@@IzzysTravelDiaries I was just there two days ago for the first time and wanted more of it's incredible history and glad I came across your channel! It's a little chilly out there around this time of the year , etc. .the castle was open however with did have some limited features. :)
Thank you for this concise history lesson. I'll get a copy of Egri csillagok/Eclipse of the Crescent Moon and give that a read too. I noticed on the book cover that Geza Gardonyi's name is printed with his family name first. Is that standard in Hungary? This is the preferred name order in my own culture, as half of my family is Oriental.
Yes, in Hungary we have the family name first. Then the Christian name and then what would be middle name in English. I think it's probably because we came from Asia way back. Also if you watch the Korean drama Queen Seondeok, we were amazed at the jewelry. It was a lot like what our ancestors wore when they came to this region. That was around 800, and the drama takes place around 600.
Very Good concise history of Eger.

be careful with that book the translated version was made 1995 so the translation might be a bit rusty...
@@IzzysTravelDiaries Hungarians don't look like asians. Not a bit.
Thanks for presenting the history of my pretty hometown. I hope you had a nice time here :)
It was great! I actually shot more videos, but I ended up not having time to edit them sadly.
