One special mention for the crew guy interviewing the Kashmiri guy....the way you conversed was very smart. Presents all arguments but with a certain level of ease. Not anger or frustration but just opinions.
And I thought I had problems. People like me who are privileged enough to have a comfortable life look at the world through a pinhole. Stories like these just makes you cringe and helpless. We need to hear more stories like this. We all need to feel human again.
We sit in our cozy beds and get entertained by our gadgets. But once in a while we need a reality check on what's happening in the real world. This video does exactly that. I liked the raw content of the video. It is overwhelming to know the perspectives of the people who have REAL problems
Guys, feeling overwhelmed. Being a regular traveller through the general compartment since my childhood, connected with every moment of this docu. The diverse landscape and people of India have been beautifully captured. The sleeping styles of people was the most fun to watch. I feel this documentary is a living, contemporary heritage of India. The transgenders, the kashmiri youth, the patriarchy of Haryana, the pain of a father somewhere compel us to introspect. Excellent work, keep it up.
Generally the ruling class often ignore the problems of the common people, so it's our & media's duty to keep bringing up such stories. Beautiful film C&S!
This documentry was like divine revelation to me, i have travelled through general compartment many times but never able to communicate with them or be intimate with them your documentry really helped me, and i will make sure that i try to initiate a good conversation with them, sometimes a good conversation is what is needed in the life.
It is a soul-touching documentary. Some parts of this documentory brought tears to my eyes ... Life is so hard and the world is so harsh ... There is so much struggle, suffering and pain in this reality. And I often feel so hopeless and helpless in life. These unreserved compartments of the trains are probably carrying a lot of pain of the soul of India. This documentary is symbolizing that life itself is a journey through the changing landscapes of the reality. There are so many truths behind so many stories. Our politicians should watch this documentary before preparing their untrue public speeches. Each of them - the passengers of the unreserved compartments, is a great philosopher. They know how to be happy in life truly. I salute them and pray for them. I'm thankful and grateful to the directors and producers of this documentary and the channel who uploaded it. Videography is just excellent. I could see India so beautifully through the windows of truth. And it speaks about so many things including the harmony of religions. It's just great. Thank you. A thoughtful and insightful documentary. It's showing the journey of India's soul through those dark tunnels and meadows and all other landscapes. The conversation on Dr. Abdul Kalam was quite interesting. The empty platforms were the silent witnesses of this noisy journey in truth. I'll pray for all of them, all the passengers. I would like to know more about this journey like how did you travel across India by train ?! Where did you go first after starting from Mumbai ?! Did you complete the circle in a clockwise or in an anticlockwise direction?! Music by Indian Ocean is just a great wow. Thank you so much. Okay. Now, I can see and follow the map. You covered it in a clockwise direction. Why didn't you come to Kolkata ?! I kept on watching and writing. 🌈😇🤗🙏🙋
Amazing work !! During college days I used to travel from Lucknow to Trichy ( 48 Hours ) on waiting (sleeper)/unreserved tickets and each and every journey used to be epic. I credit those journeys a lot to help me understand what India and it's people really are. I could feel the conversations in the documentary so much as if I was sitting on the next seat. And for that all credit goes to your team. The conversations are so easy, people share and bond very easily and despite all the discomforts of the coach and problems with their lives. These days I mostly take flights and the whole trip ends without having a single conversation with a co passenger. I do miss those train journeys.
There are a lot of reality shows. TV tropes full of candidates and their backstories. Rarely, you see something which is authentic, beautiful and heartfelt. This idea was ambitious and the execution brilliant. Such things you see once a lifetime. Thank you very much for this experience.
We need more documentaries like these which captures the real to the skin Indian values, scenarios, and what we actually are and not the superficial fake glamour. I recommend all the flashy film stars to watch this and realise what is missing in their movies. Need to take this to a higher level, and masses. Brilliant
If you have ever travelled in a train in India you will connect with every moment of this. If you have not travelled in a train yet, it will kindle your urge to do so ! Excellent direction and loved the unobtrusive style of asking questions. Every conversation is insightful.
