    This was the second flight of my Cliffhanger design, this time from my usual slope.

      Does the wing have any washout? She flies superb!

    • @SlopeRCGliders
      @SlopeRCGliders  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@duderguy1571 the wing doesn’t have any washout. All the wing ribs are identical so it still has a big wing cord at the tip. I haven’t noticed any tendency to drop a wing.

    I love the design, music, location and vibe, John! I still cant figure out why forward-swept wings give the essence of cutting through the wind better!

    Very attractive design and flies well. Looks like there is room for a GoPro in the cockpit. 😁👍

    Very pretty John. Now build a wing swept back and attach it to the bottom for a unique biplane!

      @SlopeRCGliders  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Beatifull and smart, even the name!
    Dimensions , weight, wind speed at this flight?
    Any inclination to make this glider available in some sort of form (drawing, cnc set )?

  • @erik2719
    @erik2719 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    with what material do you cover these wonderful flying machines? Tanks a lot

    • @SlopeRCGliders
      @SlopeRCGliders  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s an heat sensitive plastic film. The glue is already applied and sets when ironed on. The heat also shrinks it tight.

  • @kelticpaddler
    @kelticpaddler 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ahh now John, I like this. Old meets new. Are there plans/kit available for this one?

    • @SlopeRCGliders
      @SlopeRCGliders  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This model is basically an Ocean Breeze with a forward swept wing. The plans for my Ocean Breeze are free to download off the Outerzone website.
      The wing sits one bay further back on the fuselage, and the front of the wingtips are in line with the front of the next bay forward, so the CG is in the same as the same place as the straight wing version. Hopefully that all makes sense.

    • @kelticpaddler
      @kelticpaddler 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SlopeRCGliders Thanks John. Perfect!

    • @kelticpaddler
      @kelticpaddler 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SlopeRCGliders One more question. Did you build the wings with the roots 90° to the spar keeping the original wing width or did you angle them in line with the fuselage effectively making the wing slightly narrower?

    • @SlopeRCGliders
      @SlopeRCGliders  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s got exactly the same wing ribs, still in line with the fuselage, but all shuffled forward.
      (I also made the tail a slightly different shape but I think the original one is probably better)

    • @kelticpaddler
      @kelticpaddler 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SlopeRCGliders so not 90° to the spar, angled into the wind, so to speak

  • @terryfletcher6465
    @terryfletcher6465 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Are there any benefits for a forward swept wing?

    • @SlopeRCGliders
      @SlopeRCGliders  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They have a few benefits on supersonic aircraft but are hard to make stiff enough to withstand the flight loads. There are no real advantages on a glider like this. A few full-sized gliders have a modest forward sweep as it moves the main wing spar back, giving more room in the cockpit, but keeping the CG the same.
