What is controversial are his kills, whether they are justified or not. The author actually said it himself. It was never about good or evil, it was always about wits. Both L and Light are really terrible people, if you read the novel which showcases Ls backstory he is literally like light

I saw this when it first came out and I hade no words, I was literally and figuratively speechless. (I might be glazing..) But this was great, I was giggling and rocking myself back and forth. Sitting like L (LITERALLY) While laughing out loud while watching Sanji, Reki, Noé? and Zenitsu get pressed at Light getting hoes and Light having Misa being madly inlove with him (Meatridding to the max. Even though I love my girl Misa, she was truly glazing light. More then a Crisp Chremé Glazed Doughnut.)

AHHH RATHER MARVELOUS WELL DONE. ahhh if ye think about it light was given a gift by his “friend” by turning him into a shiragami. Light wanted to cleanse the world of crime and become a god in a sense. But one of his main issues was time. Even without taking the eyes due to what he was doing he was probably going to be going much earlier then he normally would have and their was no Guarantee that other issues wouldn’t occure. So he was granted his wish a different way. He became a “god of death” and was granted an eternity to enact his plans. The only condition was that he had to go notebook user fishing himself. Rather interesting isn’t it Ryuk saw something in light that he hadn’t seen anywhere else. He saw a shiragami in human form so to speak. Hmmm perhaps due to him murdering so many people with the book light turned himself into a shiragami. He was shaped by it. Welll ye got what ye wanted light. A eternal chance to do “good”. Why not have a sit beside ryuk and toss ye book? AHHH OOOH IVE RAMBELES ON TERRIBLY SORRY
