Video Assistant Referee causes controversy every week across Europe, and it even crops up in the Champions League.
On Wednesday night, in the second leg of the semifinal between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga club were desperately searching for an equaliser.
Real Madrid led 2-1, giving them a 3-2 aggregate lead, in the 13th minute of added time (only nine had been signalled). Bayern had to score, but they were thwarted by the offside flag and the referee blew his whistle. Bayern lost 2-1 and were eliminated.
Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel was raging, calling it a "a disastrous decision from the linesman and the referee."
So what happened, who was to blame, and how does this all work with VAR?

Can we not accept that Bayern lost and move on?Too many errors caused Bayern to lose the match. The subs, the extra extra time the ref gave which wasn't warranted, and all the missed chances that Bayern had to score. If we all want to get "technical" , the rules of the game, the ref should have stopped the match in the 11th minute, not the 14th. This offside play would never have happened and Bayern would have no other excuse but to blame Tuchel. Everyone who watches futbol knows you can't rule out madrid, especially at home, 1-0 down. It seems that Bayern wants to use the assistant ref as a scapegoat for thier own mistakes.😢
Leipzig was the better team in 2 games against Real and was deprived by the refs. so you have point of this, when one team geht so many advantages to get to the final

Do you know why ... referee allowed extra time after 90 minutes...that extra time allowed due to time wasted in the 90 minutes... Buddy don't feel bad... You don't know about football rules... Referee count each second wasted in the field ... Suppose in extra injury time ...any time again wasted...such wasted time again added by the match... referee... It's an official call... after 90 minutes how much time allowed for wasted time in the regular 90 minutes... Am sure you are watching football but you don't have clarity about...VAR claim...EXTRA INJURY TIME COMPUTATION... Under which circumstances match field refree go for direct Red card...etc 😆
No cause if your favourite club is robbed I don't think you would be calm and accepted that you lost
In so many occasions RM has won critical matches with ref assistance. He did even bother to check the VAR...how ridiculous
If the Goalie( Lunin or something ) just stopped De Ligts shot nobody was talking about this HUGE OMG " f...k " up by the refs.
Tuchel is just making the noice as he know that he Fucked up with the substitutions that he made and the team played below par. There were 3 vs 1 attacks and 2 v 4 attacks that Bayern missed due to poor passing and intent... If there was no vistle, thats just an ordinary cross into the box and the defenders would have challenged and the shot itself would have been blocked just as normal. The noice is beccause they had a chance to get a free shot and it went into the net.. Not sure why nobody is talking about this...

The referee made a mistake and because of that it's impossible to know whether Bayern would have scored or if VAR would have gave offside.
Nobody is talking about the minutes added by the ref, 2extra minutes to the initial 11, thats huge.
There wouldnt have been this drama

First of all its offiside. Hands and arms do not count in offiside, lins should be drwon from the shoulders and knees. Second of all, when the refree blown the whisle, everyone from Madrid stopped even the goal Keeper didnt try to jump at the ball so we will never know if the ball would go in or it will intercepted by madrid players. So yaa its refree mistake but its never a goal.

Let that sink in. The 13th minute of extra time when only 9 were marked. Absurd the whistle should’ve blown at most on the 11th minute.

If VAR rules would have been kept correctly Madrid would have been eliminated against Leipzig two monts ago…that is the point, madrid has nothing to do in the CL final.
As lots of time in the soccer history madrid has won the match because the referee helped them. Why do they help madrid? Because they are paid for. This is the shame of the soccer world that a team like rm can win trophies like this. Disgracefull and distgusting. Remember the case by Leipzig a few weeks ago….also robbed
3 problems with those false accusations.
1 the ref helped Bayern by playing 13 minutes of overtime despite only signaling 9. The offside ruling would never have happened if the ref didn't prolong the game Even further.
2 Bayern would most likely not have scored if the whistle had not been blown due to the Madrid defenders actually defending, and the keeper actually trying to make a save.
3 Despite the wonderful goal from Davies Bayern were outplayed for the majority of the game. Despite the huge blunder from Neuer at the goals they conseded he was still the best Bayern player by far in that game. That was primarily due to Bayern being very defensive, and substituting their best offensive players for defensive minded players.
What you can do is to speak too much !Real Madrid is in final that's clear