I don't know how you manage with a camera n mick in local train without making people uncomfortable or anxious. I guess those part were edited out...but still can't believe how these people who got on screen were natural and real. Kudoss to you. Amazing work 👌
Generally I hardly give any comments on you tube videos. but u make me bounded to give my comments. what a documentary boss. hats off to you.u show the real India, the real Indian people.loved this documentary so much I can't express.hats off to the cameraman.its just awsm.really I got emotional. very overwhelmed. want some more videos.
it requires courage to discuss such sensitive issues with the unknown people.. u have not only experienced dis amazing journey but also u have shared dis one with us.. thank u fellas
Picked this up after Borderlands. Must say I'm slowly falling in love with this team. The topics you pick are so meaningful, executed in a sheer heart warming style, and are eye openers to Indian society and its issues. Only if more people watched films like these and practiced thinking - we would have a much better and compassionate society. Keep growing! ❤
This Documentary bridges the Non communicated/Unspoken Gap between The People featured and Us.Only to remind and Humble Us that our struggles are Not greater than theirs. Emotionally Motivating and soulfully Humbling. Applauding Content that stirs up the much Needed Human empathy.
can't believe we are able to watch such priceless content for free. there was so much effort put in it, thank you so much for making this beautiful film.
I liked it. N it makes me feel proud about you samarth that you are one from the neighboring city Dinanagar (i am from sujanpur) who is enjoying doing what you like.. i wish you all the best for your future endeavours..
What a documentary. I mean…It's like never seen before. Every journey gives us some story but this journey gives us a lesson of understanding the people’s emotions/views & their life. The way team involved "Unreserved" people in their entire circular journey starting from one point of India by covering a full map of India is simply outstanding. Every fact was discussed in this journey & that’s the beauty of this documentary. Take a bow to DOP of documentary for capturing a view throughout this journey. It’s not an easy task to handle camera in such crowdy place that too in smooth way. Kudos to Team. A must watch experience
What a great documentary. One of its kind. Humans of india! No matter whatever difficulties you face, request you to please carry this noble work you guys are doing. Ill share this as much as a i can.
This is the kind of work that you come across rarely, perhaps once in a lifetime. Congratulations, Camera n Shorts for creating the most Indian documentary ever! :) Humans of India! _/\_ :)
This was one thing for which I was eagerly waiting since I read an article about your journey. Having never traveled in a general compartment, this movie came as both a surprise and a sense of realization to me. The fact that the stories were raw and untampered was the best part. Great job guys!
What a wonderful documentary ! Can't remember the last time I felt so many emotions while watching something. A brilliant piece of art, which beautifully brings out the very soul and ethos of India, and leaves you with a different perspective on life. Great work !
I just came here because it was on my recommendations. Sometimes TH-cam do surprises us. Heart warming music and nice ease conversation. Sharing it with friends and family.
I don't know why but the Kashmiri cricket loving guy supporting Pakistan doesn't surprise me or make me feel any kind of resentment. He rather seemed so innocent. Hopefully, he will soon have his reasons to start loving India.
Thanks for sharing us with all the different but equally beautiful and captivating conversations and helping us to look through the open windows of the UNRESERVED compartment into the lives of all these people. Especially, the subtle conversation with the Kashmiri guy helped us to understand that they are worried about the same basic problems of life as we are and they are no different than people of the mainland India. It was well-shot and edited and obviously, that Indian Ocean track was the icing on the cake. Thanks again!
The best part?? Looking into the eyes of the person when he /she talks...that builds their trust in you...cz they feel you empathize with them...and Samarth's feeble but gentle voice in the backdrop :) Its not a film..its an experience!
Made me realize that what makes us each human isn't that different at all. We all have the same anxiety, fear, aspirations, hope and love for something in life. A "window seat" into the human psyche. Loved your work.
Awaysome movie guys hats off to you guys ,I am very touched ,heart broken when I heard sad story of father of brain tumour girl, keep it up .And its happen only in India ,proud to be Indian.
