake it for a while, hard shaking. then the garlic is totally clear of dry skin.
Martha Steward showed it on tv. I tried it and it works. much faster than cutting as we generally do it.

Easy garlic peel, put your garlic in a Mason jar, put a lid on it & shake vigorously, the husk will come right off.

Marjory, I find a fast and easy way to peel garlic (whole bulb at a time), is to take 2 bowls - or 2 pots that are the same size, put the garlic bulb in one and place the other on top to make an enclosed space and SHAKE!!!! Your family may think you are trying out for the rhythm section in a loud band but you are really peeling garlic. Give it a try!

Peel garlic? Simple....lay cloves down, lay that new chefs knife flat on top, BAM on the knife with the heel of your hand Presto, garlic is seperated from the peel.
    Love you Marjorie

If you put the garlic in the jar with the lid and shake it like crazy it will be ready to chop without going through the shell removal process. Try it, its amazing!

I find that the best way to prep garlic is to smash it with the flat side of a large knife with your hand. Usually, the garlic comes right out of the paper with that method.

Hi Melissa, yes that is the conclusion I've come to. Well, the flat side of a knife on a chopping board.

Love this! I've been making this after watching your video... it's great. Easy way to peel Garlic: Just take a clove and put your knife blade over it flat (sideways) then put your weight on the blade - thus crushing the clove. It will come right out of the peel or easy to remove from the peel. Also crushing the garlic will free the good stuff in it within 5 minutes or so... :)

I did my first batch with things in chunks. Then, for batch #2, I put the chunks (from batch #1) in the blender and added more vinegar then let that batch "brew" for a month. Seems to be just as potent as the first batch.

IMO it is better to macerate the ingredients together in a processor as this give more surface area for the vinegar and causes a better extraction.

  • @kleineroteHex
    @kleineroteHex 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

been making a version of this for years now. I also use onions in it; cut chunks that your blender can handle, blend with the vinegar and it is a lot less cutting!
Just be careful with the horse radish!!!! I have ruined 2 blenders already, it is really tough!
I must try rosemary and juniper with it next batch, sounds really good!
    I make a bout a gallon at a time :)

I am amazed behind you is a powerful blender or you could use a food processor and bung the lot in and process it jobs done as you only want the liquid in the end the finner you smash it the better

Would there be any reason you couldn't run all these things through a juicer instead? Seems like it would be more economical....probably get more goodness extracted from the vegetables. What do you think?

After the allicin is created when the garlic is chopped it breaks down into other compounds. Does the ingredient(s) in the infusion act as a preservative? That is why it is suggested not to use pill/capsule form for the antimicrobial properties.

If you can get a small piece of a horseradish root, you can plant it and it will grow, when I dig mine up and cut the tops off, I just throw them in the ground and the grow. 😉
