Can’t imagine anyone calling this a bad wave. If you do you have it better than 99% of the surfers in the world. If you saw what I grew up on and surfed my entire life you would have given up a long time ago. This wave looks like a dream to me.
Ah, 1964 and we called it Doll's after the catering truck that parked there. A hot cup of canned soup was a welcomed treat after a cold winter sesh. Very good high tide waves in da vid. Rock on......
Then like 3 years later in enlisted in the Navy, put in for Pearl Harbor, got transferred to PMRF West side Kauai, started surfing again, and almost drowned at least half a dozen times more, got pounded in the Impact Zone, Big Waves, held underwater, each time I thought it was over!!! Kept on surfing thou, Hawaii has more juice for the same size wave
Same here but mid-late 80's for me. It was long ago enough that it was before the meters and stairs. You had to scramble down over the rocks or head out from Goldenwest. Then things got sanitized and Jack's started selling more fashion than surf gear.

I grew up in the 1960’s surfing the cliffs. Biggest problem then was stepping on those tar balls.

I surfed goldwest st/cliffs from 77-98. When there was standing oil on the surface of the ground. I got the stories.