Apne itni acchi documentary banai hai..ki mai comment kiyebina nhi reh skii...kashmiri brother wala part mujhe bahut hi zada pasand aya...apne jis tarah se unse sawal kiya...by keeping both of yu on a comfortable side...was kabilyatareef....and the rajnikanth wala part was damn entertaining....iss documentary me inn sabhi logo ne jo bhi problems bataye hai...ye actually me hamari country ke major problems hai...hum sabhi almost childhood se hi sunte aa rhe hai..kano ko mano jaise aadat si padgayi hai..inn chizo ko sunne kii...bura to bahut lgta hai,...parr hum apne part me bahut kam hi kar pate hai...and yess this the most harsh reality...afsos hai bahot zada afsos...
i am 29 and have been travelling in general compartment for all my life, sitting near gate alot of the time, cursing my situation and all. I was so used to all this that i somehow had forgotten my own perspective about the troubles and feelings of others. Because of Whatever going in my life May be i was losing compassion. this just reminded me why i wanted to be in civil services. Thank you.
Very good documentary! Since my college days in 2016, I used to travel alot in unreserved and i felt really connected. It's like I'm there and listening them. My every journey was used to be like this only, there was always some new story, new people hustling and fighting in their own life sharing the same coach & same destination.
Heart warming stories narrated by common people who travel the unreserved coaches on trains that connect the nation together. Stories that ring true. Stories that tug at your heart strings. Conversations that bring back the joy of travelling and connecting deeply with another human for a fleeting moment. The passing scenery of hills and tunnels and rivers and fields and the song of the train and the voices of the hawkers and beggars make this a compelling audio visual experience that can only be matched by actually being there. . Kudos for a masterfully executed project.
Its very difficult to make 'non' actors act*...and make them speak so frankly ...and that too in an atmosphere where we just want to escape.....well done guys...I can't just imagine the efforts you guys would have went through, 'apart' from filming this story. Kudos ! PS: *: I didn't find the exact word. ;-p
thank you for providing me such overwhelming roller-coaster of feelings via this film, thank you for making my brothers and sisters talk their heart out so easily in front of your camera, you all guys must have taken tremendous efforts and risk for making this film. "when I don't know what to hope for..but come back with an exhaustion, saturation and vivid memories out of which only time decides which of them have touched my soul... is travelling to me; to learn, to grow, to experience is to travel"..personally I re-lived past memories that even I didn't know existed. thank you so much for sharing your travel experience with me. ALL THE BEST YOU GUYS!
Indian railways... best place to understand diversity, emotions, talents etc of India. Some of the best lessons of life can be learnt while journey made with Indian Railways.
Watching it in 2021... I'm Wondering.... 1) Why are the views only in Thousands? 2) Where is the #Trending mark on this video? This channel and this video has sooooooo much of potential. Please continue the Hard Work. We need such content. A big Thank you, for this 1 hour of Reality-Check Documentary.
Samad Anna, U should do one more like this, covering remaining parts of the country, exploring more social, cultural things.. I watched this last year.. Afterwards u hide this.. Every Sunday I check whether it's there online.. Finally I found it..Especially during this critical time when migrant labour are struggling every moment.. Loads of love❤😘
I’m so overwhelmed after watching this. One of the best documentaries seen on any platforms. The camera man and interviewer deserves a kudos. Keep showing such beautiful depiction of real India. Every except has a perspective. Loved it.
Dude this is amazing stuff! I hope you can find a way to keep in touch with the folks and maybe get a blog up with 'Where are they now' type of stories.
This is first class work. Every time I travel in Indian Railways, I observe characters and may be write some notes and stories. But many a time I wanted to record those conversations I had with my co-passengers on camera. You guys went ahead and did it! You can probably do another cut of a bigger length and go for a theatrical release. I am willing to pay thousand bucks for this!
This movie covered all types of social problems in India rooting out of poverty : 1. Illiteracy 2. Helplessness 3. Over family plagues and expenses. 4. Women exploitation 5. Daily wage labour and rural-urban migration. 6. Over Population. 7. Religional over dependence supported by art and culture and regular prayers. 8. Unreserved category of poor people's problems. 9. Natural exclusion of poor people's participation in politics. We can also include higher education according to me including MBA, MBBS 10. Disability and links with poverty. Those sound tracks of railway lines have weird silences, waved by great inferiority and low thoughts and poor life.
hi.. i never travelled in general dabba.. but while watching i feel like im in unresvered compartment . thats the beauty of this movie.. very nicely recorded.. keep it up.
