The top skill to learn for cloud engineering roles or related fields is programming, particularly in Python and possibly Java, along with Terraform. The only cloud job where you rarely program is Solution Architect and probably Cloud Support Engineer and I say you still be doing it like 10% and if you could solve even more complex programming problems you be more valuable. Aside from that, most other roles involve programming about 30% of the time, in addition to tasks related to networking, security, and design, planning, etc. Overall, programming is a significant part of cloud engineering as more cloud-related tasks require automation.

i am triple ccie#2255x with rs sp dc , there are many work chance and high salary for cloud(AWS Azure Ali ...) and linux engineer( K8s ,docker) but very few chance for network engineer the salary is lower than system engineer, so i think that the network engineer have to study more system knowledge othewise it is very hard to get more salary.
do you think as a career shifter(non IT background, current Data Scientist) its still best to learn F5 and VMWARE first before diving to AWS cloud services to learn cloud engineering? Would appreciate it if you could give a roadmap of trainings and relevant projects. thank you in advance 😊
Hi Dean, I started my career in networking after getting CCNA training ( Not certified) and got myself in a company where i have only worked on Fortinet products.(Fortinet Sdwan,Fortimanager,Analyzer, about to get my hands on FortiAuthenticator). Never worked on Cisco or any other products. Which cert would u recommend me? CCNA or Nse4 (now FCP) ? If i want to go for a cert now, which one should i choose first? FCP or CCNA.
Thats interesting! If I will be on your shoes. I would go for Fortinet Certified Professional Public Cloud Security (AWS) then go for AWS Certified Security Specialty.

Thanks for sharing however the title is Network to Cloud Engineering.
I agree. Most of the cloud role(also devops)
Need programming/ coding as well as IaC, microservices and open sources.

Thanks for sharing. Thats a nice resume and knowledge. Just curious where are you from?
Studying for RHCSA and using ESXI with EVE-NG for CCNP Labs. I want to move to cloud but I still want to know on-prem networking
Thats a good strategy. You will get the advantage I’d you start on prem before moving to the cloud

@StyxShow Thanks. I've been in help desk for 3 years but I will be sure to check this out.
Would recommend this f5 cert to complement my ccna? I'm trying to progress in the networking field.

i wonder where the styx name comes from, or what its in reference to

We have a Styx Project related to identifying VULNERABILITIES of certain systems and applications.
No one has ever heard of F5. Never seen it listed or heard of it outside this channel
I'm in a big city and F5 shows up on job search all the time
Just curious, where are you from?
