@drrrink00 Yes, there was a better one from about 1982 onwards, mainly associated with Steve Rider and European finals such as Spurs in the UEFA and Everton in CWC. Still trying to find that one. This theme sounds like it's going to turn into Russ Abbot's Atmosphere.
There were two themes tunes to this programme,1982 to 1986,[this video and 1986 to 1990.] In the days of Regional ITV LWT produced World of Sport because London Weekend Television was the London Broadcaster. Weekdays THAMES who therefore had to produce and make the theme tunes for Medweek Sports Special. THAMES TELEVISION also produced SPORTSWORLD when ITV started 24 hour television from 1985 -1987 and was the first programme to show European Football Highlights. But with the start of Pan-European Satellite Broadcasters like SCREENSPORT 1985-1993 and EUROSPORT 1989-1991 SKY EUROSPORT TF1 France 1991 -on wards this soon came an irleveance. Both Medweek Sport Special themes are on You Tube somewhere. A former disabled carer from the New Forest. GOD BLESS!

forgot how goddamn awful this theme tune was. on one side u had this with bloody torville and dean every week, or sportsnight (far superior theme) with bloody skiing all the time!!

Actually this was from 1980-81 season.....Liverpool beat West Ham in the League Cup Final of 1981 !