How tiny my problems are? I am speechless after watching this documentary. Thank you guys for such a wonderful experience God bless you and encourage you for such work
Have witnessed something special. I feel like my consciousness about the daily problems of mine are diminished. Thanks to the whole team for their effort.
GOOD WORK GUYS.... ITS MIRROR OF INTREST'S of PEOPLE & PEOPLE THEMSELVES... THE BEGINNING N END OF CONVERSATIONS IS THE POINT THAT CHANGED THIS DOCUMENTARY WORK...
Watching this while on a train. I've seen all of this throughout my childhood and this brings back so many memories. From the first time I saw the transgenders and wondered who are they as a child to meeting people with all kinds of experiences it's all coming back. This also portrayed what diversity our country homes. This is just amazing!
I am aslo a cinema student, I have watched many documentaries and movies, but this has given a mesmerizing feeling throughout an hour. Thankyou so much for creating this masterpiece.
Remembering those days...lot of stories are there...missing my journey in general compartment...the people, the noice, the smell everything can feel after seeing this movie...thanks team
No wonder this documentary won the National Award. This is so so beautiful. Can't put to words what impact this has had on me . Initially I didn't really think that I was going to watch till the end but now that I have completed it how I wish I could hear more of such raw stories . Thank you Grateful for this. And I am definitely sharing this .
I had a smile throughout the movie! Fabulous job. People opened up their hearts out for you and you made justice to their stories. I would especially like to congratulate Samarth Mahajan and Anadi. Loved your work and waiting for your next project.
This is an empathetic piece of work. It was respectful to see how the people were having a conversation and opening their thoughts, fearlessly. Beautiful work.
I loved it...you took me through a great journey....As I served in Armed Forces for twenty years, I traveled a lot in trains throughout India....This work made me nostalgic....Great concept and documented it very artistically....Thank you...
If you like this, you can also watch our latest national award-winning documentary "Borderlands", by the same team, here: bit.ly/borderlandsfullfilm
One special mention for the crew guy interviewing the Kashmiri guy....the way you conversed was very smart. Presents all arguments but with a certain level of ease. Not anger or frustration but just opinions.
Thank you so much for your reviews :)
Yup that was wonderfully done! Would love to watch more of it.
Subtlety put, but yet to the point.

Great video ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
5 minutes into the movie I can already smell the chana jor garam! Beautifully made!
And I thought I had problems. People like me who are privileged enough to have a comfortable life look at the world through a pinhole. Stories like these just makes you cringe and helpless. We need to hear more stories like this. We all need to feel human again.

I feel this documentary is a living, contemporary heritage of India. The transgenders, the kashmiri youth, the patriarchy of Haryana, the pain of a father somewhere compel us to introspect. Excellent work, keep it up.

Heart warming stories narrated by common people who travel the unreserved coaches on trains that connect the nation together. Stories that ring true. Stories that tug at your heart strings.
Thank you for making this! I hope more people get to view this.
Man, oh Man! What a movie you guys have made. It's brilliant. Hope I will travel in India like this someday...
Thanks a lot :)
This movie covered all types of social problems in India rooting out of poverty :
1. Illiteracy
2. Helplessness
3. Over family plagues and expenses.
4. Women exploitation
5. Daily wage labour and rural-urban migration.
6. Over Population.
7. Religional over dependence supported by art and culture and regular prayers.
8. Unreserved category of poor people's problems.
9. Natural exclusion of poor people's participation in politics. We can also include higher education according to me including MBA, MBBS
10. Disability and links with poverty.
Those sound tracks of railway lines have weird silences, waved by great inferiority and low thoughts and poor life.
Please 'Camera and Shorts' I request you to please pin this comment as well 💜 very well written yaar

Watching this while on a train. I've seen all of this throughout my childhood and this brings back so many memories. From the first time I saw the transgenders and wondered who are they as a child to meeting people with all kinds of experiences it's all coming back. This also portrayed what diversity our country homes. This is just amazing!

This is an empathetic piece of work. It was respectful to see how the people were having a conversation and opening their thoughts, fearlessly.
